No War!
On August 4, women organizations including the Women Headquarters of South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, the Federation of the Korean Women’s Organizations and the National Women’s Solidarity called a news conference in front of the US embassy in Seoul to protest against US President Trump’s preposterous remarks that he would not hesitate to unleash a war in the Korean Peninsula.
They pointed an accusing finger at Trump’s ill-boding remarks that thousands of people would be killed in the Korean Peninsula not in the US mainland if a war breaks out and demanded his apology.
They charged that Trump’s remarks are that of a demented warmonger.
The additional deployment of THAAD and military tension to be created on the Korean Peninsula by south Korea-US joint military rehearsals to be conducted in the middle of August would not help for keeping peace, they stressed.
The US, the biggest nuclear power in the world, is steeped in hostile policy to the DPRK as the former has hurled huge amount of weapons and army into the Korean Peninsula for decades in a bid to put military pressure on and blamed the latter, they noted.
The women ardently wish the Korean Peninsula free from war provocation of the US and want to live peacefully without constant danger of war, global denuclearization and stop to military exercises in the Korean Peninsula are shortcut to preserve a durable peace, they said.
They would take active part in the campaign to keep the Korean Peninsula free from danger of war, they pointed out.
The Solidarity for Democracy, People's Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty held a rally on August 5 to criticize Trump’s absurd remarks.
It demanded withdrawal of hostile policy to the DPRK, conclusion of peace pact between the DPRK and US and halt to deployment of THAAD.
