Seventy-five years have passed since the United Nations designated December 10 as Human Rights Day and appealed for prevention of human rights violations across the world. However, the world now witnesses violation of rights to life and development of human beings, and never-ending crimes against human rights such as racial discrimination, xenophobia and human trafficking.
The Western forces are to blame for all this as they have reduced “human rights” to political plaything and a pair of scales weighing others for the purpose of realizing their geo-political superiority and global hegemony, a far deviation from the sacred intrinsic purpose of human rights and contradiction to the current trend of modern civilization.
Turning a blind eye to their own human rights situation where grave violations of human rights like poverty, unemployment, murder and discrimination are being systematically perpetrated, the West are abusing “human rights” as a tool for naming and blaming those countries of their dislike and for interfering in their internal affairs. What’s worse, they are overthrowing legitimate governments of developing countries, resulting in such human rights catastrophe as refugee crisis.
What unmistakably lurks behind all the distrust, discord, confrontation and separation in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and many other parts of the world is the crooked hands of the U.S. and the West.
That such countries arbitrarily judge and slander human rights situation in other sovereign states with its own yardstick is indeed an insult to the sacred notion of human rights.
Such behaviour of the U.S. and the West of abusing the universal concept of human rights and international human rights norms for the sake of their sinister geopolitical purposes is now working as a harmful element running counter to the aspirations and efforts of the international society for the protection and promotion of genuine human rights.
