Recently, the European Union (EU) has adopted what is called a “Temporary Protection Directive” related to the Ukrainian refugee issue, and it is widely publicizing it while blowing its own trumpet that it is a “historic decision”.
It is said that the core of this measure is to allow the Ukrainian refugees to move freely within the EU and to immediately grant them with the right of residence, the right to labor and other rights to social welfare including public health and education.
At issue, however, is the fact that the EU countries are discriminating against the refugees resulted from the Ukrainian situation on the basis of race.
Many media of the world including German radio “Deutsche Welle” and Namibian newspaper “The Namibian” gave full coverage in their refugee-related news that the African people have become sidelined in getting reception and treatment as refugees due to the racial discrimination.
Spanish newspaper “Europa Press”, “El Periódico” and many other media are seeing that EU’s “lenient attitude” towards the refugees from Ukraine would not apply to the refugees from the African and Middle Eastern region who have different races and religions, and that its repugnant policy of discrimination against them would continue in the future, too.
Visual materials and testimonies showing such discrimination acts by Europe are in wide circulation on the internet, as well.
In connection with this, the African Union issued a statement to express its indignation that the unfair treatment of the Africans is completely racial discrimination and a violation of the international law.
Most of the governments in African countries including Nigeria and Kenya are also scathingly denouncing the acts of racial discrimination by the EU countries, saying that they should equally treat all the people and groups, regardless of their race, religion and nationality, all the people leaving the areas in dispute are entitled to equal safe movement under the UN Convention, and that they should not be discriminated on the grounds of passports and colors.
The above facts show that “safeguarding human rights” chanted so much by the West is nothing more than hypocrisy.
