The Workers Party of Korea (WPK) , the supreme general staff of the Korean revolution , held its 9th Congress from the 19th of February to the 25th of February in the April 25th House of Culture in Pyongyang the revolutionary capital city of People’s Korea. The importance of the Congress of the WPK cannot be overstated . The WPK is the general staff of the Korean revolution and organiser and guide of the work of socialist construction . At the congress policies and guidelines for the next five years are worked out and a new leadership is elected .
These days when other countries faced difficulties as well as intervention by the imperialists and many former socialist countries have disappeared all eyes are on the DPRK and WPK which are upholding socialism under difficult conditions . The successful holding of the 9th Congress of the WPK in the unstable international climate and in which the imperialists are running wild to topple socialism was a great achievement in itself.
The Congress was attended by 5,000 delegates and 2,000 observers making it a very large scale political event in fact a massive political event especially when compared to ruling parties and even bigger than the Congresses of other ruling parties for example the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2022 had 2,300 delegates and the last Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) had 4,000 delegates .
The Congress re-elected respected comrade KIM JONG UN as General Secretary of the WPK and elected a new Central leadership which included comrade Kim Yo Jong who was promoted the position of department director and alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Party .
The unanimous re-election of respected comrade KIM JONG UN was not only a manifestation of the deep support and trust of the members of the Workers Party of Korea (WPK) for respected Marshal KIM JONG UN and his brilliant leadership abilities but it serves as a powerful demonstration of the DPRK's powerful single -hearted unity , the like of which is not seen anywhere else in the world.
In his opening speech respected comrade KIM JONG UN said “Five years ago we convened the Eighth Congress of the Party with the conviction, will and determination to break through the worst difficulties facing the revolution by our own efforts and usher in a new era of advance and development without fail, but today we are here at its Ninth Congress, filled with optimism and confidence in the future.”
The 9th Congress reviewed the achievements of the past five years since the 8th Congress of the WPK in January 2021. Under the difficult conditions of intense sanctions by the imperialists , the global health crisis and repeated natural disasters as well as an increasingly unstable international situation , the DPRK made significant achievements such as the building of 50,000 new homes in Pyongyang and 110,000 new homes in the rural areas . The 20 x10 Regional Development policy has been rolled out . Additionally many health , cultural and leisure facilities have been created Self-reliance has been increased on a scientific and planned basis.
As pointed out by the Korean Central News Agency " The expanded policies for the people clearly show the advantages of the socialist system in our country, which attaches importance to the popular and people-oriented ones, and prove the truth and vitality of our Party's people-first politics."
Great success was made in the work of enhancing the national defence capacity of the DPRK including the integration of the state nuclear policy of the DPRK into the Constitution of the DPRK meaning that the DPRK;s nuclear status is completely irreversible which is a powerful deterrent to war and which safeguards the independence of the DPRK and the socialist system . As stated in the report of the Congress "The DPRK's nuclear force is now fulfilling its mission of physically and strongly deterring any war of aggression in a responsible manner.".
The past five years have also seen the expansion of the DPRK's international relations with many successes been registered in that field.
Looking forward to the next five years respected comrade KIM JONG UN called for the Party to " to consistently adhere to the principle of resolving all problems by dint of ideology and the spiritual strength of the masses and wage a more vigorous struggle against all sorts of negative phenomena going against the people-first principle."
During the new five years the 20 x 10 regional development policy will be continued . Also efforts to improve healthcare will be improved. Marshal KIM JONG UN said that “It is necessary to rapidly introduce the successes gained in the healthcare revolution started in 2025 to the whole public health sector to make the people practically enjoy the benefits of the socialist public health and put the foundation of the country's public health on a higher level”
100 new hospitals will be built in the DPRK in the next five years.
The WPK will adhere to its tried and tested line of prioritising ideological work . Indeed in his concluding speech respected comrade KIM JONG UN strongly emphasised the line of the three revolutions -ideological , cultural and technical -saying that "These three revolutions are our Party’s general line in building socialism." . The three revolutions including the ideological revolution will be stepped up during the forthcoming period. Thus there is no change in the basic line of the WPK for building socialism . There is no backsliding.
The DPRK's nuclear force will also be strengthened during the coming five year period .Moreover the plans for building up the deterrent capabilities of the DPRK will include “ the ICBM complexes of ground and underwater launching, which are more strengthened by integrating the accumulated technologies, various AI unmanned attack complexes, special assets for attacking the enemy's satellite in emergency, very powerful electronic warfare weapons systems to paralyze the enemy's command center, and more evolved reconnaissance satellites”
At the same time the conventional forces of the DPRK will be strengthened.
The Congress also reaffirmed that the DPRK will continue the class struggle against the enemie of socialism , comrade KIM JONG UN said that “Judicial and prosecution, public security and state security organs should remain faithful to their missions as weapons of class struggle to protect the security of the state, political stability of society and the lives and property of the people by law and thus firmly guarantee the consolidation and development of the state and social system”
The 9th Congress also discussed the international situation . Respected comrade KIM JONG UN noted that " The world realizes though belatedly that as long as imperialism exists, international law and order are nothing but meaningless empty commitments and that the just advocacy of law and order alone can defend nothing.
It is the truth proved by the present world and the law-governed principle in the international arena dominated by the gangster-like logic of jungle law that strength respects strength and to arm oneself with such powerful force as nuclear weapons is the only means capable of putting an end to the imperialist ambition for aggression."
Moreover comrade KIM JONG UN said that "Whether it is peaceful coexistence or eternal confrontation, we are prepared for everything, and that choice is not made by us.
We have long prepared ourselves to deal with the hostile entity, the U.S., and will, in the future, too, more courageously and intensively carry out what we have done so far to better prepare for all forms of challenges that can be inferred."
It was reaffirmed that the ROK is the no 1 hostile state . Comrade KIM JONG UN pointed out that "The possibility of the ROK's complete collapse in the extension of the action cannot be ruled out."
Respected comrade KIM JONG UN also slammed the deceptive tactics of the present liberal regime in the ROK pointing out that “The appeasement attitude taken by the present ruling regime of the ROK outwardly is a clumsy deceptive farce and a poor work.
The ROK's ultimate ambition is to turn the whole Korean peninsula into the one under the capitalist reactionary system of "liberal democracy". While outwardly advocating deceptive "reconciliation" and "peace", it is seeking to disarm the DPRK under the signboard of the "denuclearization of the Korean peninsula". It is an anachronistic practice, which must not be continued any longer, to keep dealing with the ROK for the utterly impossible reconciliation and "reunification", being captive to the habit of regarding it, a dangerous being, as the same "nation”.
I think the above correctly sums up and analyses the ambitions of the ROK puppets.
All in all the 9th Congress created a blueprint for the DPRK’s comprehensive development in all fields ; economy , living standards, culture , defence and international relations.
To conclude the 9th Congress of the Workers Party of Korea laid down a militant and dynamic fighting programme which will led the DPRK into the next decade which will see the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the WPK . Under the programme adopted at the 9th Congress of the WPK ,the DPRK will advance towards new heights of the Juche revolution and towards the bright future of communism.
We congratulate the WPK on the successful holding of the 9th Congress of the WPK and support the programme that has been set out at the Congress.
