At the recent 8th congress of the great Workers Party of Korea, respected Marshal KIM JONG UN made an analysis of the state of inter-Korean relations and the prospects for reunification and put forward tasks for solving the burning questions of Korean reunification.
The reunification of Korea is essentially , it is a must . The Korean people are a homogenous nation with a history of 5,000 years but were divided by outside forces , chiefly the US imperialists in 1945 . Before 1945 there was no such thing as ‘north Korea ‘ or ‘south Korea ‘. The division of Korea is totally artificial and has no geographical rationale behind it . It was the result of an arbitrary decision made by the US; two US colonels one of whom was Dean Rusk ( later to become a leading figure in US politics ) simply drew a line with a ruler and a pencil across the map of Korea .
Korea’s division cannot be considered normal or desirable . Moreover it has lasted too long . It has spanned centuries. It is time for it to be brought to an end .
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN in his report to the 8th congress pointed out that the Korean peninsula stands at the crossroads between peace and reunification on the one hand and continued division and conflict on the other hand . Although a favourable situation had been created in 2018 thanks to the efforts of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN for peace and reunification and his adroit strategy , things did not develop favourably and instead the situation fell back into one of deadlock and tension . basically back to square one .
The south Korean authorities and their policy of dependence on the US are the culprits in this matter . The south Korean authorities have staged military exercises with the US against the DPRK . Few people know that in fact south Korea is one of the biggest military spenders in the world , spending more on the military than Australia , Brazil , Italy and even the extremely aggressive Zionist entity of Israel . South Korea is increasing its military expenditure and importing all kinds of weapons from the US to use against their fellow Koreans in the DPRK . Worse still, south Korea has engaged in anti-DPRK provocations
As Marshal KIM JONG UN said, progress in inter-Korean relations cannot be achieved by the efforts of one side alone ; south Korea must do its part . South Korea should adhere to the agreements it signed at the summits with the DPRK in 2018 . South Korea must curb irrational anti-reunification acts .
The present south Korean authorities need to break with their policies of dependence and subordination to the US . At the moment the US Congress is discussing a law passed by south Korea to lessen tensions on the Korean peninsula ; the US is acting as if south Korea is the 51st state of the USA . This is very wrong . South Korea needs to break with the US and become independent .
The reunification of Korea and the end of US domination of south Korea is important for not just the Korean people but for the world progressive and peace loving people . Korea’s reunification will remove one of the last remaining hotspots of the Cold War and a source of tension thus improving peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region which has emerged as one of the most important parts of the globe where big powers confront each and compete with each other .
The lines and policies for the independent reunification of Korea put forward by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN are fair and realistic ones . The world progressive people must campaign in support of them and put before the public the truth about the situation on the Korean peninsula . The double dealing nature of the south Korean authorities must be exposed .
We are sure that inspired by the teachings of respected Marshal
KIM JONG UN , the entire Korean people will defeat the anti-reunification forces and open up a new avenue for peace and reunification .
