Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected a major munitions industrial enterprise on June 6 to acquaint himself with the main weapons production in the first half of 2026.
Accompanying him were Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Sik, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, Jang Chang Ha, general director of the Missile Administration, Pak Jong Chon, advisor to the Ministry of National Defence, Kim Kang Il, vice-minister of National Defence and director of the General Armaments Bureau, Kim Yong Hwan, president of the Academy of Defence Sciences, and leading officials of the Missile Administration.
Comrade Kim Jong Un highly praised the enterprise for fulfilling its first half-yearly plan for the main weapons production ahead of schedule and putting spurs to the preparations for the production in the second half of the year.
That day, he heard a report on the Missile Administration's long-term plan for expanding the capacity to produce various ballistic missiles and cruise missiles and gave an instruction to submit it to the Second Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK for deliberation.
It is necessary to boost the existing production capacity 2.5 times within the Five-Year Plan period on an annual growth basis in order to supply enough quantity of missiles the demand for which will drastically increase as our armed forces' operational group formation and combat organization are to be modified, he said, stressing that it is a core task of very important significance.
Underlining the need for the enterprise to establish the strict regulations and order for quality control and thoroughly observe the requirements of the inspection process so as to further improve the quality of products, he gave a series of instructions for its production and management. -
