What the visit of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN to Mt Paektu shows-special article by Dr Dermot Hudson

           

         

 For revolutionaries, the blizzards of Paektu are a warm wind which sharpens the edge of their revolutionary faith and assures them that they can achieve miracles and victory, whereas for renegades of the revolution and traitors, they are a biting blast which deals them a crushing blow. Those who have appreciated the “feel” 
of the blizzards of Paektu become revolutionaries, and those who have not, renegades. In retrospect, those who were unwilling to climb Mt Paektu and gave in for fear of the blizzards of Paektu, degenerated into renegades and traitors. When renegades and traitors appeared and challenged it in the past grim days, our Party punished them without mercy by dint of the blizzards of Paektu.

KIM JONG UN 

 On the 16th of October respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  ascended Mt Paektu on a proud looking  white horse , he was accompanied by officials of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea . Mt Paektu is the sacred mountain of the Korean revolution where the anti-Japanese revolutionary guerrillas commanded by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG had their based , it is also the birthplace of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL and it is the ancestral mountain of Korea .Mt Paektu. Mt Paektu is  2750 metres above sea level , the weather of the mountain is said to be very changeable . I was extremely privileged to visit Mt Paektu in August 2017.
                         

   Some of us have the older books from the DPRK published in the 1960s which show a splendid picture of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG on Mt Paektu . The picture is a profoundly revolutionary image . Later eternal Chairman KIM JONG IL and President KIM IL SUNG visited Mt Paektu together , the picture showed that Chairman KIM JONG IL would resolute continue the revolutionary leadership of President KIM IL SUNG as Chairman KIM JONG IL was later to declare "Expect No Change from Me !"
                                    

  Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has visited and climbed up to the top of Mt Paektu several times since becoming supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea . The world media say that when respected Marshal KIM JONG UN visits Mt Paektu it is a portent of great changes and heralds policy changes etc. Some believe that the ascent of Mt Paektu signifies that the period of engagement with the US which started in the spring of 2018 will finally come to an end . Well the imperialist media scribblers and keyboard jockeys can speculate as much as they want and make as many guesses as they please but what the visit and ascent of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN to Mt Paektu really shows is that is firstly , respected Marshal KIM JONG UN will carry forward the Juche revolutionary cause that was started on Mt Paektu , secondly , he will remain true to the great ideas of President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL , thirdly , Marshal KIM JONG UN will lead the Korean people to defy the sanctions of the imperialists and march forward in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. Mt Paektu is a very high mountain and not easy to ascend. Even on a bus it takes a long time and you have to walk the last part of the way up a steep path . To ascend Mt Paektu by horse would be particularly arduous and difficult even dangerous . When respected Marshal KIM JONG UN ascended Mt Paektu by horse snow was already on Mt Paektu  It is a feat that takes great courage and fortitude . Ascending Mt Paektu in difficult conditions  is symbolic of the path of the Korean revolution, which is a difficult and arduous path with many obstacles caused by the imperialists and other enemies .Moreover it symbolic of the will and intention of the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN to lead the Korean people to victory despite the sanctions and pressure of the imperialists as well as the big power chauvinists.. Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has iron-willed determination to lead the DPRK to victory with no turning back or hesitation.

  Earlier when looking at the construction of the new Samjiyon town  respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was reported by KCNA as saying that    " the pain the U.S.-led anti-DPRK hostile forces inflicted upon the Korean people has now turned into anger ...whenever the enemies try to strangle us with the chain of pressure, we should pave the way with our own efforts to continue to live well-off in the great spirit of self-reliance so that the enemies feel pain in their stomach and head...we should neither want help from anyone nor lend an ear to any temptation... we should choose the prosperity based on our own efforts only as the immutable road of development and keep holding higher the banner of self-reliance as we do now.'
   This is a militant declaration by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN , it is a great statement of defiance as well a vow to push ahead with the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance which is the treasured sword of prosperity of People's Korea .
  The imperialists , hostile forces and enemies of Juche Korea had hoped because of the DPRK-US summits plus the 3 inter-Korean summits and DPRK-China summits  that the DPRK would abandon the revolutionary road of Juche and adopt 'reform' and 'opening up' but by visiting Mt Paektu and ascending it on horseback despite difficult conditions respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has demonstrated to the world that the DPRK will continue along the great independent , Juche-orientated road of self-reliance !
