World progressive people and Juche idea followers and stalwart friends of People’s Korea are excited that in less than a week’s time , on October 10th , the Workers Party of Korea will be 80 years old ! . The Workers Party of Korea or WPK outlived the former ruling parties of the former socialist camp that collapsed due to modern revisionism and the conspiracy of imperialism .
The anniversary of the foundation of the Workers Party of Korea is of great significance because the WPK is the organiser and guide of all the socialist victories of the great Korean people , it is the supreme general staff of the Korean revolution. The WPK is a vanguard and shock brigade of the international communist movement that has proudly held high the red flag of socialism when others lowered it or threw it by the wayside.
It was on the 10th of October 1945 less than 2 months after the liberation of Korea that President KIM IL SUNG formed the Communist Party of North Korea(CPNK ) which was firmly based on the nuclei of communist revolutionaries steeled in the fiery furnace of the anti-Japanese war . Later the CPNK was to merge with the New Democratic Party to form the Workers Party of North Korea . In 1949 the Workers Party of North Korea merged with the Workers Party of South Korea to become the Workers Party of Korea.
The roots of the Workers Party of Korea go back to the days of the anti-Japanese armed struggle . The foundation of the WPK was not a single act but the outcome of a long process of struggle that began with the formation of the Down With Imperialism Union(DIU) by President KIM IL SUNG on the 17th of October 1926 . The DIU was the first communist revolutionary organisation with its membership drawn from revolutionary school students and young revolutionaries .The DIU is the historical root of the Workers Party of Korea
Later on the 3rd of July 1930 , the first party organisation the Society for Rally Comrades was founded . During the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA ) , party organisations were formed inside the KPRA and a Homeland Party Working Committee was established.
Thus the birth of the WPK on October 10th 1945 was an event that was long prepared for . The foundation of the WPK was not a few people in the corner of a bar or in someone’s backroom deciding to form a party but an act representing the interests and aspirations of the Korean people and answering the need for them to have a guiding force of socialist construction . The WPK is a true mass party in every sense of the word . It has millions of members . When you visit the DPRK , as I have done 18 times , you will encounter members of the WPK in all walks of life from drivers , cleaners and waitresses to professors and lecturers and government officials . The WPK is simply not a party with a lot of members but a party with a solid mass foundation . As Marshal KIM JONG UN said :
"A party without mass foundation is no better than a candle before the wind.”
Under the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman KIM JONG IL and later respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the WPK has guided many decades of socialist construction overcoming all sorts of trials and obstacles . During its existence the WPK has combated modern revisionism , Left opportunism , factionalism and sycophancy towards big powers . In 1956 when traitors within who wanted to sell the DPRK to other countries and to establish a pro-American bourgeois republic , President KIM IL SUNG smashed them . Juche was firmly established in the WPK and the monolithic ideological system of Juche , which aimed at eradicating bourgeois and revisionist elements was established from 1967.
Thanks to the 80 years of leadership by the WPK guided by President KIM IL SUNG , Chairman KIM JONG IL and Marshal KIM JONG UN an advanced socialist system was set up in the DPRK . Free education , free healthcare and free housing were made available for the people along with cheap food . Now a true socialist paradise is being built in People’s Korea , the land of Juche !
