Having joined the Workers Party of Korea on the 22nd of July 1961 , the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL began working at the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea on the 19th of June 1964 , having declined offers to work in other roles .
Whilst working at the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea(WPK) comrade KIM JONG IL worked hard , day and night , to implement the principle of ideology -first and built the Workers Party of Korea up as a powerful ,united , steel strong party of Juche . In the heady days of the 1960s this was not an easy task because of the complex international situation around the Korean peninsula . Modern revisionism and Left opportunism had appeared in the international communist movement and the socialist camp causing splits and divisions . Anti-party counter-revolutionary factionalists tried to smuggle revisionism into the WPK but true Korean revolutionaries led by President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL fought back and the anti-party revisionists were defeated at the 15th Plenary Meeting of the Fourth Party Central Committee which was held from May 4 to 8, 1967. It was at this plenary meeting that the monolithic ideological system of Juche was established . Comrade KIM JONG IL explained that “The Party's monolithic ideological system is, in other words, the leader's ideological system and system of guidance. In our Party there can only be the leader 's revolutionary idea and guidance. Without them the existence of our Party is inconceivable. The revolutionary idea of the great leader is the eternal guiding ideology of our Party and revolution. Thanks to the wise guidance of the leader our people could not only victoriously fight their way across tens of thousands of ri in the bloody war against the Japanese imperialists, and defeat the US imperialist aggressors, in the three-year-long Fatherland Liberation War, but also succeed in the postwar reconstruction and socialist revolution and achieve miraculous successes in the building of socialism, to the admiration of the people throughout the world.
We must improve the education on Party policy, the revolutionary traditions and socialist patriotism of Party members and the working people. The main emphasis in the education need s to be on the establishment of the Party' s monolithic ideological system”
By establishing the monolithic ideological system comrade KIM JONG IL dealt a massive blow against revisionism and the restoration of capitalism in the DPRK . Later comrade KIM JONG IL put forward the idea of modelling the whole of society on Kimilsungism.This concept was announced in February 1974 in the work “ "On Some Immediate Tasks of Party Ideological Work for Modelling the Whole Society on Kimilsungism". This brought about a great upsurge in carrying on the revolution and the WPK's ideological work. This led to a great upsurge in socialist construction in all sectors. Powerful mass movements such as the Three Revolution Red Flag Movement were launched.
Comrade KIM JONG IL stressed in a work titled “On Firmly Consolidating the Party’s Organizational and Ideological Foundations “ which was published on the 15th of August 1969 that the mass foundation of the WPK should be developed and the political foundation of the Party should be consolidated .In the DPRK an integral , harmonious whole of the party and the masses was formed.
Thanks to the guidance to Party work given by comrade KIM JONG IL over many decades , the WPK was transformed into the steel strong party of Juche which defended and advanced socialism .Today under the guidance of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the leadership of the WPK over socialist construction continues as socialism in the DPRK enters the stage of comprehensive development.
