New Mural Tomb Unearthed

A new mural tomb dating back to the Koryo dynasty (a feudal state that existed from 918 to 1392) has been unearthed in the DPRK. The mural portrays two warriors along with rolling peaks, rocky cliffs, trees, brook and other surroundings. According to local media, this is the first time that a mural realistically depicting the natural scenery of a relevant area is discovered.

The person buried in the tomb is believed to be a military officer in the first half of the 11th century and the inscription gives some detailed accounts of Koryo’s political, economic, cultural and military affairs between the late 10th century and the first half of the 11th century.
