It was with a sense of great joy and expectation that the Staffordshire Branch of the Korean Friendship Association welcomes the positive outcome of the North-South Summit Meeting held in Panmunjom on April 27th, 2018. The summit and the Declaration resulting from the high-level talks have created the conditions for the peaceful, independent reunification of Korea and have contributed to peace in North-East Asia and Internationally.
The summit meeting agreed that bringing an end to the Armistice Agreement and replacing it with a Peace Treaty was an urgent necessity. During the summit, the Leaders of North and South Korea reaffirmed the drive to denuclearize the entire Korean peninsula and establish confident building measures between the two sides. The Panmunjom Declaration has laid the foundations for lasting peace on the Korean peninsula and for realizing Korean reunification. The role of Chairman Kim Jong Un in producing the climate for reconciliation and reunification on the Korean peninsula has been immense and the actions of the DPRK Leader has strengthened World Peace.
Staffordshire KFA calls upon the British Government to lift the sanctions against the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea and to cease all hostile activity towards the DPRK. The Staffordshire KFA Branch urges all peace-loving and progressive people to show their support for the Korean reunification process and display their solidarity with the just cause of the Korean people.
