Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- The Second Meeting of the Ninth Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea was held on August 29.
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, guided the meeting.
Present at the meeting were members of the WPK Central Military Commission.
The meeting heard the appraisal of the recent political and military activities of the Korean People's Army Committee of the WPK and the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK and discussed a series of structural reorganization plans for the improvement and development of the future overall defence affairs.
The meeting discussed the organizational matter.
The Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee approved by-election of Pak Jong Chon, advisor to the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK, as a member of the WPK Central Committee and a member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, Yu Kwang U, director of the Security Bureau of the Korean People's Army, as a member of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, and Om Ju Ho, political commissar of the KPA Air Force, as a member of the WPK Central Committee.
The WPK Central Military Commission decided as follows after deliberating the change of position of the military commanding officers for key posts and receiving ratification of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee:
Pak Jong Chon, advisor to the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK, was by-elected as vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.
No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, was dismissed and recalled from the Party central leadership and appointed as first vice-director of the Munitions Industry Department of the WPK Central Committee.
Kim Song Gi, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, was appointed as minister of National Defence of the DPRK.
Yu Kwang U, director of the Security Bureau of the Korean People's Army, was appointed as first vice-director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, and Om Ju Ho, political commissar of the KPA Air Force, as director of the Security Bureau of the KPA.
The WPK Central Military Commission expressed expectation and conviction that the major commanding officers starting their work in the new posts would firmly arm themselves with the Party's idea of building a strong army and responsibly fulfill their role through boundless devotion and extraordinarily high activity in implementing the Party's military lines and policies. -0-
