Enlarged Meeting of Organizing Committee of International Festival

Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- An enlarged meeting of the Organizing Committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu took place in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

Present there were Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and co-chairwoman of the organizing committee, Pak Kyong Il, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and secretary general of the organizing committee, and officials concerned.

Attending it were the co-chairpersons of the Organizing Committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu including Peter Woods, co-chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea, and Damian Ogbonna, chairperson of the African Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People, and delegates from foreign organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people.

At the meeting, the work of the organizing committee and friendship and solidarity organizations in various countries after the inauguration of the organizing committee was reviewed, experience exchanged and the orientation of future activities informed.

It said that preparatory work would be stepped up to arrange with splendor the 6th International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu in Pyongyang and the area of Mt Paektu in 2022, the year marking the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il and the 10th anniversary of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un's assumption of the top posts of the party and the state of the DPRK.

It noted that activities for proactively accelerating the historic trend of peace and stability created in the Korean peninsula and the region thanks to the outstanding diplomacy and energetic leadership of HE Kim Jong Un will be conducted worldwide in diverse manner and methods.

It called for strongly demanding the earlier lift of all sorts of sanctions upon the DPRK, materially and morally supporting the struggle of the Korean people for building a powerful socialist nation, promoting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea by realizing a smooth unified coordination of the activities of solidarity with the Korean people and thus tangibly contributing to ensuring peace and security in the region and the world. -0-
