February 16 is the birthday of the great leader Kim Jong Il.
The Korean people greet the February holiday with ardent longing and boundless reverence for him. They warmly look back upon his life of infinite love and devoted service for the people.
Kim Jong Il continuously made devoted efforts, always regarding the demands and interests of the people as the first of his all thoughts and practice.
He always thought of how to provide the people with better things and how to make them better-off.
He visited every place of the country, racking his brains for the people's happiness even early in the morning and late at night.
Wherever we go, we can see the shops, factories, and classrooms loud with children's reading he visited.
Saleswoman Kim Kwang Hui at the Janggyong Shop of the Sosong District General Food Store said her shop was associated with the love of Kim Jong Il who devoted his all to the people, and continued:
"The great leader Kim Jong Il visited our shop on May 20, 1961.
He said the seasoned dry fish is a side dish liked by our people, and went on:
The shops should process and sell various kinds of side dishes like seasoned dry fish. Then the working housewives will like them very much. The side dishes sold at the shops should be made tasty. Only then, people will buy them a lot.
That day he personally tasted the bean paste supplied to the residents. He said it tasted good, but its colour was not nice, adding that if peppered bean paste, spiced soy sauce and the like were sold, people would like them.
Noting that the shop assistants were doing a very important and honourable work of taking care of the people's living with responsibility, he emphasized that they should improve service for the people with a sense of honour in their job."
Kim Jong Il found his great pleasure and pride in the people's happiness, thought and worked uninterruptedly for the people and provided them with the best things, sparing nothing for them.
Under the unselfish loving care of the great father, lots of structures were built on this land, in which the people could enjoy all blessings generation after generation.
Kim Jong Il continued to call on the people even on holidays and red-letter days no matter how far away they might be.
He called at the house of an ex-soldier and his wife in Taehongdan before their parents and, beaming all over his face, complied with her request for naming their baby to be born. He also dropped in at small houses on a solitary island and in a mountain valley without ceremony to learn about the inhabitants' living.
He travelled over 669,844 kilometres equivalent to nearly 17 rounds of the earth for the people.
Indeed, his life will be immortal along with the word of people.
