Pyongyang, October 21 (KCNA) -- The working people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea enjoy rest at sanatoria and holiday homes at state expense. After the liberation of the country from the Japanese colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung took measures to turn villas and pleasure resorts belonging to Japanese imperialists, landlords and capitalists into rest centers for the working people and build new holiday homes in beauty spots, hot-spring spots and mineral resorts. Under his care night rest homes were built at industrial establishments and rest centers in frontline areas for servicepersons during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953). In the postwar period, destroyed rest homes were reconstructed and new ones built. He gave field guidance to many rest homes throughout the country. True to the intention of the President, General Secretary Kim Jong Il also visited rest homes, paying deep concern to the health and rest of the working people. Such famous mountains as Kumgang, Myohyang and Chilbo, and other beauty spots with hot spring and mineral water have holiday homes to accommodate a large number of working people. Now available in the country are a 15-day after-work rest system, a 30-day rest system and 5-day and 15-day recreation systems. The state pays for the management of all the sanatoria and holiday homes and for the vacationers' going there and back
