DPRK Democracy is superior people-centred democracy .

Critics of People’s Korea like to talk about ‘democracy ‘ and claim that People’s Korea  is ‘undemocratic ‘ whilst praising Western countries , even asserting that they are ‘ meritocracy ‘.

Let’s look at the facts shall we ? . The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has a single chamber Supreme People’s Assembly elected by universal , direct , suffrage . All citizens over the age of 17 have the right to elect and to be elected.

What of the countries that  held up as ‘model democracies ‘  ? Well the US president is not actually elected by universal , direct , suffrage but  the weird electoral college system which allows for all kinds of jiggery pokery . It basically means the winner of a US presidential election is not necessarily the person who wins the most votes . Is that really democracy ?

Now the UK does not have the electoral college system . However , it does have an unelected second chamber , the House of Lords .  The House of Lords is made up of hereditary peers and those that have been appointed by the Prime Minister . Hardly democratic . Imagine the scandal , the hue and cry , if the DPRK had an unelected second chamber  ? You would never hear the end of it  !

In many capitalist countries suffrage is limited by residential and property qualifications which may exclude poorer people from voting . In the UK homeless people cannot vote because they do not have a postal address . In parts of the USA black people were excluded from voting .

It is a fact that in the parliaments of most capitalist countries there are either no workers or ver few . The UK lost its last representative of working class origin in December 2019.

The DPRK is a people's democracy , a socialist democracy . In People's Korea , deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly, the highest organ of power are honorable servants of the people . Ordinary workers are deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly. There is no need to compete for a place in parliamentary easy street but rather a matter of the people choosing the best people for the job , people they will have confidence in

The moral of this is that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones . Those criticising People’s Korea need to realise that like charity , democracy begins at home .

Thanks to the Juche idea , the DPRK has a most advanced , superior people-centred democracy .
