Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are planning to change the term "ability to attack enemy base" which they have long aspired to.
They are said to examine the plan for changing the term "ability to attack enemy base" into "self-defensive counterattack capability" and "active self-defensive capability" in order to avoid the "misunderstanding" of the former as a "preemptive attack capability".
Withdrawing the plan for deploying Aegis Ashore Interceptor missile systems deployed on land, Japan trumpeted about the said ability again. Japan's such moves have been denounced not only by Japan itself but by the world as an act away from the principle of "exclusive defense" and a violation of article 9 of the Constitution which prohibits the rights to fight and have army.
The Japanese reactionaries' current move to change the said term against this backdrop is a cunning trick peculiar to Japan that attempts to calm down the vigilance of the surrounding countries and legally possess the preemptive attack capability.
Moreover, Japan invented only such names highlighting "self-defense", the sign of its intention to cover up the nature of preemptive attack and invasion.
This reminds one of the ostrich policy.
Japan only seeks to achieve its ambition for overseas expansion by making its military force an armed force of aggression and attack worthy of the name, no matter what name it has.
Actually, Japan's recent military move is undesirable.
Allegedly to replace the plan for deploying Aegis Ashore that had already been withdrawn, Japan is examining, in a diverse way, the plan for transforming the naval escort of the Maritime "Self-Defense Force" into the one of offensive posture and building new Aegis ships.
It keeps purchasing Osprey transport plane needed for operating the amphibious task force of the Ground "Self-Defense Force" and has bought more than 100 "F-35" stealth fighters and cruise missiles, and is developing the fighters of the next generation and supersonic missiles to beef up its military muscle.
Meanwhile, it decided that the Maritime "Self-Defense Force" would participate in the 2020 RIMPAC joint military exercises and is unprecedentedly stepping up the overseas dispatch and military drill of the "Self-Defense Force".
All these moves are too dangerous to be taken as a "necessary, minimum step for self-defense" as touted by the Japanese authorities.
It is a stereotyped trick of Japan to invent an excuse for becoming a military giant and launching overseas expansion while getting vocal about "threat from outside".
It will be foolhardy for Japan to calculate that it can deceive the world public opinion with such a foolish trick.
The international community clearly sees through the island nation's ambition for invasion. -0

74 years since women became equal in People's Korea !
74 years ago today People's Korea took a revolutionary and radical measure that struck hard at centuries old feudal oppression of women . The law made women legally equally with men in all fields of society . Under feudalism in Korea women had been severely oppressed , they were not allowed out of the home and some women did not even have their own name ( they were just referred to as 'mother of ....." ) .
The law gave women equal pay some 29 years before British women enjoyed the same rights under the Equal Pay Act of 1975.
In the DPRK practical measures have been taken to ensure equality for women such as a big network of kindergartens and nurseries including even 24/7 nurseries . Women with more than 3 children can work for 6 hours but get paid for 8 hours . This measure does not have parallels in other countries .
In People's Korea women hold many important positions such as vice Foreign Minister , member of the State Affairs Commission , Member of the Political Bureau of the Workers Party of Korea , deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly , managers of factories and headteachers of schools.
Women in People's Korea have their own organisation , the Socialist Women's Union of Korea which has branches everywhere and represents women .
A healthy climate has been created . Prostitution was prohibited by the 1946 law and pornography is nowhere to be seen in the DPRK ! Contrast this with the capitalist countries and US-occupied south Korea . Capitalist countries are flooded with pornography , it is everywhere and creates a climate of sexual violence and objectifying women . In south Korea many women serve as prostitutes for the US army and in south Korea in the 1960s the sex industry accounted for almost 25% of south Korea's total gross national product !!! ( what a scandal !) .

The Law on Sex Equality was promulgated in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on July 30, Juche 35(1946).
The promulgation of the law brought about a change in the status and role of the Korean women. The Korean women, who had long been subjected to all kinds of social bondage and inequality, humiliation and contempt, came to participate in the socio-political life full-fledgedly with the equal rights with men.
After the liberation of Korea, the great leader Kim Il Sung led the women to take an active part in the building of the country, saying the right of sex equality is not the gift from others but should be obtained by the efforts and struggle of the women themselves.
The great leader Kim Jong Il put forward the women as a powerful force pushing forward the revolution and construction and saw to it that the history of attaching importance to women continues on this land.
He said the Korean women play an important role in the revolution and construction, further enhancing their social status and role.
Today, the Korean women's movement is greeting a new heyday under the guidance of the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
Here is Ri Kyong Suk, Chairwoman of the Taehung-dong Primary Committee of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea in Songyo District of Pyongyang City.

Recollections of My 2013 visit to People's Korea for the 60th anniversary of victory in the Fatherland Liberation War
I traveled to the DPRK via Beijing . I had a complicated journey firstly Heathrow to Berlin Tegel on British Airways , then Berlin to Beijing on Hainan airways . I had a one night stop over in Beijing at the Capital Airport hotel .
Together with the other international delegates I arrived in Pyongyang July 23rd . I was greeted at the airport by my guide for the visit Mrs Kim Un OK secretary general of the Korean Committee for Friendship with the British People and desk officer of the Europe Dept of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.
Many delegations thronged to Pyongyang for the celebrations . Notably KFA President Alejandro Cao De Benos led a big delegation of KFA International and KFA Spain . There was also a Spanish Communist Youth delegation which included KFA members. My good friend Martin Lotscher from KFA Switzerland was there . Also a famous Russian woman writer who lives in Ireland and is a KFA member was there . There were many friendship and solidarity organisations present as well different communist and workers parties . Ramsey Clark the former US attorney general and peace campaigner was there . Of course not everyone there was a real friend of the DPRK ; there were dodgy elements like Choson Exchange who are basically a spy outfit aiming to restore capitalism in the DPRK and also a huge horde of Western capitalist journalists .
We stayed in the Yanggakaddo hotel which has 43 floors and is situated on an island on the River Taedong. The rooms command a birds eye of Pyongyang city and there is an excellent revolving restaurant which serves the most delicious food. On the ground floor there was several restaurants and a number of shops that sell DPRK made products .
The weather was boiling hot . I remember the sweat literally pouring out of my body like a stream . It proved to be too much for the bloke from Thompson Reuters who was overcome by the heat at the big Military parade .
On July 27th Victory day we enjoyed a special lunch in the revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel . You could actually see the military vehicles for the parade lining the streets of Pyongyang .
It was not all banquets , parades and ceremonies . We participated in practical solidarity actions . There was a big International Peace March . This started with a rally at the monument to the Three Charters for Reunification . We marched with banner and then got on coaches to go to Kaesong . We stopped at the excellent motorway service station . Here I suddenly heard a plummy English voice behind and it was the late Stuart Munro of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain ML ( there were a total of 3 UK delegations ; UK KFA , RCPBML and CPGBML ) . At Kaesong we went to Panmunjom and then in the afternoon we marched through the streets of Kaesong . The young women of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries carried our UK KFA banner through the streets . I felt proud . Then there was a mass rally of about 10,000 people at which I was one of the speakers . It was incredible .
I met many old friends such as comrade Alejandro and other KFA activists such as Martin Lotscher . Alejandro has a great sense of humour and his witty observations made me laugh . I was able to meet comrade Zo Il Min the head of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front of south Korea . Also myself and another KFA member met an old mutual friend who used to work a DPRK foreign trade organisation in Beijing '
Such warm and unforgettable memories !
I am sure that the DPRK will splendidly celebrate the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War on grand scale and hope UK KFA can send a big delegation.

Law on Sexual Equality in North Korea July 30 1946
ARTICLE 1: Women have equal rights to men economically, culturally, socially, and politically in all areas of life of the nation.
ARTICLE 2: Women have the same rights as men to vote and be elected in the regional as well as the highest national organs.
ARTICLE 3: Women have the same rights as men to workers' rights, equal wages, social insurance, and education.
ARTICLE 4: Women, like men, have the right to free marriage. Unfree and forced marriage without the consent of those marrying is prohibited.
ARTICLE 5: When it becomes difficult to continue the married relationship, women have the same rights as men to free divorce. The right to litigation to demand child support payments from the ex-husband is acknowledged, and such cases shall be processed at the People's Court.
ARTICLE 6: The legal marriageable age shall begin at seventeen for women and eighteen for men.
ARTICLE 7: Polygamy is a feudal practice from the Middle Ages and sales of women as wives or concubines are hereby prohibited as evil practices that violate women's rights. Licensed prostitution, private prostitution, and the kisaeng [female entertainer] system—kisaeng licenses and schools—are prohibited.
ARTICLE 8: Women have the same rights as men to inherit property and land, and women have the right to be given their share of property and land in cases of divorce.
ARTICLE 9: All Japanese imperial laws and regulations pertaining to Korean women's rights are null and void as of the promulgation of this law. This law takes effect as of the day of promulgation

The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in Korea (BSCPRKP) issued a statement hailing the speech of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN , "The Feats Performed by the Great Victors Will Remain for Ever" which was delivered to the 6th National Conference of War Veterans of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held on the 27th of July which is War Victory Day in the DPRK;

KIM JONG UN pays high tribute to the war veterans of the Korean People's Army stressing the great significance of July 27th War Victory Day which would not have been possible without the sacrifice of the war veterans whom he refers to as " valuable teachers,' adding that 'We cannot think of our country today without remembering the sweats and blood shed by the generation of the victors in the war, the great spirit they demonstrated and the ennobling sacrifice of the warriors.'. This shows great humility on the part of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN as well as profound respect for the elders and veterans of the revolution . Indeed it is a fact than in People's Korea unlike capitalist countries war veterans are treated well and treated with respect.
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN elaborates the historical , political and ideological significance of the great Fatherland Liberation War as it was not only an all-out war between independence and dominationism but also a war between capitalism and socialism . After July 27th 1953 the DPRK took an important place in the world inspiring the peoples of the world in their struggle for independence, socialism and national liberation . Moreover the present reality of the DPRK as an independent country , a socialist country and a people's country would not be possible without July 27th .
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN stresses that "The Fatherland Liberation War, which made one clearly aware of the aggressive and brutal natures of the US imperialism and never forget them". This shows that the DPRK has not lowered its guard , it is keeping up an anti-imperialist position mindful of the aggressive and brutal nature of US imperialism which can never change.
Turning to the present respected Marshal KIM JONG UN points out how the DPRK has defended itself successfully and prevented the outbreak of war by building up its own defence power .The DPRK has advanced along the road of self-development to become a nuclear state . As respected Marshal KIM JONG UN says ''Thanks to our reliable and effective self-defence nuclear deterrence, the word war would no longer exist on this land, and the security and future of our state will be guaranteed for ever.". Thus peace rests on the nukes of the DPRK .
The lessons of the past are recalled as Marshal KIM JONG UN says ' We have never forgotten your rancour that you had to turn back in bitter tears after burying your fallen comrades-in-arms on the shore of the Raktong near the South Sea of Korea owing to a shortage of arms. Always remembering the truth that only when we have our sovereignty and right to existence guaranteed, can we achieve and promote happiness and in order to defend the destiny of our state and people, we must have strong power of our own, we will not halt even a moment on the road of building up the most powerful defence capabilities which no one would dare to challenge." Therefore it is correct that the DPRK has its own self-reliant defence industry and does not rely on others for its defence.
Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN warns the enemies of People's Korea that 'We will not allow others to look down upon us and, if they do so, make them pay dearly." This warning should be heeded by the imperialists ,
The need to not only recall the lessons of the past but to apply them in practice is summed up by the slogan put forward by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN ' "Let us live and struggle in the spirit of the great defenders of the country!'. This is a most appropriate and apt slogan that will inspire the Korean people towards final victory .
To conclude this is a fine and excellent speech which stresses respected for the revolutionary war veterans and to draw strength from them . We hope that the speech will be widely distributed and studied by Juche Idea followers , Songun idea followers and true friends of People's Korea.

Rest In Peace comrade Nina Andreeva , friend of People's Korea
Nina Andreeva was famous for the 1988 letter ' I cannot give up my principles ' . Nina was well known as a militant anti-revisionist communist and a true Soviet patriot .
Also Nina was a great friend friend of Peoples 'Korea and advocate of the Juche Idea . Nina gave a lecture at KIM IL SUNG University in October 1992 titled the ' Cause of Socialism Is Invincible ' . She met both President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL. She spoke at an International Juche idea seminar in Copenhagen . Whilst some Western communist parties were dismissive of Juche or hostile to Juche Nina embraced it saying ' The Juche idea and its principle are being acknowledged by the wider public in the world . They are being embraced by increasing numbers of the people . The revolutionary parties are being infused with this idea and principle because of the revolutionary evidences in the DPRK -evidence of rapid development in a socialist country achieved despite the isolation , which was both conditioned by the imperialists and created by the assistance of the Soviet opportunists - have demonstrated the tremendous potential of socialism in Korea '.

Esteemed comrades war veterans,
This is July 27.
The victorious July 27 is the day when all the people born on this land celebrate with surging emotions the great victory in the war that is etched in the past history, repeating the word victory.
Greeting the holiday of victory today, I am seeing you, esteemed war veterans, again, who created the great history, at this conference. I am so happy that I cannot find words to express my feelings.
It is an honour for us to have you, valuable teachers, at this conference.
Greeting the 67th anniversary of victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War, I, on behalf of our Workers' Party of Korea and government, extend warm congratulations to you participating in this conference and other veterans of the war and people who performed wartime merits.
I also extend noble respects to the revolutionary martyrs, both sung and unsung, who sacrificed their precious lives in the sacred war for achieving the reunification and independence of their country and the freedom and happiness of their fellow people.
Availing myself of this opportunity, I offer my noble respects to the martyrs and veterans of the Chinese People's Volunteers, who set a genuine example of militant friendship by helping our people in their revolutionary war at the cost of blood.

The major and profound meaning of our victorious July 27 in modern history is never confined to the fact that a country and nation defended their dignity and sovereignty in a fight against the aggressors and created a military miracle that would shine in the annals of the human history of war.
The great Fatherland Liberation War was a grim war for defending our Republic in its cradle and the destiny and future of tens of millions of our people and, at the same time, the first all-out war between the forces aspiring after independence and the dominationist forces, between socialism and capitalism, that was fought with the start of the Cold War after the Second World War. As such, no precedent could be found in the fierceness and the seriousness of the confrontation. We could not be compared to the enemy in all aspects including the military hardware and economic strength as well as population and territory, but in this war our new-born Republic checked the military offensive by the US imperialists, who had been boasting of being the "strongest" in the world, and their vassal forces and defended its territory and sovereignty at the cost of blood. This was a greatest event that wrote an unprecedented heroic and legendary tale in the histories of our nation and the world revolution. The July 27 constituted a turning point in making our country and people that had been reduced to a weak state and nation take pride of place in history as a heroic country and people admired by the world and in bringing about violent storms of revolutions for anti-imperialist independence, socialism and national liberation on the globe.
But for the great July 27, there would not have been today of socialist Korea demonstrating its glories as the most dignified and independent powerful country, a people's country, in the present-day world and the imperialists' high-handed attempts to put Asia and the rest of the world in the sphere under their domination would not have been checked. It defined the orientation of the new great history of the postwar socialist revolution and construction, created the proud traditions and wealth with which our country and people could achieve victory for ever, transformed the global political landscape and forcefully propelled the trend of the times towards independence and socialism–this is another great meaningfulness of the July 27.
The victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was the victory of the ennobling patriotism and mass heroism of our service personnel of the Korean People's Army and people, the victory of justice and progress over injustice and reaction and the victory of socialism, the future of mankind, over capitalism, the refuse of history.
The Fatherland Liberation War, which made one clearly aware of the aggressive and brutal natures of the US imperialism and never forget them, deprived all the people on this land of their parents, brothers and sisters and their precious comrades-in-arms and friends, and brought them disastrous misfortunes and pains. However, thanks to the legendary feats of the victorious wartime generation, who overcame all those pains and trials, the great spirit of defending the country and revolution was created and unparalleled heroism, self-sacrifice and fortitude became solid as traits unique to our people.
Our victorious wartime generation is a proud generation that created a new history of carrying forward the Korean revolution by dedicating their blood and lives and developed the revolutionary spirit of Paektu into an all-people ideological spirit. Thanks to the service personnel, who defended every inch of their motherland at the cost of blood with the steely faith that they would surely emerge victorious as long as they were led by Comrade Kim Il Sung, and to the people on the home front, who dedicated their all to the victory in the war, the spirit of unity around the leader, the indefatigable spirit of fighting the enemy to the death and the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance of making weapons with bare hands could be displayed highly as a mettle of heroic Korea. That is why our Party holds in high esteem and give prominence to the victorious wartime generation, who brought about the victory at the cost of blood amid the flames of the war, as a proud generation who laid a cornerstone for carrying forward our revolutionary traditions.
They are also heroes who, true to the Party's call, established a socialist system and laid the foundations of an independent, powerful country in the spirit of Chollima, and great teachers who implanted an ennobling spirit and soul in the hearts of the rising generations. In the days when they played the key roles in all sectors, our socialist construction witnessed the fastest eye-opening advance and upsurge, and the tales of their feats have served as sustenance and an excellent textbook of revolutionary life and outlook on life for the peacetime generations who have not undergone the experience of a war.
They, indeed, are excellent revolutionaries and patriots and invaluable treasures of our revolution who, though they themselves experienced trials, have devoted their all to the rising generations by invariably and faithfully supporting the Party and the leader in the whole course, beginning with the grim war days to the days of postwar reconstruction and socialist construction. Our Party regards it as a source of great pride and honour to have such revolutionary forerunners as you, who have cherished an ennobling view on the rising generation and on the revolution, and gives prominence to the victorious wartime generation as models whom everyone should learn from for all ages.
Esteemed comrades war veterans,
The history of nearly 70 years after the war cannot be called peacetime as a fierce confrontation with the enemy has continued, and the threat and pressure by the imperialists to invade and plunder our state have increased moment by moment.
With the spirit and will of victory brought about by the immortal July 27, we chose on our own accord the arduous road of strengthening the national power, looking towards a bright future of our state, and have never changed our choice, tightening our belts, when others were vying with one another for the pursuit of immediate "prosperity."
As we must have an absolute strength with which to prevent and deter the war itself so as not to experience once again the pains and sufferings of the war in the 1950s, we have advanced along the road of self-development toward a nuclear state by braving all pressures and challenges and overcoming unprecedented adversity which would have brought others to their knees one hundred times. And now we have become able to reliably defend ourselves against any form of high-intensity pressure and military threat by imperialist reactionaries and other hostile forces.
War is an armed clash which can be unleashed only against a weak one.
None can now make little of us.
We will not allow others to look down upon us and, if they do so, make them pay dearly.
Thanks to our reliable and effective self-defence nuclear deterrence, the word war would no longer exist on this land, and the security and future of our state will be guaranteed for ever.
We celebrate July 27 every year from one generation to the next, but the day of this year, when our state has secured the strategic position the world cannot ignore but recognize, brings us a special emotion, and the significance of the victory in the war and the exploits of performed by the war veterans have become more valuable and prideful.

A long time has passed and many things have changed since the gunshots of the war ended, but the ennobling spirit the war martyrs and veterans displayed is still here, encouraging our people to a renewed struggle.
In the faces of you, war veterans, we are now visualizing the images of all the comrades-in-arms who failed to come back from the front in those grim years and the unforgettable martyrs who devoted themselves for socialist construction, and are girding ourselves to make redoubled efforts so as to be proud of ourselves before them. Just as you wrote a new chapter in the history of building a prosperous country by brilliantly carrying forward the traditions of the anti-Japanese struggle, the new generations of today will achieve the final victory of socialism of our own style without fail by inheriting your spirit.
The history of the victorious war teaches us the iron truth that a people armed with a great spirit can work a great miracle.
By etching the spirit in the 1950s in the minds of all the service personnel and people in golden letters, our Party will ensure that every one of them becomes a fighter who remains unchanged in any adversities and leads the life of artists of fresh miracles and victories so that they have no feeling of shame in front of the martyrs and war veterans.
We have never forgotten your rancour that you had to turn back in bitter tears after burying your fallen comrades-in-arms on the shore of the Raktong near the South Sea of Korea owing to a shortage of arms. Always remembering the truth that only when we have our sovereignty and right to existence guaranteed, can we achieve and promote happiness and in order to defend the destiny of our state and people, we must have strong power of our own, we will not halt even a moment on the road of building up the most powerful defence capabilities which no one would dare to challenge.

What the fighters of the war pictured in their minds so dearly in the so many days and nights of the do-or-die battles must have been a beautiful people's paradise which would be built in the 3 000-ri land. Our Party will strive with redoubled courage to realize the forerunners' dream and ideal of a powerful country without fail and make our people the happiest in the world.
All the people should glorify their lives as victors on the road of making their country prosperous, viewing themselves in the light of the lives of the victorious wartime generation. The present conditions and situation are difficult, but they are nothing when compared to those during the war days.
Our Party will make sure that all officials, Party members and other working people achieve proud victories on all fronts of socialist construction by holding up the slogan "Let us live and struggle in the spirit of the great defenders of the country!"
It will also prepare all the service personnel to be versatile, a-match-for-a-hundred combatants who have acquired the indomitable revolutionary spirit, valiant militant mettle and lofty patriotism cherished by the war veterans as part of their mental qualities and are well-versed in our style of warfare.
The history of victorious war hands down to posterity the feats of numerous heroes including Ri Su Bok, Jo Kun Sil and Kang Ho Yong in connection with the word youth. The Party will bring up all young people to be hot-blooded loyal persons and staunch revolutionaries who take the Party and country into account first and are ready to dedicate themselves for the sake of society and the collective like those heroes who unhesitatingly dedicated their only lives for the one and only country in the face of death.
In this way, it can ensure that our great traditions of our ideology and system you defended at the cost of your blood and our victory is carried forward from one generation to the next.
It will ensure that the climate of respecting, holding up and according preferential treatment to war veterans and other forerunners in the revolution is created across society and becomes an unshakable national trait.
Our Party will look after you, war veterans, with all sincerity and hold full responsibility for your health and life so that you can become more vigorous even though you are getting older continue to add brilliance to your glorious life in good health.
It will make sure that Party organizations, government bodies, working people's organizations at all levels and all the people regard it as part of their noble obligation and duty to take good care of war veterans as they would do their own parents, and do all they can do for them.
Although time passes and one generation is replaced by another, the heroic fighting spirit and undying feats of the victorious wartime generation will boil the red blood of our descendants harder for all eternity and the great spirit and feats will live for ever with the victorious advance of our revolution.
Esteemed comrades veterans,
You, staunch war veterans, defeated the US imperialists that had boasted of being the "strongest" in the world and the armies of their followers and weathered those severe years and all sorts of hardships; but as the saying goes that time and tide wait for no man, many of the veterans have passed away and the hair of you, present here, has turned gray. Seeing this, I feel sorry and regretful that time flies.
Comrades war veterans, I wish and wish you good health.
I sincerely request the respected war veterans across the country to lead a long life in good health, serving as the eternal source of our strength and spiritual mainstay.

6th National Conference of War Veterans Held
Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, was present at the conference.
War veterans and persons of wartime merits who displayed unrivaled bravery and self-sacrificing spirit out of boundless loyalty to the leader attended the conference.
Present there were chairmen of provincial Party committees, officials of ministries, national institutions and armed forces organs, faculty members and students of revolutionary schools, and youth and students of Pyongyang.
Amid the playing of the welcome music, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un appeared at the platform of the conference with war veterans.
All the participants raised stormy cheers of "hurrah!" in great reverence and trust in Kim Jong Un who represents the might and dignity of Juche Korea and the symbol of invincibility.
Kim Jong Un warmly acknowledged the war veterans, genuine patriots who made an immortal contribution in the country's history of victory in the war.
Seated at the platform were Choe Yong Rim, Yang Hyong Sop, Thae Jong Su, Ri Myong Su, Ri Yong Mu, O Kuk Ryol, Kim Si Hak and other war veterans who served as cadres of the Party and the state and senior officials of the armed forces organs for a long period.
Also ascending the platform were Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, first vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, and Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee.
Officials of the Party and state Ri Pyong Chol, Ri Il Hwan, Choe Hwi, Choe Pu Il, Ri Man Gon, O Su Yong, Jo Yong Won, Kim Yo Jong, Kim Yong Hwan, Pak Jong Nam, Ri Hi Yong, Kim Jong Ho and officials of working people's organizations took the platform.
Together with them were Pak Jong Chon, Kim Jong Gwan and other leading officials of the armed forces organs.
Kim Jong Un made a significant congratulatory speech at the conference.
He extended warm congratulations to the war veterans who participated in the conference, all the participants in the Fatherland Liberation War and persons of wartime merits on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
He also paid noble tributes to the well-known and unsung revolutionary martyrs who dedicated their valuable lives to the sacred war for the country's reunification and independence and people's freedom and happiness and the fallen fighters of the Chinese People's Volunteers who set a genuine example of militant friendship while helping the Korean people in their revolutionary war at the cost of blood, and war veterans.
Highly appreciating the heroic life of the generation who performed the undying feats and created the noble fighting spirit in the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War true to the guidance of President Kim Il Sung, he expressed great belief that the war veterans would successfully hand down the spirit of the 1950s to the rising generation as the bloodline of faith.
The participants in the conference were greatly excited by the congratulatory speech full of high appreciation, respect, noble comradely loving care and noble revolutionary obligation for the participants in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
As soon as Kim Jong Un finished his speech, loud cheers of "hurrah!" resounded around the venue of the conference once again.
All the participants extended the greatest glory and the warmest thanks to Kim Jong Un who holds up the war veterans as the honorable master who made the great history and laid a foundation of the independent power and bestows all sorts of benevolence on them.
Kim Sung Un, hero of the Republic who is a lecturer of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, made a speech addressed to the rising generation.
Saying that Kim Il Sung who is the national liberator and illustrious leader of new Korea meant the country and the pillar of faith for the Korean people and fighters of the People's Army during the days of the war, he stressed that the war veterans brought about July 27 of victory by fighting in the indomitable faith that they could never be deprived of the land and the thankful country liberated by Kim Il Sung and with a unique thought that they have to kill the enemy even though they might die one hundred times.
Saying that the war veterans take pride in handing down the spirit of defending the country to the rising generation as a heritage, he expressed the absolute conviction that the DPRK would certainly win victories thanks to Kim Jong Un, the iron-willed commander.
He stressed that our country would certainly win victory, asking the rising generation to uphold well Kim Jong Un who devotes himself for the people's dignity and happiness and believing, holding and following only our Party despite any trial, bearing in mind the spirit of defending the country and spirit of defending the revolution displayed in the 1950s as their faith.
Then, Jo Chun Hyok, student of Kim Il Sung University, made a resolution speech on behalf of youths and Ji Yong Min, officer of the Korean People's Army on behalf of the service personnel.
Speakers extended warm congratulations and militant salute to the war veterans who participated in the 6th National Conference of War Veterans, reflecting the mind of the youth and service personnel across the country.
They said that the war veterans who honorably defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country from the imperialists' gangster-like invasion and handed down the indomitable spirit of defending the country as their valuable heritage are clearly kept in their minds as the model of true soldier.
They stressed that they would become the youth heroes, who dedicate their lives for the sake of the Party, revolution and country by carrying forward the spirit and soul in the great era of winning victory in the war, and invariably and single-mindedly believe in and follow only our Party in any storm and stress.
They made a firm resolution to devotedly defend the Central Committee of the Party headed by Kim Jong Un and implement the Party's policies in the van, bearing in mind that the history of winning victory in the war and victory of socialism are guaranteed only by the spirit of devotedly defending the leader.
Kim Jong Un extended warm greetings to the war veterans across the country, warmly congratulating them once again upon performing the immortal exploits which would shine long in the history of the country.

Statement of the ICCSS on the 67th anniversary of the Korean People's Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War against US imperialism

The International Central Committee for Songun Study issued the following statement on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialist aggressors ;
On July 27th 67 years the US imperialist aggressors knelt down and signed the Korean Armistice
Agreement which signified the victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War.After 3 years of war the US fell to it knees and signed the Armistice Agreement on 27th July 1953 . General Mark Clark who signed the agreement for the US could only conclude “ -"I gained the unenviable distinction of being the first United States Army Commander in history to sign an armistice without a victory," . The US’s own narrow and curtailed statistics for its losses in the was showed it lost nearly the same number in 3 years in Korea than it did in 10 years in Vietnam . Overall the US imperialists lost over : 1,567,128 men including 405,498 US soldiers, 1,130,965 south Korean puppet troops, and 30,665 soldiers of their satellite states were killed, wounded or captured; 12,224 airplanes including "air fortress B-29" were downed, damaged or captured, 7,695 guns, 3,255 233 tanks and armoured cars were lost; and 564 warships and vessels including the heavy cruiser Baltimore and the flagship of the Seventh Fleet Missouri were sunk or damaged. The loss suffered by the US imperialists was nearly 2.3 times greater than what they had suffered in the four years of the Pacific War during World War II. It was an appalling loss and a serious military defeat unprecedented in the US history of war.
The victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was achieved due to the brilliant art of command, Juche-based military tactics and Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG , an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist who defeated two imperialism's in the space of one generation .
The Fatherland Liberation War was a just national liberation war as well as a fierce anti-US ,anti-imperialist struggle and a class struggle against the enemies of the people .It was a war to defend the independence and freedom of the Korean people . Also it was a war to defend peace and security and the eastern outpost of the socialist camp.
The victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was not the gift of another country but the result of the self-reliant efforts of the Korean people led by the great leader generalissimo
KIM IL SUNG . Throughout the war the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG stressed to need to oppose dogmatism and flunkeyism and establish . He defeated the anti-party

Dear Comrades,
It’s a pleasure once again to be presenting this piece on the celebration on the Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation war when Socialist Korea defeated the south Korean puppets and the United States imperialists by forcing them into submission.
Southern stooge Rhee claimed Korea must be free of the “Chinese Communists” which we all know was a smoke screen to pursue war against the friendly independent Socialist Korea. Under this smoke screen Rhee sought help from the United States who were more than willing to help.
The war started and the Socialist heroes won against a so called world super power and the southern puppets.
On July 27th, 1953, the defeated imperialists and south Korean puppets were on their hands and knees… They were well and truly defeated! They had no choice but to sign the armistice or they’d be faced with the total oblivion of their forces.
The Great Comrade President KIM IL SUNG said “ In the Korean War, the US imperialists suffered an ignominious military defeat for the first time in the history of the United States; this meant the beginning of a downward path US imperialism”
Whilst the war left Korea in ruins the might and resolve of the Korean people got to work in rebuilding their land embodied with the Chollima spirit and movement. The Korean people further strengthened their victory over imperialism and rebuilt the country better than ever! We see the results of that today, and thanks to Comrades Chairman KIM JONG IL, and
Respected Supreme Leader Marshal KIM JONG UN this spirit is passed through each generation arming them with the iron willed spirit needed to combat imperialism.
I quote Respected Supreme Leader Marshal KIM JONG UN who said on the 25th July, Juche 104 (July 2015) during a Congratulatory speech at the Fourth National Conference of War Veterans.
“ To glorify for generation after generation the immortal
exploits of the great leaders in achieving victory in the war and
leading the Songun revolution and stoutly to carry forward the
heroic fighting spirit, the spirit of defending the country,
displayed by our revolutionary forerunners including the war
veterans is a major strategic policy maintained by our Party in its
effort to put an end to the anti-imperialist, anti-US showdown
and hasten the final victory of the Korean revolution”
“Our strength now is not what it was in the 1950s, when we
had to fight with rifles in our hands against the US imperialists
who were armed to the teeth.
We now possess the strength with which to fight any form of
warfare that may be chosen by the United States.
We have the power to deter the United States from unleashing
a nuclear war.
Gone forever is the era when the United States blackmailed us
with nuclear weapons; now the United States is no longer a
source of threats and fear for us and we are the very source of the
greatest threat and fear for it. This is the current reality.
Independence is justice, and it is an inevitable historical
outcome that justice emerges victorious.
Our cause is just, and no force in the world can check the
advance of our service personnel and people who are marching in
high spirits, rallied single-heartedly behind the Party, cherishing
as their invincible weapon the revolutionary spirit of Paektu and
the spirit of defending the country displayed in the 1950s.
Let us all fight vigorously for final victory”
Speech of Dr Dermot Hudson to the Online Meeting to mark the 67th anniversary of the Victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War against the US aggressors
July 27th is celebrated by the Korean people and world progressive people as a Victory Day because it has gone down in history as the first defeat of US imperialism that inspired the people of the world in their struggle for global independence against US imperialism. To many the Fatherland Liberation War or Korean War i is the unknown war .
It is the unknown war in the West because the US likes to hide its defeat , which is generally not acknowledged in textbooks in the capitalist countries . However US war historian Bevin Alexander(who had actually been a US army officer in Korea) wrote in his book Korea: The First War We Lost ( 1986 ) that “Great efforts to conquer North Korea ended in failure.”
I myself along with other international delegates attended the splendid celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War held in July 2013 including the fantastic military parade which was a sight to behold indeed . The 2013 celebrations underscored the fact the importance of July 27th for the Korean people and world progressive people as well demonstrating the history of victory is everlasting.
The victory of the Korean people against the US imperialists was something that did not happen by itself nor was it due to luck nor was the gift of outside forces to the Korean people as thought by some dogmatists and flunkeyists .The victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War was due to the Juche-orientated military tactics of the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG, an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist.
The Fatherland Liberation War was a very one –sided war , in which the giant colossus of US imperialism , the head of the imperialist camp which commanded a huge global empire of overseas military bases and tame vassal states and puppet regimes, confronted the young and newborn state of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) –People’s Korea or Juche Korea. The US had 15 times the population of the DPRK and 76 times the landmass of the DPRK. Moreover the US had been undefeated in over a 100 wars, during the Second World the US fought over in 2 different continents, Europe and Asia.
The US imperialists threw into the war a huge armed force, numbering two million altogether, including one-third of their ground force boasting of its "up-to-date equipment", one-fifth of their air force, and the greater part of their Pacific fleet, plus troops of 15 of their satellite countries and the south Korean puppet troops. Japanese forces participated in the Korean War in secret wearing the uniform of the south Korean puppet army. Also the forces of the Chiang Kai-shek Taiwan reactionaries participated..

People wondered what chance the DPRK stood of winning the war , of even surviving the onslaught of the US . The US imperialists had ,of course, underestimated the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG and the Korean people. Generalissimo KIM IL SUNG was the legendary hero of the 15 year long anti-Japanese revolutionary war . He had waged guerrilla warfare on the Japanese imperialists from the base on Mt Paektu without the support of a state or a rear base and liberated Korea in 1945.
When the south Korean puppets and US imperialists launched their invasion of the DPRK at dawn on the 25th of June 1950, comrade KIM IL SUNG ordered the Korean People’s Army and Korean People’s Security Forces to launch an immediate counter-offensive against the aggressors. It is rare in history and possibly the only instance in history of an army being able to launch a counter-attack the same day. Usually the attacking forces have the advantage of surprise. However comrade KIM IL SUNG’s art of command and Juche-based revolutionary military tactics outwitted the US imperialist aggressors.
The KPA was able to launch a successful counter-offensive, liberating Seoul, the south Korean puppet capital on June 28th only 3 days after the war . The KPA’s advance was just incredible. The south Korean puppet army collapsed like an ant hill that had been kicked over. The KPA advanced through south Korea like a knife going through butter. The US started to heavily bomb all of Korea and drew into the war forces from some satellite countries. This did not stop the advance of the Juche-orientated Korean People's Army commanded by the great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG. The KPA smashed the Yankees at Osan . The great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG personally commanded the Taejon liberation battle. The U.S. 24th division was totally destroyed in the Taejon battle on July 20, that was the 20th day after its arrival in south Korea. A young People's Army soldier took Dean prisoner , he was the first division commander of U.S. imperialist aggression forces to be taken prisoner in the Korean War.
The KPA and Korean people fought in the revolutionary spirit of self- reliance based on the Juche Idea. The great revolutionary leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG stated “ We must solve our problems no matter who is helping us and what help we get......Victory must be won by our strength”" It was the efforts of the Korean people that were primary in defeating the US imperialist aggressors. During the Fatherland Liberation War the great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG applied unique Juche-orientated military tactics such as tunnel warfare . Later the Vietnamese people were to utilise tunnel warfare in their liberation war against the US imperialists and were aided by DPRK tunnelling experts.
The heroic and glorious KPA commanded by the great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG tore the guts out of US imperialism. The US imperialists lost over : 1,567,128 men including 405,498 US soldiers, 1,130,965 south Korean puppet troops, and 30,665 soldiers of their satellite states were killed, wounded or captured; 12,224 air planes including "air fortress B-29" were downed, damaged or captured, 7,695 guns, 3,255 233 tanks and armoured cars were lost; and 564 warships and vessels including the heavy cruiser Baltimore and the flagship of the Seventh Fleet Missouri were sunk or damaged. The loss suffered by the US imperialists was nearly 2.3 times greater than what they had suffered in the four years of the Pacific War during World War II. Even official US statistics showed during each of the three years of the Korean war they lost double the number of troops for each year of the Vietnam war.
US general Mark Clark lamented mournfully that he was the first US commander to conclude an armistice without a victory .Even right wing conservative British historian Max Hastings wrote" Many American career officers were dismayed by the precedent Korea established: the United States had failed to fight a war to a victorious conclusion." “The infamous anti-communist senator J R McCarthy admitted that “ we suffered a serious defeat in Korea “

The Korean people’s great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was a brilliant victory of the Juche-oriented, Songun -based revolutionary military strategy of President KIM II SUNG, the ever-victorious, iron-willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist, who been steeled in the protracted arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and combined a great revolutionary idea, the Juche idea with outstanding leadership ability and brilliant military art. By leading the Korean people to victory in the Fatherland Liberation War the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG made a great contribution to the world revolutionary movement that will shine down the ages.
It is the unknown war in the West because the US likes to hide its defeat , which is generally not acknowledged in textbooks in the capitalist countries . However US war historian Bevin Alexander(who had actually been a US army officer in Korea) wrote in his book Korea: The First War We Lost ( 1986 ) that “Great efforts to conquer North Korea ended in failure.”
I myself along with other international delegates attended the splendid celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War held in July 2013 including the fantastic military parade which was a sight to behold indeed . The 2013 celebrations underscored the fact the importance of July 27th for the Korean people and world progressive people as well demonstrating the history of victory is everlasting.
The victory of the Korean people against the US imperialists was something that did not happen by itself nor was it due to luck nor was the gift of outside forces to the Korean people as thought by some dogmatists and flunkeyists .The victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War was due to the Juche-orientated military tactics of the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG, an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist.
The Fatherland Liberation War was a very one –sided war , in which the giant colossus of US imperialism , the head of the imperialist camp which commanded a huge global empire of overseas military bases and tame vassal states and puppet regimes, confronted the young and newborn state of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) –People’s Korea or Juche Korea. The US had 15 times the population of the DPRK and 76 times the landmass of the DPRK. Moreover the US had been undefeated in over a 100 wars, during the Second World the US fought over in 2 different continents, Europe and Asia.
The US imperialists threw into the war a huge armed force, numbering two million altogether, including one-third of their ground force boasting of its "up-to-date equipment", one-fifth of their air force, and the greater part of their Pacific fleet, plus troops of 15 of their satellite countries and the south Korean puppet troops. Japanese forces participated in the Korean War in secret wearing the uniform of the south Korean puppet army. Also the forces of the Chiang Kai-shek Taiwan reactionaries participated..

People wondered what chance the DPRK stood of winning the war , of even surviving the onslaught of the US . The US imperialists had ,of course, underestimated the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG and the Korean people. Generalissimo KIM IL SUNG was the legendary hero of the 15 year long anti-Japanese revolutionary war . He had waged guerrilla warfare on the Japanese imperialists from the base on Mt Paektu without the support of a state or a rear base and liberated Korea in 1945.
When the south Korean puppets and US imperialists launched their invasion of the DPRK at dawn on the 25th of June 1950, comrade KIM IL SUNG ordered the Korean People’s Army and Korean People’s Security Forces to launch an immediate counter-offensive against the aggressors. It is rare in history and possibly the only instance in history of an army being able to launch a counter-attack the same day. Usually the attacking forces have the advantage of surprise. However comrade KIM IL SUNG’s art of command and Juche-based revolutionary military tactics outwitted the US imperialist aggressors.
The KPA was able to launch a successful counter-offensive, liberating Seoul, the south Korean puppet capital on June 28th only 3 days after the war . The KPA’s advance was just incredible. The south Korean puppet army collapsed like an ant hill that had been kicked over. The KPA advanced through south Korea like a knife going through butter. The US started to heavily bomb all of Korea and drew into the war forces from some satellite countries. This did not stop the advance of the Juche-orientated Korean People's Army commanded by the great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG. The KPA smashed the Yankees at Osan . The great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG personally commanded the Taejon liberation battle. The U.S. 24th division was totally destroyed in the Taejon battle on July 20, that was the 20th day after its arrival in south Korea. A young People's Army soldier took Dean prisoner , he was the first division commander of U.S. imperialist aggression forces to be taken prisoner in the Korean War.
The KPA and Korean people fought in the revolutionary spirit of self- reliance based on the Juche Idea. The great revolutionary leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG stated “ We must solve our problems no matter who is helping us and what help we get......Victory must be won by our strength”" It was the efforts of the Korean people that were primary in defeating the US imperialist aggressors. During the Fatherland Liberation War the great leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG applied unique Juche-orientated military tactics such as tunnel warfare . Later the Vietnamese people were to utilise tunnel warfare in their liberation war against the US imperialists and were aided by DPRK tunnelling experts.

Report of Online Meeting to mark the 67th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War .
On the 26th of July at 1400 hours the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea , UK Korean Friendship Association and Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK together with DPRK friendship and solidarity organisations from around the world held an online meeting on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the Great Fatherland Liberation War . Participating in the meeting were people from Britain , Bangladesh , Greece , Australia , Ireland ,Italy and Spain . Participants included the general secretary of the New Communist Party of Britain .
Greetings were also received from KFA Serbia , the Brazilian Centre for the Study of Songun Politics and the Stoke On Trent branch of the British Group for the Study of the Juche and Staffordshire KFA .
Dr Dermot Hudson introduced the meeting saying that the anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War was being celebrated in the DPRK and that the 6th national conference of war veterans was being held .
Comrade M. Jahangir Khan of the Bangladesh Songun Politics Study Group brought greetings from Bangladesh .

Representatives of KFA Spain and KFA Italy brought greetings to the meeting and shared their practical experiences in actions in defending the DPRK .
