Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Association for Human Rights
Studies released a report on the DPR of Korea's policy for ensuring
genuine human rights and reality of its people enjoying human rights,
sparking great sensation among the international community. A briefing
on the report took place at the building of the United Nations
headquarters on October 7.
Present at the briefing were at least 150 figures including
diplomatic envoys and those related to human rights of missions of
foreign countries in the UN, representatives of non-governmental human
rights organs and correspondents of the press corps in the UN.
The briefing made general introduction of the purport of the report
released by the DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies and its
contents and referred to the DPR of Korea's principled stand on the
issue of human rights and its efforts for improving popular masses'
enjoyment of human rights. The questions raised were answered.
The majority of the participants properly understood and expressed
sympathy with the DPR of Korea's policy on human rights, system ensuring
human rights and reality of its people's full enjoyment of human
rights.
They positively appreciated the DPR of Korea's measures for dialogue
and cooperation in the field of human rights and its will for
cooperation.
Representatives of the U.S. and other Western countries in the
briefing could not but keep mum in face of the denunciation and censure
of the fact that the "information" and "resolution" on human rights
performance in the DPRK spread by the U.S. and the West are a typical
example of politicization of human rights, selectivity and
double-standards.
CNN, AP, Kyodo and other foreign media widely reported about this briefing.
The hostile forces are making desperate efforts to tarnish the image
of the dignified DPRK and stifle the ideology and social system chosen
by the Korean people. However, the DPRK will take decisive measures to
cope with it and make consistent efforts to realize the beautiful dream
and ideal of the people by stepping up the building of a thriving
nation, provide better conditions for human rights and boost
international cooperation in the field of human rights. -0-
