The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has many monumental structures named after youth.
They are associated with the noble sweat and efforts of the Korean young people.
It is proved well by the Youth Hero Motorway completed in 2000.
In 1998 when the country was undergoing trials and difficulties unprecedented in history, the great leader Kim Jong Il entrusted the huge motorway project to the young people.
And he took measures to supply materials and equipment needed for the construction and solve all the problems arising in the life of the young people on a preferential basis.
In October 1999 when the construction was at its height, he said to officials as follows: Now our young people are building monumental structures like the Pyongyang-Nampho motorway though everything was insufficient and difficult. They are really good. Nothing should be spared for them. I am thinking where to build a monument to the young people. Our people will support my idea.
The Korean young people finished the construction of over 40 kilometre-long motorway in less than two years.
They built a lot of other monumental structures in all parts of the country.
All their successes were attributable to the great trust and love of Kim Jong Il.
Kim Jong Il said our young people are reliable successors to the revolution and set forth the slogan "Love the youth!" so that the climate of prioritizing young people pervades the whole country.
And he handed the torch of the revolution over to the young people on October 10, 1995, wishing them to carry forward the revolutionary cause of Juche to completion through generations.
Holding high the torch of the revolution given by him, the Korean young people could glorify their youth in the work places wanted by the Workers' Party of Korea.
