A True Son of the People

The great leader chairman KIM JONG IL

Throughout the 7 decades of his life  the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il  had been a true son of the people and devoted to their interests.
Comrade Kim Jong Il has always led a most humble life and shared weal and woe with the masses For example as a university student in the late 1950s he personally took part in the construction of Pyongyang working hard building a road. During the last decades of his life he was always dressed in an old parka .

On the spot guidance means simply more than just visiting somewhere and looking around. It fully embodies the mass line of the Workers Party of Korea and the famous Chongsan ri method and Chongsan Ri spirit. This had been pioneered by the great leader President Kim Il Sung in the 1960s.
Its essence was for the leadership going down to the grass roots, grasping the situation and offering help and assistance, it is very different to the bureaucratic method of simply sitting in an office reading reports. Indeed it is one of the main reasons for the durability of Comrade Kim Jong Il firmly believed in the maxim of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung which was “the people are my god “. Comrade Kim Jong Il believed in making flowers bloom on a rock if it was necessary for the people
From early 1995 when the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il administered Songun politics(army-first policy) on a fulI scale to late 2011 when he passed away he gave on-site guidance at over 3 808 units covering 353 576 kilometres, in the course of which he often crossed rugged Chol Pass and Mt. Osong, sometimes braving howling snowstorms and pushing the car with his shoulder, and visited Cho Islet across the rough sea and front-line posts including Panmumjon on the Military Demarcation Line which is a stone's throw from the US imperialists .
Kim Jong Il did not merely defend the country but he opened a new era of national prosperity. While providing his Songun-based leadership he visited rural areas to unfold a far-reaching plan of realigning the farmland across the country into large-size, standardized plots as befits the land of a socialist state .Under his leadership iron and steel works introduced a new, perfect steel-making system using no coking coal and scrap iron and chemical industry bases brought about a radical turn in the development of the national economy by mass-producing fertilizers and vinalon (which is a fibre produced from limestone) . He visited both the famous Chollima Steel Complex which back in 1956 had been the birthplace of the Chollima movement (a collective innovation movement of Korean workers) and the February 8th Vinalon Complex.

Meanwhile modern light-industry bases of great significance in the improvement of the people's standard of living spruced up in various parts of the DPRK and an ostrich farm, a sturgeon farm and world-ranking fruit farms were built for the first time in Korea.
Comrade Kim Jong Il worked very hard often going without sleep . His doctors advised him to stop working but he carried on. Although he passed away the Korean people today are able to enjoy the fruits of his work and the legacy that he bequeathed . Visiting the DPRK twice in 2012 I saw the new flats at Changjon street which had been given to ordinary working people free of charge and the Rungna People's Pleasure Park both of which were associated with the on-the spot guidance of leader comrade Kim Jong Il. New factories ,industrial complexes power stations and even a port have been constructed. Today's rising prosperity of the DPRK is the fruit of  the on-the spot guidance of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il and the legacy that he has bequeathed.
Respected Marshal Kim Jong Un said of leader Kim Jong Il
The epochal changes effected in our country and the proud realities unfolded in the prospering Songun Korea are all valuable fruits born of his ennobling patriotism. His burning love for his socialist country and people and his self-sacrificing devotion to the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people originated from his absolute trust in his people and unbreakable confidence in the justness of the socialist system and the victory of the socialist cause. There can be no love and devotion separated from trust and confidence. It is only from unshakable trust and confidence that genuine and warm love and unstinting devotion are produced. Saying that there is no people in the world better than ours, he always placed absolute trust in them. And saying, "Let's see who laughs last," he had firm confidence in the victorious future of the country.
