The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA )  ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in Korea (BSCPRKP) issued a joint statement hailing the speech of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN titled '"The Great Heroic Spirit of the Victorious Wartime Generation Will Be Brilliantly Carried Forward";

  On the 27th of July , the Day of Fatherland Liberation War Victory in People's Korea , respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the supreme leader of People's Korea  made a speech to the 7th Conference of War Veterans of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK ) which was titled '"The Great Heroic Spirit of the Victorious Wartime Generation Will Be Brilliantly Carried Forward". It is significant that the DPRK was able to hold a big and successful  public event such as the War Veterans conference at a time when many countries in the world are in complete chaos .

  In the speech respected Marshal KIM JONG UN pays a very high tribute to the war veterans of the DPRK and thanks them for  defending the independence of Juche Korea during the 1950s .  Respected Marshal  KIM JONG UN pointed out that 'As the courageous defenders of the country in the 1950s repulsed the invasion of the brigandish US imperialists at the cost of their lives, their descendents of several generations have been able to enjoy up to now the dignity of an independent people free from sufferings of slaves'

Thus the independent lives of the people of the DPRK today are the result of the valiant sacrifice made by the KPA veterans during the three years of the Fatherland Liberation War . Therefore the past is linked to the present the fate of the present generation is intimately bound up with the past generation . It is for this reason that the war veterans are upheld as role models and that conferences of war veterans are held.

In the speech respected Marshal KIM JONG UN referred to the present situation in which the hostile forces have tightened their blockade of the DPRK and there is the prolonged worldwide health crisis . He expressed confidence that the Korean people inspired by the example of the War Veterans would win final victory saying that ' However, just as the victorious wartime generation displayed the greatest courage and brought about the greatest victory and honour in the face of the greatest national trials, so our generation, by carrying forward the fine tradition, will turn the present difficulties into a fresh greater victory.'

Our organisations applaud the speech of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  . It is shows the great respect for the preceding generations and calls for learning from their example . The central idea contained in the speech is that guided by the spirit and example of the war veterans the Korean people can overcome any difficulty and win a shining victory just as they did in the 1950s.  

  We are convinced that guided by the correct and revolutionary ideas of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the Korean people will surmount all obstacles and challenges and smash the blockade of the imperialists !

In demand of withdrawal of US hostile policy to north Korea

In demand of withdrawal of US hostile policy to north Korea   Civil organizations including the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration have waged various kinds of actions by having one-man demonstration, holding news conferences and releasing statements in demand of cancellation of south Korea-US joint military exercise and withdrawal of the US hostile policy toward north Korea.     Potential military clash in the Korean Peninsula is due to insistent US policy hostile to north Korea and the US has showed no sign of withdrawal of its hostile policy, they sharply criticized.   They strongly urged the US, which is responsible for division of the Korean Peninsula and armistice system, to cancel the joint military rehearsal.  The Promotion Committee for August 15 Meeting held a news conference in Seoul. It shed light on nature of the joint military exercise aiming at mounting a preemptive strike on north Korea and destroying north Korean system. They express their will to intensify dynamic action for cancellation of the joint military game.     Stop military exercise!

 

Kitchen Maid Grown into Deputy of the DPRK

Protecting the dignity and rights of women represents a legal and moral obligation of a state and society, and how they are treated is an important criterion signifying the civilization level of a given society.

The fate of women in a capitalist society is like a seed fallen on ice. “Respect for women” remains only in words and the existence itself of a woman is the synonym of social inequality in the human rights tundra.

Unequal right to work and daily occurrence of family violence are the epitome of ill-treatment and denial of rights suffered by women in the capitalist society. It is none other than women who are employed most hardly and fired most easily. Even the Western mass media are lamenting that for a woman to find a job in the capitalist society is as difficult as “getting a quart into a pin pot.”

However, the promulgation of the Law on Gender Equality 75 years ago, has enabled the women in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to take part in political, social and cultural life on an equal footing and exercising equal rights with men.

To enjoy equal rights and freedom with men – this was an age-old desire cherished by the Korean women accounting half of the country’s population.

The Korean feature film “Cradle” is about an actual character named Kim Duk Ran, who was one of the first women deputies of the DPRK widely known to the Korean people.

Born into a poor peasant’s family as the eighth child, she had no future owing to grinding poverty and the old practice of inferior treatment of women. Even marriage brought her nothing but the sorrows of a kitchen maid and heavy sighs of grief.

It was not until President Kim Il Sung made her the owner of land and the country that she could lead a new life, and under his warm care, she became an exemplary farmer, an official and the first woman deputy of the DPRK.

A kitchen maid grown into the first female deputy of the DPRK – this vividly showed how the Korean women took a dramatic turn in their destiny from the scorns of family and society to the masters pushing one of the wheels of the revolution.

Today, the Korean women are freely participating in state and social activities and exercising their legitimate political rights at the power organs of all levels.

National priority is given to the role of women, the mothers bringing up posterity who would decide the future destiny of the country. In this regard, women in the DPRK　are benefitting from social preferential treatment policies. The Korean women do not know the meaning of “childbirth expenses” and “hospital charges”, and they give birth to and bring up children while being granted a subsidy equivalent to 100% of their living expenses even during maternity leave. And after delivery, women take active part in social activities without any worries, for there are nurseries and kindergartens not only in residential districts but also in factories and enterprises and the expenses for nursing and upbringing of children are totally borne by the state.

The dignity and honour of our Korean women are shining at the height of glory and happiness as we uphold in high esteem respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, yet another peerless great man.

He faithfully carries forward the noble will and cause of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il. Thanks to his love of giving importance to and respecting women, they are leading a worthwhile life as the flowers of the country, life and family while fulfilling their duties for the prosperity of the country and bright future of posterity and for the unity and harmony of the society and family.

Women are all over the world, but no woman is blessed with the leader and is leading a dignified and proud life through generations like the Korean women.

Respect for Women and Maltreatment against Women

The issue of ensuring the rights of women, a half of country’s population, is one of important criteria for evaluating the level of civilization of a given country and its situation of human rights.

From the early days of the revolutionary activities, President Kim Il Sung regarded the issue of women as one of the key components of social revolution and paid a deep attention to addressing this issue. On July 30, 1946, year after the liberation of Korea, he took a measure to enact and promulgate the “Law on Gender Equality in North Korea.”

During the past 75 years since then, the women in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have grown into powerful force shouldering one of the wheels of revolution, enjoying legal guarantee of their rights to freedom and equality under the full attention and protection of the state and society.

In the field of political life, our women participate freely in the activities of the state and society as full-fledged masters of the country and demonstrate their dignity and honor by making enormous contributions to the development of society.

In the labor field alone, the state provides women with the right to work, right to protection at work and right to social security, all being equal to the rights of men.

The state provides free medical care for our women – flowers of the family and the country – and preferential social benefits to those who have borne many babies, even giving them the title of “maternal heroine.”

This is the reality of our socialist country where women are genuinely provided with all the rights as social beings, including the rights to existence, equality and development.

The Russian Newspaper “Zavtra” and Internet News Krasnaya Vesna carried an article in this regard that women’s issue comes as a serious international problem until today because numerous women in the world are still undergoing sufferings caused by deprivation of political rights and equality, but the women in the DPRK fully display their creative ingenuity and talents in all areas for defending socialism and building an economically strong country and enjoy proud lives, and this is the reality of the DPRK which draws attention of the international society.

Egyptian Newspaper “Al Nashir” and Internet Newspaper “Event” gave a wide coverage of the DPRK, saying that this is the country where the international legal norm for gender equality has been put into reality and the dignity and rights of women are provided at the highest level, and that the women of the DPRK are contributing to the building of prosperous and powerful country, enjoying all the benefits under the care of the Party and the state.

In Japan and other capitalist countries, however, a large number of women are currently undergoing all kinds of contempt and maltreatment such as trafficking in person and family violence, thus being subject to the ruthless infringement upon their dignity and rights.

Nearly 7,000 women committed suicide and the violence against women in families increased by 1.5 times in 2020 alone. This fact fully lays bare the true situation of women’s rights in Japan which is trumpeting too well about human rights.

In March this year, thousands of women in one of capitalist countries gathered in major cities and held massive protests to expose and denounce the aggravating situation of the society beset with the trafficking in women, labor exploitation and sexual violence, and demanded that the government address gender equality and eliminate sexual violence.

Discrimination and maltreatment against women widespread in the capitalist societies are not a mere historical inheritance of male supremacy.

These are the inevitable products borne of the capitalist system where the omnipotence of money, immorality and depravity, and jungle law are rooted in the foundation of society.

So much so that we all keenly realize once again from the two different dramatic realities mirrored in the lives of women that the socialism – where the politics of highly valuing and respecting women are applied – is paradise for women, whereas the capitalism – where the social climate of despising and discriminating against women is prevailing – is hell for women.

75 years of true equality in People's Korea -special article by Dr Dermot Hudson

75 years ago on the 30th of July 1946 People’s Korea under the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG took a momentous revolutionary decision by proclaiming the Law on Sexual Equality in Korea . Of course it was one of the many measures that were taken during the period of the anti-imperialist , anti-feudal democratic revolution such as the Agrarian Reform of March 1946 .

  The Law on Sexual Equality in Korea finally liberated the women of the northern half of Korea ( which was to become the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 1948 ) from the shackles of oppression which had existed for centuries and had become worse under Japanese imperialist colonial rule.

   Under feudalism Korean women were extremely oppressed and downtrodden . They are not allowed to leave the home usually . I remember reading in a biography of the immortal anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter Madame KIM JONG SUK  about how some women in Korea when it was under feudalism and Japanese colonial rule did not even have their own names but were just called ‘ Mother of …..’ . Japanese colonial rule in Korea which began in 1910 made things even worse for Korean women . Not only did Korean women have to face the oppression of Japanese colonial rule and the oppression of feudal society but also the Japanese imperialists subjected over 200,000 Korean women to sexual slavery , an unspeakable which degraded them and subjected them to a fate worse than death . Under Japanese imperialist rule in Korea , women were truly doubly and triply oppressed and exploited .

   During the years of the great anti-Japanese armed struggle, President KIM IL SUNG put the question of liberating women from oppression on the agenda . In THE TEN-POINT PROGRAMME OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE FATHERLAND published on the 5th of May 1936  point 7 stated ‘To abolish the caste system which divides the ryangban (nobles) and the common people, and other inequalities; to ensure equality based on  humanity irrespective of sex, nationality or religion; to improve the social position of women and respect their personalities;’.

   In the exciting period after liberation in 1945  President KIM IL SUNG put into effect the ideas of  THE TEN-POINT PROGRAMME OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE FATHERLAND  . The Law on Sexual Equality in Korea was one such measure which smashed imperialism and feudalism . At a stroke women became legally equal with men and got the right to vote . They also got equal pay for equal work , several decades before their counterparts in the capitalist countries .

  The Law on Sexual Equality was not just a piece of legislation without real meaning , it was backed in practice by measures such as free childcare , free education and other measures . It was also buttressed later by the Socialist Constitution of the DPRK and other legislation ,

  Women in the DPRK became truly equal with men. They became teachers and doctors , they became deputies to the Supreme People’s Assembly and local People’s Assemblies . They became merited sportspeople , merited artistes and merited actors . In Korea before liberation this would have been impossible  ,in fact unthinkable .

Some trendy liberals like to try to criticise Peoples ’Korea over the women’s issue and try to fault find and carp . However it is a fact that firstly , People’s Korea enacted the Law on Sexual Equality decades before many Western countries , secondly it was an earth shaking revolutionary advance compared to what had existed before .  Moreover women in People’s Korea are free from the ‘sex industry ‘ ,that exists in Western capitalist countries and some Asian countries, which degrades women and turns them into objects and playthings.

Today the women of People’s Korea will proudly celebrate 75 years of true equality under the Juche-based , people -centred socialist system.

Speech of Dr Dermot Hudson to the online meeting on Victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War 24.07.2021

In the Western countries there is a lot of myth and mystique surrounding what they like to call the Korean War  or more accurately the Fatherland Liberation War . There are not only myths and distortions about how the war started  but also  as to who won the war .Quite often the war is downplayed or referred to as the unknown war .Sometimes it is referred to as the war before Vietnam .

The reason why is that it was in fact a massive defeat for US and world imperialism . This is even admitted by a right wing US military historian Bevin Alexander who was himself a US officer in the war . In his book Korea: The First War We Lost ( 1986 )  he wrote that “Great efforts to conquer North Korea ended in failure.” Former Daily Telegraph editor Max Hastings said 

" Many American career officers were dismayed by the precedent Korea established: the United States had failed to fight a war to a victorious conclusion."

    

Dear respected Marshal  KIM JONG UN said "Our July 27 is the second Day of Liberation when our people defended with honour their country's dignity and sovereignty from the brigandish aggression by the U.S. imperialists, and also the day of proud victors that put the U.S. imperialists, who were recklessly attempting to gain hegemony in the world and enslave it, on a downhill march towards ruin."

In the DPRK it is said that July follows June meaning that although the Fatherland Liberation War was provoked by the US imperialists and south Korean puppets on the 25th of June 1950 it ended with the DPRK’s victory on the 27th of July 1950 .

                                     

                               

                           

  The heroic and glorious KPA commanded by the great leader Marshal Kim Il Sung tore the guts out of US imperialism.The US imperialists lost over : 1,567,128 men including 405,498 US soldiers, 1,130,965 south Korean puppet troops, and 30,665 soldiers of their satellite states were killed, wounded or captured; 12,224 airplanes including "air fortress B-29" were downed, damaged or captured, 7,695 guns, 3,255 tanks and armoured cars were lost; and 564 warships and vessels including the heavy cruiser Baltimore and the flagship of the Seventh Fleet Missouri were sunk or damaged. The loss suffered by the US imperialists was nearly 2.3 times greater than what they had suffered in the four years of the Pacific War during World War II. Even official US statistics showed during each of the three years of the Korean war they lost double the troops for each year of the Vietnam war.

    US general Mark Clark lamented mournfully that he was the first US commander to conclude an armistice without a victory .

   The Fatherland Liberation War of the Korean people was an unequal battle as the US imperialists threw in huge armed forces plus the troops of 15 of their satellite countries as well the Japanese militarists, not to mention the south Korean puppets. The US imperialists used barbaric methods of warfare exceeding those of the Hitlerlite Nazis. They used germ and chemical warfare and carried out horrendous massacres. All these failed to subdue the Korean people who under the wise leadership of the great revolutionary leader Marshal Kim Il Sung achieved a great victory. The forces of the heroic KPA defeated the so-called "Invincible US 24th Division" on the 20th of July 1950 at Taejon   and  took its commander General Dean prisoner. Dean was the first US general to be captured by an opposing side.Dean’s general’s pips and boots can be seen in the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum in Pyongyang  where you can also see a wonderful diorama of the battle of the Battle of Taejon.

 The KPA turned Height 1211 into a hill of heartbreak for the US imperialist aggressors.

                                   

                                             

   The KPA and Korean people fought in the revolutionary spirit of self- reliance based on the Juche Idea.The great revolutionary leader Marshal KIM IL SUNG stated“We must solve our problems no matter who is helping us and what help we get......Victory must be won by our strength” " It was their efforts that were primary in defeating the US imperialist aggressors"

   In the Fatherland Liberation War commanded by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG ,the reactionary bourgeois military theory was smashed by the Juche- orientated revolutionary military strategy and theory. Generalissimo Kim Il Sung continually stressed that the outcome of war is not determined by weapons or technology but by those who wield the weapons. The Fatherland Liberation War was a burning crucible of Songun. The victory of the Korean people led by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG shattered  revisionist and pacifist theories about peaceful co-existence and 'non-violence'

 The Korean People's Army commanded by the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG was a true people's army, an army of justice and liberation. It assisted  the people . A strong spirit of Army-People unity prevailed throughout  society. Summing up the significance of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. The great revolutionary leader Marshal  KIM IL SUNG said

"In this great struggle our people fought determinedly as one in mind under the correct leadership of the party and government and thereby withstood the harsh trials of war honourably and won a historic victory inflicting an ignominious defeat on US imperialism and its running dogs"

The great leader comrade KIM JONG IL said

 "It was a great revolutionary war of worldwide significance, a war in which our people defended their motherland and inflicted the first-ever defeat on US imperialism, the ringleader of world imperialism, by waging a national, heroic struggle."

 Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN said that the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War " was a military miracle unprecedented in the war history of mankind and a great feat of historical significance never seen before in the nation's history spanning 5 000 years."

     The Fatherland Liberation War ended in victory due to the Juche orientated military tactics, Juche-orientated military thought and Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader supreme commander generalissimo KIM IL SUNG and the sublime heroism of the KPA. The myth of US invincibility was smashed to smithereens in the Fatherland Liberation War.  The victory in the Fatherland Liberation War inspired national liberation and revolutionary movements all over the world to struggle against the colonial system of the US-led imperialists bringing about an era of decline for  US imperialism, an era of anti -imperialism . US imperialism's defeat in Korea preceded its defeat in Vietnam and elsewhere. The Korean people's victory in the Fatherland liberation war was a great contribution to the world revolutionary movement as it showed that US imperialism could be stopped in its tracks and beaten.   

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Has Photo Session with Participants in 7th National Conference of War Veterans

 

Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, met and had a photo session with the participants in the 7th National Conference of War Veterans on July 29.

The participants were overwhelmed by great excitement and joy as they came to have the highest honor and greatest happiness to be handed down from generation to generation after hearing the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un's congratulatory speech run through with his profound feelings of respect and trust at the national conference of war veterans held with splendor in his presence.

When the respected General Secretary arrived at the venue of the photo session, all the participants raised enthusiastic cheers as a token of their deep reverence for him who projects the war veterans as the models of the era of legendary heroes to be admired by the rising generations and makes sure that their heroic spirit is engraved in the history of the country with golden letters.

Saying that the great feats of the generation of the war victors, etched in the glorious history of the development of the DPRK, encourage the Korean people to wage a fresh heroic struggle, he stressed that it is the great pride of the WPK and the Korean people to have such revolutionary forerunners, the great paragons with a lofty outlook on the rising generations and the revolution.

He had a photo session with the war veterans, affirming his firm will to do his best to build a prosperous power looked forward to by the wartime heroes and provide the people with the happiest life in the world.

At the end of the photo session all the participants again broke into cheers of "hurrah!"

He warmly held the hands of war veterans earnestly following him, unwilling to part from him, and waved back to them for a long time as a token of his sincere wish for their good health. -0-

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Has Photo Session with Participants in First Workshop of KPA Commanders and Political Officers

 

Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, had a significant photo session with the participants in the first workshop of the commanders and political officers of the Korean People's Army at the office building of the Party Central Committee on July 27, the holiday of the great war victory.

The commanders and political commissars of the units, combined units and large combined units were full of deep emotion and delight of having a photo of honor taken with the respected General Secretary in the sacred courtyard of the Party Central Committee, the courtyard of the Supreme Command that they have kept dear in mind awake or asleep in the days of military service for defending the security of the country and the people.

When the respected General Secretary appeared, the military and political cadres raised stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" grateful for the strong feelings of affection and warmth shown by the great illustrious commander and the kind-hearted teacher, who organized the large workshop for the first time in the history of the army-building and energetically guided it and thus provided a significant milestone in the glorious development of the revolutionary armed forces and precious teachings for increasing the fighting efficiency and gave them great trust and love.

The General Secretary had a significant photo session with them, expressing expectation and belief that the military and political cadres, the core of the revolutionary armed forces of our Party, would skillfully apply the strategic and tactical plan and policies of the Party Central Committee and the best method and methodology of strengthening the units they grasped at the current workshop into the military and political activities and thus thoroughly keep the oath they made before the revolution and strengthen all units of the whole army into the invincible militant ranks boundlessly loyal to the cause of the WPK.

As the photo session was over, they broke into loud shouts for devotedly defending the Party Central Committee reflective of their firm readiness and will to live and struggle as reliable brave commanders and commissars loyal to our great Party and to devotedly defend the Supreme Staff of the Korean revolution as earnestly taught by the respected General Secretary.

They made a loyal oath to uphold the leadership of the General Secretary with all possible efforts and carry on the dynamic struggle toward a fresh victory of the revolution, cherishing in their minds the moment of honor when they left the immortal photo forming a manifold fortress around the great Comrade Kim Jong Un in the courtyard of the office building of the Party Central Committee, the courtyard of the Supreme Command where the red Party flags flutter. -0-

First Workshop of KPA Commanders and Political Officers Held Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Guides Workshop

 

Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- The first workshop of the commanders and political officers of the Korean People's Army (KPA) was held in Pyongyang, the capital of the revolution, from July 24 to 27 under the guidance of Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The Central Committee of the WPK and the Central Military Commission of the WPK organized a great meeting of military and political cadres of the whole army to further enhance the military and political strength and revolutionary fighting spirit of the KPA, the backbone of the national defence capacity and the revolutionary armed forces of our Party, and to awaken the military and political cadres again to the important military strategic and tactical idea of the Party Central Committee and also to the orientations and policies for the army-building as required by the changed situation.

The workshop, the first of its kind in the history of army-building, was focused on developing units, combined units and large combined units at all levels of the KPA into the politically and ideologically steel-strong army and invincible militant ranks faithfully upholding the leadership of the WPK, awakening and encouraging military and political cadres to fulfill their responsibilities and roles as the hard core in carrying out these honorable tasks, and comprehensively rearming them.

Attending the workshop were military commanders and political commissars of all the services, corps, divisions, brigades, regiments and members of the executive committee of the KPA Committee of the WPK and officials of the KPA General Political Bureau, the KPA General Staff and the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK.

 

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Makes Opening Address for Workshop and Guides First-day Sitting

 

The first workshop of commanders and political officers of the Korean People's Army, which will mark another remarkable milestone in strengthening and developing the Juche-based revolutionary armed forces, began on July 24.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted by the KPA commanding officers as he arrived at the April 25 House of Culture, the venue of the workshop, to guide it.

A military ceremony of respectfully receiving the Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the DPRK was held at the April 25 House of Culture.

Kim Jong Un received a salute from the chief of the honor guard of the KPA, amid the solemn playing of the national anthem of the DPRK.

The military and political cadres of units, combined units and large combined units warmly welcomed the General Secretary of the WPK and Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the DPRK who firmly defends the security of our state and people with his outstanding and seasoned leadership and dynamically leads them along the path of victory and glory, extending the highest respect with loyalty.

As the respected General Secretary appeared at the platform of the venue of the workshop with Pak Jong Chon, chief of the KPA General Staff, Kwon Yong Jin, director of the KPA General Political Bureau, Ri Yong Gil, minister of National Defence, and commanders of the KPA large combined units, the stormy cheers of "hurrah!" raised by all the participants burst forth.

Looking up to Kim Jong Un who proposed the grand workshop unprecedented in the history of army-building and came out to the venue of the workshop to guide it personally, the military and political cadres of the whole army were filled with great joy and excitement of seeing the Supreme Commander whom they yearned and admired awake or asleep at the posts on the defence line of the country.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made an opening address.

The General Secretary clarified the purpose of holding a grand meeting of military and political cadres of units, combined units and large combined units of the whole army as the first meeting of the KPA after the 8th Congress of the Party, saying that the first workshop of commanders and political officers of the KPA is held ahead of meaningful V-Day at a time when all the people across the country are waging an indefatigable struggle for a new victory of the revolution.

He stressed that the Party Central Committee gives special importance to strengthening all the services, corps, divisions, brigades and regiments of the KPA in overcoming severe difficulties lying ahead of our revolution and winning a new victory. He extended warm militant greetings to servicemen of the whole army, availing himself of the meaningful opportunity. He added that he has never forgotten the military and political cadres of units at all levels making devotion on the outpost lines for increasing the military capabilities and at sites of the grand campaigns for prosperity of the country and happiness of the people.

All the threats will be in vain and our revolutionary advance will be victorious if the divisions, brigades and regiments of the whole army are readied as one, he said, stressing that the commanders of the services, the commanders of corps, divisions, brigades and regiments and other commanding officers and political commissars of the KPA should make redoubled efforts than ever before. He analyzed in detail the operation commanding ability, the level of managing units and political and practical qualifications of military and political cadres.

He said that the military and political cadres of the KPA should seriously review their overall work in the units and find ways to overcome shortcomings and deviations while exchanging good experiences, well aware of the intention of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK that organized the workshop in a large scale.

He stressed the need for the commanding officers and political commissars at all levels to regard the workshop as the best precious occasion for acquiring a deeper understanding of the importance of strengthening services, corps, divisions, brigades and regiments and policy orientation and policies of the Party for army-building, for finding good methods for realizing them and for undergoing revolutionary self-cultivation and training and to make positive efforts to learn more and more.

Expressing belief that the workshop would serve as an important starting point for revolutionizing cadres i.e. for preparing all the military and political cadres of the whole army to be the genuine commanding officers of the revolutionary armed forces of the Party and as an occasion of making radical advance in strengthening in every way the operation and combat abilities and political and military might of the units, he declared the first workshop of commanders and political officers of the KPA open.

The respected General Secretary organized the grand workshop of the commanders and political commissars of services, corps, divisions, brigades and regiments of the whole army on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War in the important and crucial period of our revolution, the reporter said. He added that herein lies his noble intention to glorify generation after generation the immortal feats of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il in leading the army and prepare commanding officers, the hard-core members of the KPA, to be genuine military and political cadres of the Party's army possessed of high political consciousness, revolutionary style of work and noble moral traits.

Thanks to the feats the President and the Chairman, the founder and builder of the revolutionary army of the Party, performed in leading the army, our army could make proud development as the revolutionary army of the Party, he said, noting that the Party and the country highly praise the guard units and military and political commanding officers of the former generations that made brilliant military achievements and performed shining feats by faithfully upholding the leadership of the President and the Chairman.

Stressing that the immortal feats of the President and the Chairman in leading the army are shining more brightly under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, another ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and great leader of our Party, state and people, he noted that the KPA has been modernized at a remarkably high speed and has fully demonstrated a-match-for-a-hundred militant spirit and might at outpost lines of national defense and socialist construction in recent years under the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Un.

Analyzed in detail in the report were major shortcomings in the work of units at all levels and military and political cadres in the implementation of the military lines and policies of the Party and the causes behind them.

The reporter called on all the participants to strengthen the fighting efficiency of the units at all levels in every way, true to the decision made at the Eighth Congress of the Party and the policy tasks set forth at the major Party meetings, and to step up political, ideological, military and practical preparations for realizing them through the workshop.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Makes Important Conclusion at Second-Day Sitting of Workshop

 

Speeches continued at the second-day sitting of the workshop following the first-day sitting.

The second-day sitting was held amid the high ideological readiness and enthusiasm of the military and political cadres to review their work comprehensively before the Party Central Committee, arm themselves more thoroughly with the Party's military lines and policies and fulfill their heavy responsibilities and duties.

Commanders and political commissars of units and combined units who took the floor referred to the successes and experiences in preparing their respective units to be the first death-defying corps for defending the Party Central Committee that inherited the noble spirit of the heroic soldiers in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War, in making soldiers temper their iron fists as a-match-for-a-hundred soldiers, in getting themselves always fully prepared for decisive battles, in improving living conditions for soldiers and in waging grand construction campaigns.

Speeches roundly analyzed and criticized the shortcomings that were seen in military and political work such as combat and political training, unit command and management and education of soldiers.

The military and political cadres renewed their firm pledge to be genuine loyalists making strenuous efforts to fulfill the Party's orders and instructions and unconditionally upholding the leadership of the Party Central Committee by inheriting the tradition of loyalty and the indomitable fighting spirit left by the commanders of the war victor generation in the proud history of battles of their units.

There was an evaluation of exemplary units in increasing combat power, establishing military discipline and improving the living conditions for soldiers true to the Party's military policy.

All the military and political cadres who participated in the workshop greeted the most valuable and significant moment which they had been eagerly waiting for with ardent desire.

As the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un made his appearance at the speaker's table, the entire venue stirred with excited participants who were to receive the precious army-building theory and great programme from the great brilliant commander.

He made a vital concluding speech regarding the important revolutionary struggle tasks of the KPA at present in implementing the line and policy of the Party on army-building, and on the issues presented at the workshop.

In his concluding speech, he referred to the purpose of organizing the grand workshop for leading commanding officers of the whole army, the first of its kind in the history of army-building.

The first workshop of commanders and political officers of the KPA was organized to decisively raise the roles of commanders and political officers of units at all levels in accurately and thoroughly implementing the line and task of developing the revolutionary armed forces into a powerful elite army set forth at the historic 8th Party Congress, he said.

He said that commanders and political commissars of units and combined units are the core military and political cadres who form the backbone of our revolutionary armed forces, and are field commanders and political officers who lead their units in battles according to the operational plan of the Supreme Command. He added that preparing commanders and political officers well and rearming them steadily is a strategic policy consistently maintained by our Party in modernizing the army.

Noting that the workshop was organized on the occasion of the V-Day, he said that the tradition of the great victory in the war is what should be kept most dear and what should be brought into reality today, now that we face heaps of unprecedented challenges and difficulties and each one has to be surmounted by dint of strong will and firm decision.

He stated that succession of the revolution does not mean merely handing it down to posterity but a succession of the fighting spirit and the indomitable spirit full of vigor. And the great fighting spirit of the war victor generation is something that should be carried forward steadily with great efforts and that should never be left to get blurred or tarnished despite the passage of time, he stressed.

In the concluding speech, he laid down the general task for strengthening units, combined units and large combined units.

He formulated it as the general task facing the units of the KPA at all levels to turn them into invincible militant ranks that are boundlessly loyal to the cause of the WPK. He said that this meant turning them into a politico-ideological group which is absolutely loyal to and obeys the WPK's idea and leadership, and conducting all the operations and battles, unit management and military service of officers and servicemen according to the policy, way and intention of the Party.

He stressed that the KPA is the armed forces of the Party and therefore all the military and political activities should reflect the Party's will, strength and voice and should be aimed at realizing the Party's intention.

He clarified the principled issues and tasks to be maintained in thoroughly establishing the Party's monolithic command system in the KPA.

He gave important instructions to make every occasion and process in Party political work and military work a course of defending the Party's idea and authority and tightening the country's security at the units at all levels, and to completely establish the revolutionary military discipline of promptly receiving the orders and instructions of the Party Central Committee and devotedly carrying them out.

He stressed that commanders and political officers should focus all efforts on completing preparations for actively and offensively coping with any military provocation of enemies, and said this is the highest order given to the KPA by the Party and the revolution, nobody can take their place in implementing it and it is an urgent task which the commanding officers should be responsible for with their lives.

Saying that at present the hostile forces systematically keep bolstering up their capabilities for making a preemptive attack on the DPRK and increase armaments while intensifying all sorts of frantic and persistent war drills for aggression, he noted such situation has hardened the determination and fighting will of the KPA to eradicate the root cause of the evil cycle of escalating tensions.

He called for all the military and political cadres to put the greatest efforts into bolstering up the combat efficiency of their units, always mindful that the first criterion for assessing their loyalty to the Party and revolution and their practical ability and performance lies in how hard they try to perfect the preparations for correctly performing their wartime operation and combat missions.

In the concluding speech, he set forth the detailed tasks for the units at all levels to make their training more intensive by holding fast to the five-point policy for a revolution in the training and the specific methods for them to provide soldiers with better living conditions.

Referring to the need to further intensify the ideological education within the army, he said it is important to make sure that soldiers involved in socialist construction take pride and self-confidence in being the creators of the people's happiness, the sentinels responsible for preserving the people's trust in the Party and stones for building a fortress of the single-minded unity.

He underscored the need to conduct efficient education among soldiers to give full play to the good traditional traits of the army-civilian unity so that they can always respect and love the people like their parents and brothers and devote their lives to protecting the people's lives and properties.

In his concluding speech he specially stressed the need for the military and political cadres to enhance their qualifications, abilities, sense of responsibility and role.

He said that the military commanding officers and political commissars wanted by the Party are the ones modeled on the WPK who carry forward the tradition of boundless loyalty to the WPK, possessed of proficient work style and strenuous militant disposition peculiar to the WPK.

Noting that loyalty to the Party Central Committee constitutes the very lifeblood and criterion for the commanding officers of the KPA, the revolutionary army of the Party, he called on the commanders and political commissars of the units, combined units and large combined units to become the ones possessed of firm faith and obligations who share the idea, will and destiny with their Party forever and fight tooth and nail to defend the WPK and the revolution whatever the adversity. He added that they should also become the ones strong in ideology and the famous brave generals whose mere names strike horror into the hearts of the enemy.

He stressed that military and political cadres should implement, without an inch of deflection, all the military and political tasks set forth at the 8th Party Congress, the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and the enlarged meetings of the Party Central Military Commission, and take the lead in implementing them and powerfully mobilize the soldiers in doing so.

Saying that the Party spirit and political consciousness are the fundamental yardstick for determining the qualifications of the commanding personnel of the KPA, he specifically pointed out the issue of properly analyzing and addressing all the problems arising in military activities and Party political work in line with the Party policies, the issue of purposefully and consciously endeavoring to have a correct understanding of the Party ideas and policies and keep pace with the Party and the issue of honestly and voluntarily participating in the Party organizational and ideological life.

He also instructed them to possess high-degree practical abilities and strenuous militant stamina.

He said all the commanding officers should become enterprising military and political cadres and commanding personnel with strong grasping power, who strive to surpass the limits of their current levels and qualifications and make remarkable achievements with staunch courage, strenuous efforts, inexhaustible passion and fighting spirit after setting high goals.

He called on the miltiary and political cadres to cherish ambitious courage and disposition to make their units entrusted by the Party famous units known by the entire army and a-match-for-a-hundred militant ranks, plan and conduct all undertakings in a bold way and fully display the self-sacrificing spirit and sense of devoted service.

He also stressed that they should get firmly united in the same idea and purpose and in the bonds of kinship to achieve close cooperation between military commanders and political officers and work hard to prepare themselves as paragons of competent work style and noble morality befitting the commanding officers of the revolutionary army.

After stressing the importance of the position and duty of the General Political Bureau, General Staff and Ministry of National Defence in strengthening the entire army, he clarified the ways of unswervingly directing and subordinating the Party political work and military work to the thorough implementation of the militant tasks assigned by the Party Central Committee to the People's Army.

He underlined the need for all the units to bring about the fundamental improvement in the political and ideological preparation and mental and moral traits of the commanding personnel and soldiers and consolidate the fighting capacity of the units in every way by waging more dynamically the Movement for Winning the Title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment, the Three-revolution Red Flag Movement and other mass movements.

He said that the glorious victory tradition of our revolutionary armed forces could be successfully carried forward only by the resolute struggle and devotion of the commanding personnel of younger generation remaining boundlessly loyal to the Party's leadership, expressing the belief that all the military and political cadres would redouble their efforts to thoroughly establish the Party Central Committee's monolithic command system throughout the army and make radical progress in rounding off the war preparations and improving soldiers' living.

Finishing the concluding speech, he ardently called on everyone to unite firmly around the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, our guide, with one mind and wage a dynamic struggle for the security and eternal prosperity of our glorious country, for our great people, for the strengthening and developing of the People's Army and for a fresh victory in our revolution.

Courteously receiving the precious great programme given by him, all the participants kept in mind his every word with great admiration and excitement and had their hearts burning with boundless gratitude to him who clarified the ways for invincibility.

Intensive Training Course Given for Participants

 

At the third-day sitting of the workshop there was a training course to make the participants grasp the ways of thoroughly implementing the militant tasks set forth by the Party and developing the military and political work of the units onto one stage in the same noble fighting spirit and traits as was displayed by the commanding personnel of the guard units in the wartime.

The training course dealt with the issue of following the war victory generation's transparent spirit of devotedly defending the leader to make the units a crystallization of devotedly defending the Party Central Committee, the issue of making full preparations for fighting any type of war in the indomitable spirit of defending the country and the heroic fighting spirit displayed by the warriors of the People's Army during the Fatherland Liberation War and the issue of making the revolutionary fighting and living traits created by the war victory generation pervade all the units.

The speakers underscored the need for the military and political cadres of the whole army to firmly prepare themselves as those strong in ideology and faith, who know nobody but the Party Central Committee, the first bodyguards devotedly defending the Party Central Committee and resolute revolutionary fighters unconditionally implementing the orders and instructions of the Party Central Committee like the formerly commanding officers of the anti-Japanese guerrillas who remained boundlessly loyal to the leadership of President Kim Il Sung in the wartime.

They also underlined the need for the military and political cadres to steadily improve their operation-commanding ability to carry out their units' operation and militant tasks in any circumstances, intensify the combat training of the units, round off the preparations for regular mobilization of the personnel, weapons and combat and technical hardware and establish the strict military discipline.

The training course referred to the practical issues for applying the indomitable revolutionary spirit and the stubborn fighting traits created during the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War to the present military and political work and mentioned the experience of exemplary units.

Through the training course, the participants deeply grasped the ways and experience for training their units to be elite ones embodying the Party's military policy and having invincible fighting capability. They were also given the ideological and spiritual food for cultivating themselves and improving their work style and traits befitting the commanding officers of the revolutionary army of the Party.

Amid the great zeal of military and political cadres for making all the units of the entire army the invincible military ranks remaining boundlessly loyal and obedient to the leadership of the WPK, the first workshop of the commanders and political officers of the Korean People's Army closed on July 27 with the fourth-day sitting.

As the respected General Secretary appeared in the venue of the workshop, all the participants raised stormy cheers of "hurrah!" as a token of their absolute trust in him and great excitement.

The respected General Secretary made a closing address of the first workshop of the commanders and political officers of the KPA.

He said that the recent workshop in which all the military and political cadres had a proper and new understanding of the plan and intention of the Party Central Committee and their position and duty and found clear practical ways to bringing about a radical turn in increasing the fighting efficiency of their units served as a significant meeting which provided a new landmark in modernizing our army.

Saying that our military and political cadres should redouble their efforts to lead their units, as required by the Party and the revolution, he called upon the participants to strive to complete their units' combat readiness, always bearing in mind that officers and soldiers of the units place great expectations on the commanders and political officers who would come back after participating in the workshop held for the first time in the army-building history.

He repeatedly stressed that the commanders and political commissars should further strengthen politically and militarily their services, corps, divisions, brigades and regiments by thoroughly carrying out the fighting tasks set forth at the workshop with high goals and strong will to turn their units into a powerful fortress for defending the revolution and the country.

He called on the commanders and political commissars to bring about a radical improvement in the idea, spirit, working style, manner of work, practical ability and moral traits by enhancing their Party spirit and improving themselves, and to completely break with non-revolutionary and non-militant ideological viewpoint and working style.

Saying that no matter how severe the current trial is, there is no difficulty or fortress insurmountable or unconquerable, if commanders and political officers live and struggle with the indomitable revolutionary fighting spirit and will of the WPK, he expressed the firm will of our Party to vigorously carry forward the glorious traditions of victory by relying on the People's Army, the invincible revolutionary army of the Party, and the military and political cadres of the whole army.

Expressing conviction that all military and political cadres would bring about signal progress in increasing the fighting efficiency of their units by making devotion, bearing in mind the Party's important ideas on army-building and the tasks and ways emphasized at the workshop, he declared the closing of the first workshop of the commanders and political officers of the KPA.

Looking up with great emotion to Kim Jong Un, who gave them powerful and practical guidelines for strengthening the units and set forth clear orientation and ways for them to prepare themselves as experienced military and political activists, while energetically guiding the four-day-long workshop, the commanders and political commissars of the units, combined units and large combined units of the KPA took an oath of loyalty to devotedly implement the army-building plan of the great brilliant commander and his strategic intention.
