Dear Comrades and friends,
The Victory Day of the Fatherland Liberation War is a moment of profound remembrance and unwavering solidarity. We stand united to condemn the unjust invasion of the DPRK by U.S. imperialist forces in 1950 and to honour the indomitable spirit of the Korean people who secured a historic triumph against overwhelming odds.
On June 25, 1950, the U.S. imperialists, abusing the name of the United Nations, launched a war of aggression against the young Republic. They boasted arrogantly that the DPRK would be brought to collapse within a mere 72 hours. Yet, they gravely misjudged the mettle of the Korean people. The U.S. imperialists committed a third of their ground force, a fifth of their air force, and most of their Pacific Fleet, alongside troops from fifteen satellite states, to crush the nation. They planned to expand the flames of war to Manchuria—a blueprint for world domination. But the Korean People's Army and the heroic citizenry rose as one. Under the legendary leadership of President KIM IL SUNG, they turned their 72-hour boast into a 27,000-hour nightmare of defeat. After three years of fierce combat, on July 27, 1953, the aggressors were forced to sign a surrender document on the very land where they had ignited the war.
This victory was not merely a military achievement—it was a monumental event in world history. The Korean people shattered the myth of U.S. imperialist "invincibility" and dealt a deadly blow to their strategy for global dominance. The Fatherland Liberation War demonstrated that even a small nation, fighting for justice and sovereignty, can defeat the most formidable imperialist forces. The World Federation of Trade Unions rightly declared that the Korean struggle showed an example of tenacity that inspired anti-imperialist resistance across the globe. Comrade Marshal KIM JONG UN has rightly called July 27 a miracle—a great victory that inflicted an everlasting shame and defeat upon U.S. imperialism.
Today, we declare with absolute confidence that such a war will never happen again. The tragic suffering of the 1950s will not be repeated. Thanks to the steadfast military development of the Republic, it now possess a reliable and effective war deterrent. The nuclear forces serve as the core of the military sovereignty and the centerpiece of self-defense strategy. As Comrade Marshal KIM JONG UN has emphasized, the DPRK has advanced along the path of a nuclear-armed state, overcoming all oppression and challenges to secure absolute power capable of preventing and deterring war itself. The military capabilities—from the nuclear arsenal to the recently commissioned Choe Hyon Destroyer—stand as an unbreachable shield. The imperialists know well that any new adventure on the Korean Peninsula would invite a catastrophic response.
The victory of the Fatherland Liberation War is etched forever in the proud Korean history—a triumph of extraordinary military wisdom, unyielding faith, and the heroic spirit of the people. We honor the martyrs who gave their lives to defend its dignity and sovereignty. And we move forward with certainty, knowing the glorious DPRK, armed with powerful deterrence, will forever stand invincible.
