Always among the People

The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea and founder of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, always regarded the people as the god and led the Korean revolution along the road of victory by relying on their strength.

Believing in the People as in Heaven

Comrade Kim Il Sung regarded it as his lifelong motto to believe in the people as in heaven.

In his reminiscences "With the Century", he wrote: "To believe in the people as in heaven" has been my constant view and motto. The principle of Juche, which calls for drawing on the strength of the masses who are the masters of the revolution and construction, is my political creed. This has been the axiom that has led me to devote my whole life to the people.

When the agrarian reform was being enforced in the DPRK after liberation, a religionist living in Ryonggang County was branded as a landlord for he got some land and an orchard and all his property was confiscated and he was even forced to move to other place.

Informed of it, Comrade Kim Il Sung said with anger that some officials interpreted the Agrarian Reform Law of their own accord and implemented it wrongly, and saw that his land and orchard were given back.

All the villagers as well as the religionist and his family said with excitement that General Kim Il Sung is the god of Korea taking care of all people.

Told about it, Comrade Kim Il Sung said it is the people that should be regarded as the real god and it is not an empty word but the devotion he kept in the course of his revolutionary struggle.

And he continued: I, who believe in the people as in heaven, also have commandments to observe. They are firstly, to respect and serve the people as the god, secondly to devote all to the people and thirdly to do all things by relying on the strength of the people.

For Comrade Kim Il Sung who always kept the people deep in his mind, the people were his god, teachers and the whole of his life.

Go among the People!

  Go among the people!

This was a maxim representing the revolutionary mode of Comrade Kim Il Sung for putting into practice his motto of believing in the people as in heaven and a valuable political creed running through his life.

Comrade Kim Il Sung kept as his faith the revolutionary principle that the masses of the people are the masters of the revolution and construction and they have the strength to promote them, always found himself among the people and solved all problems according to their demands and in their interests by mobilizing their inexhaustible strength and creative wisdom, lecturer Kim Sol Hui at the Korean Revolution Museum said and continued:

"The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung started his revolutionary activities by going among the people, led the revolution by mixing with the people and reviewed his great life by going among the people.

He said that one finds philosophy, literature and political economy among the people. He told officials to call on the people when they were hungry or thirsty and when misfortune befell them. He didn't mind rugged roads to visit the people."

Comrade Kim Il Sung found himself among the people all his life; shared intention and feelings with the people and led the revolution by relying on them.

He always mixed with the people to acquaint himself with their demands and aspirations.

After considering the urgent demand of the era and revolution among the people, he put forward the original and profound lines and policies including the basic line of socialist economic construction and the policy of agricultural cooperativization after the war.

When he was apart from the people even a moment, he felt empty as if he lost something valuable, and when he met the people, he regarded the moment as the happiest one in the world.

For the People and by Relying on Them

Comrade Kim Il Sung devoted his all only to the people and wrought miracles by relying on their inexhaustible strength.

One day in December 1992, he gave important instructions that the officials should become genuine servants of the people and said: Up to date since I embarked on the road of the revolution I have regarded the masses of the people as the god, served them and made revolution by relying on their strength throughout my life.

With the most correct viewpoint on the people that one can emerge victorious in the revolution only when one relies on the masses of the people, Comrade Kim Il Sung fought against the Japanese imperialists to liberate the country and resolutely defeated the US-led imperialist aggressor forces to win a great victory in the war on July 27, 1953. He carried out the historic task of socialist industrialization only in 14 years' time and laid a firm foundation for independent national economy.

In the days of his revolutionary leadership spanning tens of years, he could lead the Korean revolution to victory without any mistake in line or any minor deviation in leadership, which is based on his precious motto.

The people-centred socialism of Korean style, where the people are masters of everything and everything serves them, is a valuable fruition provided by Comrade Kim Il Sung who sowed the seed on the soil that is people and cultivated it all his life.
