22nd Anniversary of the Appointment of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as supreme commander of the KPA-paper presented to ASSPUK and JISGE Meeting 7th of December

On the 24th of December this year the Korean people together with the world progressive people and Juche Idea and Songun idea followers will celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the appointment of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army. On the 24th of December 1991 the 19th plenary meeting of the 6th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea decided to appoint great generalissimo Kim Jong Il as the supreme commander of the Korean People's Army. President Kim Il Sung deemed it necessary to transfer the command of the KPA to comrade Kim Jong Il in order to carry the Songun revolution forward ,guaranteeing succession in the revolutionary cause and victory in the showdown with US imperialism the sworn enemy of the Korean people and world people.

When the great generalissimo Kim Jong Il was appointed as supreme commander of the KPA the international political situation was very strained and complicated. The anti-socialist campaign started by the imperialists and modern revisionists , after the frustration of socialism in the USSR , caused a very difficult situation . The US imperialists spearheaded an intense anti-socialist ,anti DPRK campaign campaign as the DPRK was(and is) a bulwark of socialism.

The Korean People's Army, founded by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung ,is the reliable defender of socialist Korea. Moreover as the DPRK is on the front line of the struggle against imperialism , the KPA is the defender of world socialism and the anti-imperialist forces of the world so assuming the post of supreme commander of the KPA meant that the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il assumed the responsibility for the defence of world socialism and world peace.

The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il ensured that the priceless achievements made by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung made in the field of army-building were continued and actively carried forward. As supreme commander the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il built up the KPA as the army of the leader with a steel-like unity based on the Juche idea and the Songun idea .This was complemented by the blossoming of the great army-people unity under Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. This is unknown elsewhere in the world.

The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il is the brilliant commander of Songun, the general of Mt Paektu. Beginning his Songun revolutionary leadership on the 25th of August 1960 at the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards no 105 division of the KPA . As result of tireless guidance to the KPA he accumulated great experience and commanding arts becoming a pre-eminent general and ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander.

Great generalissimo Kim Jong Il paid scrupulous attention to ideological work in the armed forces. Speaking to officers of the 855th unit of the KPA on October 18th 1964 he said

“Education against revisionism also must be conducted properly....Modern revisionists

are aligning themselves with the imperialists because they are afraid if another war breaks

out in our country “

In 1968 the DPRK captured the US spy ship 'USS Pueblo ' . The US imperialists threatened all-out war but the great leader President Kim Il Sung warned that the DPRK would match their retaliation. Comrade Kim Jong Il said that those countries who told the DPRK to quietly hand the ship and crew back should be ignored as this would mean a concession to US imperialism.

In the years following his appointment as KPA supreme commander in 1991 the great Leader comrade Kim Jong Il administered Songun politics fully by building up the KPA as the core force of the Korean revolution . He ensured that the KPA was not only strong in arms but strong in ideology and politics. Opposing the modern revisionists attempts to 'de politicise ' and ' de ideologise' the army he ensured that the army held fast to the line of being the revolutionary armed force of the Workers' Party of Korea. He kept to the line of maintaining the revolutionary traditions of the KPA forged by the great leader Generalissimo Kim Il Sung in the anti-Japanese armed struggle and and the Fatherland Liberation War . He also built the KPA army as the army of the great leader President Kim Il Sung. Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il fully promoted the revolutionary soldier spirit, the epitome of the militant Songun ideology, which pulsated throughout society leading to world-startling feats like the construction of the Anbyon power station.

The DPRK faced acute threats from US imperialism and all kinds of international reactionary forces Supreme Commander comrade Kim Jong Il has, by his brilliant commanding art, defeated all these attempts to stifle Korean style socialism by force,honourably defending Juche Korea, the bastion of socialism . As dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un wrote in his work “"Let Us Add Eternal Brilliance to Comrade Kim Jong Il's Great Idea and Achievements of the Songun Revolution”

“The Juche-oriented socialism is a precious gain of our revolution Comrade Kim Il Sung achieved devoting his life, and it is our people's lifeblood and the cradle of their true life and happiness. The 90s of the last century, when the reckless anti-DPRK moves of the allied forces of the US and other imperialists to check the victorious advance of our revolution and stamp out our socialism went to extremes, was a period of the severest ordeals for our revolution. When our army and people were at the crossroads whether they would remain an independent people and guards to become victors or be reduced to the imperialists' colonial slaves again, Comrade Kim Jong Il determinedly held up the banner of Songun, and defended the Juche-oriented socialism with honour and achieved brilliant victories. This was a miracle of history which only our General could bring about.”

The KPA and Korean people under the leadership of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il faced down the US imperialists when they clamoured over the nuclear issue. The DPRK threw a nuclear thunderbolt of Songun at the imperialists by successfully testing a nuclear device. The KPA smashed the provocations of the south Korean puppets and US imperialists at Yongphyong island in November 2010 thereby defending world peace and socialism. Thus the 20 years of leader's Kim Jong Il's command of the Korean People's Army were years of great achievements in which the KPA has been strengthened greatly not just militarily but politically and ideologically . Because of the decisive role of the anti-imperialist military front there have been victories in other fields such as the economy and culture The Songun revolutionary cause of army leadership is now been continued by dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un supreme commander of the KPA. The KPA will be totally victorious under the command of dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, another great general of Mt Paektu.
