The UK Korean Friendship Association hosted the international meeting of the Korean Friendship Association (KFA) on November 19th 2011. The title of the meeting was 'Glorifying the 100th birth Anniversary of the Great Leader KIM IL SUNG" It was held at the Marchmont Centre in central London.

It was attended by Alejandro Cao De Benos president of the KFA, Bjornar Simonsen international counsellor of the KFA and delegates of the following countries , UK,Spain, Norway, Netherlands,Germany Switzerland , France and Malta. Messages and speeches were also received from the following countries, Mexico, Catalonia , New Zealand , Italy, Germany,Macedonia and Venezuela. Regrettably the UK Foreign Office prevented delegates from Pakistan, Bangladesh , Thailand and Russia from attending. It is not clear whether this was bureaucracy or politically motivated
A message from the DPRK Embassy ,London was received and also a message from Zo Il Min of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti Imperialist National Democratic Front of south Korea.
During the morning session which was KFA only. The meeting was opened by the KFA Official delegate UK who welcomed delegates to London. Alejandro Cao De Benos then made the keynote speech which was followed by that of Bjornar Simenson , KFA international counsellor ,speeches were also made by the KFA Official delegate UK, of Staffordshire KFA. and Martin Lotscher of the Swiss-Korea Committee. Messages and speeches from Germany, Italy, Mexico , New Zealand and Catalonia were read out. A message of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front of south Korea was read out.
Alejandro Cao De Benos said in his speech that
"Frequently people around the world talk about 'personality cult' or 'state religion', but out of their ignorance they cannot understand that the admiration and the lapel pin on the heart of every Korean comes from genuine respect towards a great man that did so much for others but never thought of himself. This is why is our duty and honor to safeguard the works and life of Generalissimo KIM IL SUNG, to spread this knowledge worldwide and shield Korea, the country of Juche against any enemy attack.

KFA, intellectual army of President KIM IL SUNG and General KIM JONG IL has a history of only 10 years, but it has won the support of many people that wants to develop friendship and solidarity ties with DPRK. With the recent incorporation of KFA Bangladesh and KFA Pakistan, and our new branches in Mexico, Venezuela and Chile we amount for more than 15.000 members and following the footsteps of our Great Leaders we are making the impossible possible. With our very limited resources we had achieved to raise our voice in the mass media that before was monopolized by USA, and every interview, conference or video display you organize is having a domino effect that reach thousands of people. For that reason to be active and contribute to our cause can really make a huge difference even if we may think that our work is insignificant"

UK KFA delegate said in his speech said
"The great leader comrade Kim Il Sung was a towering giant of the international communist movement and world revolution.
The great leader President Kim Il Sung was the heroic partisan leader , the mighty
general of Mt Paektu ,of the anti Japanese war who defeated the million strong Kwantung army of Japanese imperialism . He was ever- victorious iron willed commander of the anti US war in the 1950s. Thus the great leader comrade
Kim Il Sung defeated 2 imperialisms in one generation. He is the founder of Juche Korea and led the Korean people to perform great miracles. His life and work spanned most of the 20th century As the Korean historian and writer Mr Baik Bong said the achievements of comrade Kim Il Sung were so vast it was difficult to write about . It was like being a small boat on the big ocean"

Stafforshire KFA said
"The situation around the Korean peninsula remains tense. Only in October 2011, the United States and south Korea conducted large-scale military exercises codenamed "Hoguk". As a form of intimidation against the DPRK, the United States and the Li Myoung Bak clique are carrying out continuous war games such as "Team Spirit" & "Foal Eagle". The United States and its obedient servant south Korea has over the past decade turned their backs on dialogue with the DPRK and is pursuing the policy of confrontation. We must always remember that the DPRK faces hourly and daily the threat of invasion from the world's superpower. Approximately there are about 1,000 nuclear weapons and 40,000 troops stationed in south Korea by the US. Already the Obama Administration is talking about repeating its Middle Eastern strategy in regard to north Korea. So the Songun Politics of KIM JONG IL of attaching importance to arms in the defence of the revolutionary gains and sovereignty of Peoples Korea has proven its validity. For sixty six years the Korean people have endured the misery of national division perpetuated by the United States and by the south Korean puppet regime. Korean reunification looked like a realistic prospect with the June 2000 north-south declaration. Today to call for reunification on the streets on Seoul or anywhere else in south Korea is considered a crime. Under Li Myong Bak, hundreds of thousands of reunification & pro-democracy activists and trade unionists have been jailed. As partisans of Korean solidarity, we must raise the issue of the lack of human rights in south Korea and campaign for the boycott of the Li Myoung Bak dictatorship by democratic public opinion, as the Apartheid regime in south Africa was isolated in the 1980s. November marks the 12th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Friendship Association.Over the decade the KFA has become the authoritative and authentic friendship body promoting solidarity with the DPRK. Perhaps the greatest achievement of the KFA was to spread an understanding of the DPRK among an audience of millions, particularly young people through the medium of the Internet and other sources. The KFA is now regarded as the voice of Peoples Korea, a tribune of truth against a background of distortions and lies which are produced about the DPRK by the Western media. Here in the host country for this international meeting, the UK KFA has considerably consolidated itself over the years. The UK KFA has a strong presence on the net with a number of websites and blogs and has branched out on to Face book. Aswell as conducting work on the net, the UK KFA has been active on the non-virtual sphere too, with the holding various public meetings and DPRK photo & literature exhibitions. The UK KFA has even held demonstrations and pickets outside the US and south Korean embassies regularly. Our success are due to activities of the UK KFA Head Delegate and the KFA membership in Britain. Recently the UK KFA has been able to setup regional branches in other parts of Britain. The UK KFA now has branches in Yorkshire/North East and in Staffordshire. My local county KFA branch is centred in the city of Stoke On Trent has a small but loyal core of members. We aim to establish more KFA branches throughout the UK in the near future. We in the UK KFA and international KFA have alot to be proud of in our track record of furthering the cause of Korean friendship. "

A message was adopted to the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il .

In the afternoon there was a public meeting joined by members of the UK KFA , progressive personalities and the general public as well media. Alejandro Cao De Benos made a powerful speech introducing the DPRK and the work of KFA . He gave a short outline of the DPRK's history. He explained many of the ideas, lines and policies of the DPRK . One part of the talk that I found very important was that Alejandro explained that it was south Korea that had shelled the DPRK for 5 hours a year ago , thus causing the Yongphyong island incident. Many questions were asked provoking wide ranging discussion Questions were on all sorts of topics, the economy, living standards, the DPRK's diplomatic relations, the relationship of the DPRK to the world revolution. One asked about the DPRK's Mansudae housing construction project and was deeply impressed by it.
