Eighty years have passed since the historic event of agrarian reform in which our Party converted land, which had been used as the means of exploitation by the ruling class for thousands of years, into the genuine wealth of the people and the basis of their new life full of hope.
No other party in the world but the great Workers’ Party of Korea provided the farmers, who had only been objects of contempt and plunder for ages, with genuine life and realized their interests in the most thoroughgoing way.
Only the WPK effected a great transformation unprecedented in history supported and admired by the farmers as the first step to democratic reform.
In due consideration of the centuries-old desire of farmers who held a majority of our country’s population, President Kim Il Sung put the agrarian reform before any other democratic reforms to be carried out in the liberated country.
Under the great benevolence of the President, our farmers were freed from the fetters of slavery and became honorable and dignified masters of the country.
Since then, people in our country have defended and cultivated the land as its masters.
Our people devoted blood and life to defending an inch of land, performed miracles in the postwar rehabilitation and achieved victories in socialist cooperativization of land.
The history of transformation of land which began with the agrarian reform has continued so far as that of greater victories and glory.
Our people still keep in their minds boundless gratitude toward Chairman Kim Jong Il who looked far ahead into the country’s future when the country was undergoing the harshest trials and decided on and led to victory the great transformation of nature for renovating the land across the country to meet the needs of socialism.
Keenly realizing the pains taken by the Chairman for the future of the country, our agricultural workers grew once again into those strong in self-reliance and pioneers of the future possessed of genuine outlook on life and revolution of living not for today but for tomorrow.
The socialist land which was cultivated by the great pains and efforts of the President and the Chairman is now further turned into home of genuine life where the people’s dreams and ideals come into full bloom under the outstanding leadership of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
At the historic ４th Plenary Meeting of the ８th Central Committee of the WPK, the respected General Secretary declared a grand plan for putting the country’s agriculture on a definite upward stage and opening up a new great era of effecting drastic development of our style socialist countryside under the uplifted slogan of "For new victory of socialist rural construction!".
Thanks to his leadership, agricultural workers across the country are training themselves to be solid farmers and intelligent workers.
They are full of liveliness, enjoying a happy life in the modern dwelling houses provided by the Party free of charge and bringing earlier a better future.
Slogans like "Let us defend socialism with grains!" and "Let us go to communism!" which can be seen anywhere in the socialist countryside reflect the agricultural workers’ high zeal for glorifying their life as patriotic farmers sharing their destiny with our Party for ever.
Indeed, no other land in the world has a greater history than ours and gets young and vibrant as ours does.
The historic Ninth WPK Congress clarified the tasks and ways for further speeding up the regional development, the rural construction during the period of new five-year plan to transform the regions and countryside in a fresh way and bring about greater improvement in the material and cultured life of the people across the country.
As our country’s future is prosperous, so the future of our agricultural workers following the leadership of the Party is bright and rosy.
