International Day of Older Persons Marked



















 Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- The aged in the DPRK, being respected as forerunners of the revolution and elders under the Korean-style socialist system centered on the popular masses, greeted the International Day of Older Persons.


Art performances were given and sports games held for the old persons across the country. Public catering and leisure facilities delighted them with unique services.


O Su Yong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and Jin Kum Song, minister of Labor, enjoyed a performance given by the Central Art Squad for Increased Production at the Ponghwa Art Theatre, together with war veterans, persons of merits and other old persons in Pyongyang Municipality.


Officials of the Party and power organs in the municipality visited the care home for the aged to learn about the life and health of old persons and presented them with souvenirs.


The autumn sports games of aged persons took place at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium.


Okryu Restaurant, Chongryu Restaurant and other public catering establishments in the municipality were full of old persons receiving special service.


Elderly people in parts of the country spent their pleasant time through diverse cultural activities. -0-
