It is 70 years since the historic work of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG "On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche In Ideological Work " was published on the 28th of December 1955.
This is seen as a seminal work of President KIM IL SUNG and one that broke new ground . It was the first time that the word Juche was used in the external media of the DPRK .In fact Juche goes back to the historic Kalun meeting of June 1930 and the speech ‘ The Path of the Korean Revolution’

The work "On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche In Ideological Work " answered the need of the times for the establishment of Juche and clearing away of dogmatic and formalistic attitudes that were hindering the advance of the Korean revolution. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea was blazing a new trail in the construction of socialism .Moreover t was there the reconstruction of the country following the devastation of the war but also industrialisation , the co-operativisation of agriculture and socialist transformation of industry and trade which became the order of the day ..Many new questions arose which could not be answered by ready made formulas or textbooks. Moreover there was a need to carry out socialist construction firmly based on the realities of Korea.
Moreover establishing Juche was essential as Korea was sandwiched between great powers and menaced by the US imperialists. In the past Korea had lost independence due to the idea of relying on and fawning
to big powers (this is known as flunkeyism)
On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche In Ideological Work broke new ground and startled the world with its perception and clarity. It cut through the outdated pattern of dogmatism and formalism led a sharp knife .It gave a brilliantly succinct explanation of what Juche means
"What is Juche in our Party’s ideological work? What are we doing? We are not engaged in any other country’s revolution, but solely in the Korean revolution. This, the Korean revolution, determines the essence of Juche in the ideological work of our Party. Therefore, all ideological work must be subordinated to the interests of the Korean revolution.”
The publication of the work "On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche In Ideological Work " was a powerful declaration that Korea would be independent and self-reliant. Korea would never read the faces of others . President KIM IL SUNG was later to write that “"In 1955, therefore, our Party set forth the definite policy of establishing Juche, and has been persistently urging an energetic ideological struggle to carry it through ever since. The year 1955 marked a turning point in our Party's consistent struggle against dogmatism. It was also at that time, in fact, that we started our struggle against modern revisionism that had emerged within the socialist camp. Our struggle against dogmatism was thus linked up with the struggle against modern revisionism".
The establishment of Juche led to a great new turn in the work of the Korean revolution . Independence was established in all field , the DPRK became a state known for independence , self-sufficiency and self defence . In the field of the economy the DPRK pursued the line of the independent national economy .The DPRK refused to bow to the big power chauvinists and join the CMEA or Comecon . The DPRK pursued a independent foreign policy. Thanks to Juche, Korea was built up to become a mighty socialist power with Juche in ideology , independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence.
Visiting People’s Korea 20 times I witnessed the massive progress in socialist construction achieved by the application of Juche .
