Expression of Dangerous Military Attempt Detrimental to Peace and Stability in AP Region

 2022.6.8.

The U.S. is becoming more reckless in its attempt to seek military hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region.

The largest-ever joint military drill codenamed “RIMPAC-2022” is going to be conducted in the waters off Hawaii with the participation of the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Japan, south Korea and etc, from the end of June to the beginning of August after the first visit to Asia by the U.S. president.

It is said that about 40 warships, more than 170 fighters, over 25,000 military forces from 20-odd countries are going to take part in this drill. The U.S. Marine Corps is also planning to include in it a drone ship squadron newly organized in May.

What is worthy of special notice is the U.S. scheme to involve Taiwan in “RIMPAC” joint military drill.

As already known, the U.S. Congress adopted “2021 The National Defense Authorization Act” which has the content of inviting Taiwan to “RIMPAC” joint military drill in July 2020 followed by “2022 The National Defense Authorization Act” with the same content adopted in last December.

The U.S. is habitually saying that the purpose of conducting “RIMPAC” joint military drill is to guarantee the freedom of navigation, legal order and other principles of ensuring security in the Indo-Pacific region.

With regard to this drill, the British newspaper “Financial Times” said that a joint military drill is one of the motive forces to maintain supremacy of the U.S. and “RIMPAC” joint military drill is the U.S. military means to contain China. It also commented that the U.S. desperate bid to drag Taiwan into the above-mentioned drill is aimed mainly at indicating that the U.S. and its allies are committed to defending Taiwan if it is attacked.

A Chinese military expert asserted as follows: “RIMPAC” joint military drill conducted against a background of deteriorating Sino-U.S. relations actually constitutes a military drill supposing China to be the enemy. The U.S. is feeling that its military strength is insufficient to contain China all alone though it is superior to other countries in its military power. Hence the U.S. is inciting its allies and partners to confront China.

This assertion is well-grounded.

This is because Esper, the U.S. defense secretary emphasized that how to confront China in the Indo-Pacific region is the main role of the U.S. troops, and the U.S. troops, if necessary, can fight and beat China anytime, anywhere.

It is too obvious that joint military drill conducted by the U.S. is aimed at containing China.

The U.S. is in its bid to stage the “Pitch Black” joint aerial military drill from the mid-August to the mid-September in Australia with Australia, Germany, France, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, south Korea, etc. This only adds seriousness to the situation.

The south Korean authorities are shouldering the responsibility of playing the role of a “shock brigade” in the implementation of the Indo-Pacific strategy, actively following the U.S. by mobilizing in this drill six “KF-16” fighters, one “KC-330” refueling plane and about 130 military forces for the first time in history.

The U.S. is planning to drag more countries into war drills aimed at deterring China by military force. As a result, not only the Sino-U.S. relations but also the situation in the Asia-Pacific region are spiraling to the state of war.

The above facts exemplify once again that as long as there exists the U.S. imperialism which regards aggression and war as a mode of survival, peace and security can never be guaranteed on this planet and that the only correct way to safeguard the rights to existence and development of the State is to bolster up its own strength.

The reckless war drill conducted by the U.S. aggravating confrontation and disputes in the Asia-Pacific region is also exerting bad influence over the Korean peninsula.

In recent days alone, the U.S. is scaling up the joint military drill on the Korean peninsula. It has reaffirmed that it will provide south Korea with extended deterrence mobilizing all defense capabilities. By doing so, it is openly revealing its attempt to put military pressure on us.

The U.S. regards hostility against us as its national law. It finds fault with the exercise of the righteous and legitimate rights to self-defense, labeling it as a so-called “threat”. This is gangster-like logic that can get it nowhere.

As the U.S. clings to reckless war drills, it will result in creating a tragic consequence of bringing earlier its self-destruction
