Some reactionaries and the liberal 'human rights " lobby rant about "slave camps " in the DPRK . Let's nail these nonsense of the anti-DPRK trolls once and for all.
There is no such as a "slave camp "in People's Korea and no such thing as "Gulags " (Gulag being a Russian word that has no meaning in Korean ) . Slavery and bonded labour were made illegal in People's Kore after liberation . The original Labour Law of 1946 and the subsequent Socialist Labour Law of 1978 abolished exploitation and guaranteed the independent and creative labour of the DPRK. The employment of people under the age of 16 is strictly prohibited , the working day is limited to 8 hours and 7 hours for heavy work.
The booket " Understanding Korea - Human Rights " states that "The DPRK regards independence of a human being as his or her life and soul, and never tolerates slavery which deprives him or her of his or her independence.
There exist no such acts as human trafficking, prostitution and forced labour. If such acts are
committed, severe punishment is meted out by law."
As to the idea of "slave camps ", "concentration camps " , "prison camps " etc . I can say that I have visite the DPRK 15 times and never seen a hint of such a thing. Moreover the evidence offered for them is tales from "defectors " or satellite images . In fact the satellite images actually show ordinary towns and cities ,factories , residential areas . The celebrity defector Shin claimed a whole region was the "Camp 14 Total Control Zone " . Camp 14 Total Baloney Zone more like !!! . In fact the area has major road and rail links to Mt Myohyang and the Chinese border running through it . KFA members visiting the DPRK have said that they have seen normal areas where satellite photos show supposed labour camps.
So do not get fooled by the "human rights " gang and their false propaganda .
