BGSJI and KFA UK denounce "Freedom Shield 2025 "

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) and the Korean Friendship Association of the UK ( KFA UK) issued the following joint statement denouncing the US-ROK "Freedom Shield " war exercises against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK ) ;

On the 6th of March the US imperialists and ROK military announced that from the 10th of March to the 21st of March the US and ROK military will carry out the "Freedom Shield 2025 " war exercise against People's Korea . It will run for 11 days .

As the Korean Central News Agency(KCNA (  of the DPRK commented " In every March, a bleak war wind blows for sure from the southern part of the Korean Peninsula." . KCNA also pointed out that "The Freedom Shield in 2025 will soon bring a storm of aggravated situation to the Korean Peninsula as it has repeatedly undergone the worst change with all its existing features of evil"

The US and ROK puppet military admitted that they are increasing the scale of the exercises . Last year 10 brigade level training exercises were held but this year it 16 , a 60 per cent increase . This just goes to show that the US imperialists are increasing military pressure on the DPRK .

Moreover satellite countries of the US that are members of the US controlled "United Nations Command "(UNC ) will join the exercises giving them a multi-national dimension .It is not clear which countries will join . We denounce any British participation in the exercises .

War exercises can easily go over to actual war . Such exercises are carried on the premise that there will actually be a war , they are not a deterrent but aggressive in intent .Tthe Freedom Shield drill is a rehearsal for invading People's Korea and colonizing the northern part of Korea. Freedom Shield is aimed at overthrowing the socialist system of the DPRK.

The fact that Freedom Shield 2025 is going ahead shows that Trump's talk of dialogue with the DPRK is meaningless .

We urge that "Freedom Shield 2025 " is cancelled and that all provocations against People's Korea are ended !
