Pyongyang, October 28 (KCNA) -- A livestock farming base has been successfully built in the Sepho area of the DPRK, under the Workers' Party of Korea's grand plan for harnessing nature.
It is the nation's leading large-scale livestock farming base which will be greatly conducive to the country's prosperity and the improvement of the people's livelihood.
Servicepersons and members of the Construction Shock Brigade 922 turned the barren land in Sepho area, abandoned for thousands of years, into a socialist land in less than five years.
Tens of thousands of hectares of grassland were created and shelter belts, forests for protection of grassland, grazing roads, drainage canals and reservoirs formed in vast area including Sepho, Phyonggang and Ichon counties. After all, a modern and scientific livestock big farming base has taken its shape with such structures as thousands of dwelling houses, public buildings and animal sheds which a integrated production system and a veterinary and anti-epizootic system were established, veterinary and anti-epizootic facilities and livestock production processing bases and thus, material and technical foundations have been provided to smoothly carry out the Party's policy of livestock farming.
An inaugural ceremony of the livestock farming base took place on Friday.
Present there were Premier Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK and vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, Pak Thae Dok, vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, Ko In Ho, vice-premier and minister of Agriculture, Pak Jong Nam, chairman of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials of ministries, national institutions and local party and power organs, servicepersons and shock brigade members who took part in the construction, and working people in Kangwon Province.
Pak Pong Ju said at the ceremony that the conversion of Sepho area into a big livestock farming base which will be greatly helpful to the improvement of the people's standard of living is another great auspicious event in the era of the WPK in which a long-cherished desire of the Korean people to enjoy a rich and happy life comes true.
He stressed the need to set in a proper way the goal and plan for keeping the production at the livestock farming base on a high level and normal basis so that the Party's love and benevolence can be reached to the people in actuality.
At the end of the ceremony the participants toured various parts of the base after being briefed on it. -0-
