Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- The 11th Plenary Meeting of the 14th Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) took place at the Mansudae Assembly Hall on Nov. 4.
Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and president of the SPA Presidium, presided over the meeting.
It was attended by Thae Hyong Chol and Pak Yong Il, vice-presidents of the SPA Presidium, Ko Kil Son, secretary general of the SPA Presidium, and members of the SPA Presidium.
Brought up for discussion at the meeting were agendas "On Adopting Tobacco-Prohibition Law of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and "On Revising and Supplementing the Law on Enterprises of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea".
The gist of the two agendas, discussed at the Legislation Committee of the SPA, was introduced.
The tobacco-prohibition law with 31 provisions stipulates the rules which all the institutions, organizations and citizens must follow in protecting the lives and health of the people and providing more cultured and hygienic living environments by tightening the legal and social controls on the production and sale of cigarettes and on smoking as required by the state tobacco-prohibition policy.
The law specifies places and units in which smoking is forbidden, such as places for political and ideological education, public places including theaters and cinemas, and the institutions for nursing and upbringing children, education ones, medical and public health facilities, commercial and public catering ones, public transport means. It also indicates penalties for violating smoking rules and others.
The revision and supplements to the enterprise law newly stipulate contents of making enterprises labor-, energy-, cost-, and land-saving ones and of making the employees patriotic working people who regard the spirit of economy as part of their mental qualities.
The enterprise law refers to issues which all the units must observe when organizing new enterprises or when their affiliations change. It also stipulates that the production and business management must be done under the unified guidance and strategic control of the state and on socialist principles.
The meeting deeply considered those agendas and had an exchange of views on them.
Decrees of the SPA Presidium "On Adopting Tobacco-Prohibition Law of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and "On Revising and Supplementing the Law on Enterprises of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" were adopted with unanimous approval at the plenary meeting. -0-
