UN Briefing on Report of DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies Held

 Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies released a report on the DPR of Korea's policy for ensuring genuine human rights and reality of its people enjoying human rights, sparking great sensation among the international community. A briefing on the report took place at the building of the United Nations headquarters on October 7.
    Present at the briefing were at least 150 figures including diplomatic envoys and those related to human rights of missions of foreign countries in the UN, representatives of non-governmental human rights organs and correspondents of the press corps in the UN.
    The briefing made general introduction of the purport of the report released by the DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies and its contents and referred to the DPR of Korea's principled stand on the issue of human rights and its efforts for improving popular masses' enjoyment of human rights. The questions raised were answered.
    The majority of the participants properly understood and expressed sympathy with the DPR of Korea's policy on human rights, system ensuring human rights and reality of its people's full enjoyment of human rights.
    They positively appreciated the DPR of Korea's measures for dialogue and cooperation in the field of human rights and its will for cooperation.
    Representatives of the U.S. and other Western countries in the briefing could not but keep mum in face of the denunciation and censure of the fact that the "information" and "resolution" on human rights performance in the DPRK spread by the U.S. and the West are a typical example of politicization of human rights, selectivity and double-standards.
    CNN, AP, Kyodo and other foreign media widely reported about this briefing.
    The hostile forces are making desperate efforts to tarnish the image of the dignified DPRK and stifle the ideology and social system chosen by the Korean people. However, the DPRK will take decisive measures to cope with it and make consistent efforts to realize the beautiful dream and ideal of the people by stepping up the building of a thriving nation, provide better conditions for human rights and boost international cooperation in the field of human rights. -0-
