DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hits U.S. Vice-President's Reckless Action

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on Saturday over the fact that the vice-president of the U.S. requested several countries in Latin America to sever diplomatic relations with the DPRK:

Recently, the vice-president of the U.S., during his junket to Chile, requested Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Peru to sever diplomatic relations with the DPRK.

This was not the first time for the U.S. to urge the countries which have friendly and cooperative relations with the DPRK to sever the diplomatic and economic relations with it.

The U.S. is exerting pressure on many countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe to break off all relations with the DPRK.

This high-handed measure only reveals the rabid selfishness and arrogance of the U.S. that intends to sacrifice the entire globe for its own interests, and shows that its hostile policy toward the DPRK has reached extremes.

The U.S. pressure to sever the relations constitutes outrageous interference in the internal affairs of independent sovereign states and an open challenge to international law and order that invite condemnation and rejection.

If the U.S. malicious campaign of sanctions and pressure against the DPRK is ignored and permitted, all other countries are bound to fall victim to its interference in their internal affairs.

The DPRK will continue to further strengthen and develop the friendly and cooperative relations with countries around the world on the principles of independence, peace and friendship.

No matter who may say what, the DPRK remains committed to its righteous and responsible efforts to frustrate the unjust and illegal sanctions and pressure campaign, defend the country's dignity and strategic status and realize genuine international justice. -0-
