An inaugural ceremony of the energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace and oxygen plant of 15,000 cubic metres per hour set up at Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex was held on the spot on December 20.
Present there was Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Also on hand were O Su Yong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, officials and employees of Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Chongjin Metal Construction Complex and the Equipment Assembly Complex, officials of the commissions, ministries, national agencies and the North Hamgyong Provincial Party Committee who contributed to the construction, members of the February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians, scientists, technicians and researchers.
O Su Yong conveyed a message of thanks of the Central Committee of the WPK to the workers, technicians and officials who performed distinguished feats in building a new Juche iron production process at Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.
Premier Kim Tok Hun made an inaugural address.
Upon authorization of the Party Central Committee and the DPRK government, he extended warm congratulations and paid respects to the entire builders, scientists and technicians including the workers of Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex who rendered great services to developing the metallurgical industry of the country.
He said:
The energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace built at the great base of the metallurgical industry in the northern part of the country is a precious creation of the idea of the WPK on self-respect and self-support and a crystallization of ardent loyalty and patriotic devotion of the Korean workers, scientists and technicians who have kept the Party's idea on Juche iron as their faith.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw that bold, development-oriented and realistic goals for shoring up the metallurgical industry were set and put forward tasks to build more oxygen-blast furnaces of new type and boost the production capacity on the basis of the experience of Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex that built an oxygen-blast furnace of Korean style and is normalizing the iron and steel production.
The inauguration of the energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace and oxygen plant of 15,000 cubic metres per hour proves once again that infinite is the strength of the people building an independent economic giant by supporting the leadership of the Party Central Committee with one mind and purpose and there is no fortress we cannot conquer, the speaker stressed.
Premier Kim Tok Hun ardently called on all to wage a more vigorous struggle to hit the goal of steel production under the five-year plan in high spirit of having implemented the Party decision with success.

After the ceremony, the participants looked round the new Juche iron production process.
