Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson Friday dedicates an article to World Day of Human Rights.
The article says that it is a very important issue for a human being, the most valuable entity in the world, to lead a life with genuine independent rights and dignity.
For this reason, the World Declaration of Human Rights was adopted at the 3rd session of the United Nations General Assembly on Dec. 10, 1948, says the article and goes on:
The human rights issue presents itself as a pressing question before the world community amid the people's daily-increasing demand for the protection of human rights.
What matters is that there are forces who abuse the demand and desire of the international community for the protection of human rights in attaining their sinister political purpose. The West set its own-style "standard of human rights" and evaluates and "judges" other countries and nations on the basis of it. Not content with this, it is engrossed in interference in their internal affairs and launches armed invasions of those countries and nations under the pretext of "protection of human rights".
The West applies double-standards by which it abuses human rights that must be regarded as the holy one for the purpose of attaining its sinister political purpose, while covering its serious situation in which a lot of people are denied even the elementary right to existence and have their human rights ruthlessly violated. It is due to these double-standards that political contradiction and frictions among countries escalate across the world, generating even grave humanitarian issues.
Under the socialist system of our country centered on the popular masses in which people are regarded as the most sacred entity and everything serves them, the working people enjoy genuine democratic freedom and rights.
All the people are leading an independent and worthwhile life with hope for the rosy future, now when social policies are being consistently enforced to ensure the people's happiness and wellbeing and the whole society is replete with the harmonious climate of helping and leading one another forward.
It is the firm attitude of our Party and government to provide the people with happy and civilized life to be envied by the world while bearing the responsibility for their destiny despite any storm and stress. -0-
