Military Parade Held with Splendor in Commemoration of Ninth WPK Congress

Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- In the watershed where a new era of building a powerful and prosperous nation is being ushered in on the road of the Juche revolution, the heroic Korean People's Army celebrating the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea as the great one of victory and glory has proudly stood on the starting line of the revolutionary journey, in which new grandeur and prosperity are in store, with absolute trust and confidence in the goal of new victory set by our Party.

The invincible revolutionary army of the WPK, which assumed the great mission and heavy duty that no other army in the world can carry out, has fulfilled its role and made boundless devotion for the state and people in the forefront of the struggle for pioneering and transformation which has faced harsh trials and challenges every year, translating all the plans, decisions, desires and ideals of the WPK into a proud reality. The Party takes great pride in the army as it represents the Party's strong courage, sacred dignity and inexhaustible might.

As trust and expectations of the Party and the people grow stronger, our army makes more dynamic march of loyalty and exploits under the uplifted glorious colors bearing the emblem of the WPK. A grand military parade, symbolic of such spirit and nature of our army, shook the square of victory and advance.

A military parade took place with splendour at Kim Il Sung Square on the night of February 25 to commemorate the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The square's night was as bright as day with many light decorations. The most powerful elite army was going to launch its dynamic march to signal the new-stage struggle for transformation, aimed at the advance of the socialist cause, with great excitement and joy of invariably holding in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the outstanding leader of the Juche revolution and symbol of all victories and glory, as the general secretary of the WPK.

Attending the parade were 50 foot columns, including the ones of the honorary cavalrymen, different services and arms, and specialist units of the armed forces of the DPRK, and aircraft columns.

Members of the orchestra of the State Merited Chorus in charge of playing music for the parade took their seats.

From the sky over the square, reliable paratroopers glided down with high-profile collective parachuting skills, letting off fireworks and flying the national flag and the flag of the Party beaming with light decorations.

The combined military band, consisting of the Central Military Band of the Ministry of National Defence, the military bands of the combined units at all levels of the Korean People's Army and the women's brass band of the Ministry of Public Security, gave a ceremonial performance with dynamic music and rhythmic movements showing the specific characters of the services and the might of the powerful army.

Then the columns of the military parade full of high spirit entered the square with the pride and honor of the revolutionary armed forces which reliably defended the Ninth Congress of the WPK politically and militarily.

The dignified prestige of our army, which has always defended the state and the people firmly and implemented the Party's ideas and intentions with loyalty, was reflected on the faces of the soldiers, the elites representing the armed forces of the Republic, and in their weapons.

The colors of the combined units of the KPA at all levels entered the square with due ceremony, displaying the dignity of our revolutionary armed forces.

The colors of honor, associated with the proud feats and traces of loyalty of the powerful revolutionary army which glorified its sacred appellation and wrote the legendary history of heroes on the forefront of defending sovereignty, safeguarding the people and conducting a great campaign for creation to add luster to the flag of the WPK, formed in line.

When Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, arrived at the square of the parade, stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" shook the earth and sky and colorful fireworks were displayed in the night sky of the capital city.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was courteously greeted by the commanding officers of the Ministry of National Defence, the services and large combined units of the KPA.

When Kim Jong Un took the tribune of the square together with commanding officers of the KPA, enthusiastic cheers swept the square again.

Kim Jong Un waved to the columns of the military parade and spectators.

Kim Jong Un received fragrant bouquets from members of the Korean Children's Union.

Taking the tribune were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and other senior Party and government officials, chief secretaries of provincial committees of the WPK, senior officials of ministries and national agencies and heads of the congratulatory groups of Koreans in Japan and the General Association of Koreans in China.

Seen on seats for invited guests were the participants in the Ninth Congress of the WPK, persons of merits and labor innovators.

Veteran cadres who had worked for a long time at the Party, government and military posts were invited to the tribune as special guests for the commemorations of the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

Seen in the auditorium were officers and men of the KPA, members of the youth shock brigade, officials and working people in the city and students of revolutionary schools.

There was a ceremony of hoisting the national flag of the DPRK.

The soldiers escorting the national flag solemnly marched toward the flagstaff, receiving salute from the colors of the combined units of the KPA at all levels.

The sacred national flag was hoisted amid the solemn playing of the DPRK national anthem.

A 21-gun salute was boomed in commemoration of the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The booming sound of the guns touched the heartstrings of the participants making them recollect the five-year course that they have covered with lightning speed from the Eighth Congress to the Ninth Congress of the WPK and have confidence in the new journey to be followed.

Kim Jong Un made a meaningful speech.

Expressing his impression of greeting the glorious moment of facing the start of the sacred struggle to be continued again at Kim Il Sung Square where we made a start full of determination to blaze a trail five years ago, Kim Jong Un said that the record of such a noble, patriotic and sacred struggle as etching in the annals of history really valuable records by devoting the precious things for this moment of today can be created only by the Korean people and army that are the most righteous, tenacious and resourceful in the world.

The present military parade will fully demonstrate the soaring spirit and revolutionary enthusiasm of our people and service personnel for pioneering another new great path full of dignity in having proudly reviewed the very arduous struggle, he said, expressing warm thanks to all the Party organizations and members, working class, other working people in all sectors and the young vanguard who have vigorously embarked on the road of struggle towards the new long-term objectives with the honorable recollection and soaring self-confidence.

This square, as a witness to the victorious history of our Party and every stride of our army, is hosting a military parade of our army to mark the first of the significant ceremonies in honor of the Ninth Congress of the WPK, he said, adding that the route of military parade represents the invaluable position the times and the revolution have presented to the armed forces of our Republic and it means the one of advance they should follow steadfastly with loyalty and feats in the lead of the revolution.

Kim Jong Un stressed that the People's Army should continue to play the main role in good faith in our great times befitting the faithful revolutionary armed forces of our Party, hardcore of the defense capabilities of the state, pioneers of dramatic transformation and artists of the people's happiness, and referred to the duty of our armed forces which no one else could perform for them.

Noting that all the people across the country will march bravely along the road to be pioneered by the steel-strong units of our army and all its service personnel, and the time of Korea will advance non-stop towards high aims, he ardently called for launching a vigorous struggle for the new era opened up by the Ninth Party Congress for the dignity and prosperity of our great state and for the invincibility of the socialist cause.

All the officers and soldiers of the parade units chanted in unison slogans of loyalty reflecting their solemn pledge to powerfully lead the new historic advance of the WPK in the spirit and mettle displayed in ushering in a heyday of great changes of our state.

Then there was a review of the preparations for the military parade.

No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, reviewed the columns of the parade units.

He courteously reported to Kim Jong Un on the completion of the preparations for the military parade for commemorating the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The columns of the armed forces of the DPRK started their grand march.

The column of honorary cavalrymen marched past the square first, representing the steel-strong will of the service personnel of the People's Army to glorify the advance of loyalty for implementing the decision of the Party Congress with brilliant military feats and great achievements.

It was followed by the columns of the lifeguards units standing in the vanguard of defending the Party Central Committee headed by the great Comrade Kim Jong Un, the headquarters of the Korean revolution giving vitality of a strong army, glory and invincible strength to our revolutionary armed forces, and the columns of the corps impregnably defending the southern border of the country.

The columns of the Navy and the Air Force safeguarding the forefront of national defence marched past the square with the strong will to dedicate themselves to defending the country, led by their commanders.

The column of the Special Operations Forces, the ranks of honorable guards and spearheads of the Republic, marched past to be reviewed by the great brilliant commander. It was followed by the columns of the overseas operations units and the overseas engineers regiment with their pride as victors.

Kim Jong Un extended warm militant salute to the elite units which performed undying feats to be glorified forever in the history, demonstrating to the world the political and ideological superiority and mightiness peculiar to the People's Army regarding absolute loyalty to the WPK as its life and soul.

The paraders shouted "Hurrah!" loudly as a token of their reverence for General Kim Jong Un who brought about gigantic miracles of great significance in accomplishing the cause of building the Juche-oriented army and etched the concept of a powerful army and the law of war victory clearly in the annals of the times and history.

The columns of the corps in charge of defending the capital city of Pyongyang, the columns of the corps firmly defending the coastal areas and the rear of the country and the column of the General Border Guards Bureau defending the border vigorously passed through the square fully showcasing the modernity, advanced nature and strong spirit of our revolutionary armed forces.

The columns of the Tank and Armoured Division, the Mechanized Infantry Division and the Fire Power Attack Division, and the columns of special servicepersons including the columns of the General Reconnaissance and Intelligence Bureau, Snipers, mountain warfare infantry and signalmen were filled with the matchless stamina of the most powerful army which the enemies dare not provoke when they hear only their names, the ranks of strong soldiers that always win victory in every battle.

The columns of the Unit for Mountain Warfare in the Enemy Rear, the naval snipers unit, the paratroopers unit and the Seaborne Assault Unit, and the column of the transportation operation unit undertaking major logistic support marched past the square.

Rocking the square were cheers of loyalty raised by the columns of Kim Il Sung Military University, Kim Jong Il Military and Political Academy, Kim Il Sung Political University and Kang Kon Military Academy, prestigious military educational institutions that firmly guarantee the eternal mightiness of our revolutionary armed forces and its invincibility.

The columns of the Ministry of Public Security and the Special Task Force for Public Security which perform their honorable mission of defending the revolution, social system and people, true to the ideology and cause of the Party, marched past with redoubled courage.

The column of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards, powerful militia firmly based in all parts of the country by thoroughly implementing our Party's policy of putting all the people under arms and turning the whole country into a fortress, marched past to be followed by the column of students of revolutionary schools who are firmly preparing themselves as pillars of the Juche revolution to dynamically push forward with the growth of our state and army, decorating the end of the march of the foot columns.

Kim Jong Un expressed firm belief that the five years of the future struggle for implementing the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the Party will be also the ones when the outstanding role of our army, which no one can take its place, will be further enhanced. He extended warm encouragement to all the paraders, hoping the militant course of the armed forces of the Republic will shine with proud feats and fame.

And airplanes made demonstration flights in the nocturnal sky of the capital city.

Airplanes depicting the Party emblem and the figure "9" symbolic of the Party Congress flew over the square, letting off spectacular fireworks, with the honor of glorifying the appearance of the Workers' Party of Korea in the colors of glory and inscribing legendary feats and heroic biography in the history of the Party.

And airplanes buzzed the square and showed stunts of sudden rise, letting off sparks.

The square of the military parade was turned into a sea of flowers presenting the greatest glory to the great WPK which placed the absolute dignity and immortal reputation of our state on the highest stage of the century.

A special performance was given in the square, raising the enthusiasm of the parade.

The performers sang high praises of the immortal feats of our Party which developed our most beautiful country in the world into a powerful and matchless country with the dignity and might looking down the world and brought up our people into heroic people with staunch pioneering spirit, ardent patriotism and strong mettle.

The audience enthusiastically responded to the songs reflecting the strong will and ardent desire to show before the world how the DPRK people bring earlier the future of the most powerful country and realize all dreams of prosperity under the guidance of the great Party.

When the performance was over, the stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" with the reverence for Kim Jong Un swept the square again, resounding endlessly in the nocturnal sky of February.

Kim Jong Un warmly acknowledged the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd.

The square was overflowed with the thoughts and feelings of all the people to trust and follow only Kim Jong Un, bearing in mind the creed of life that all the dreams and ideals of the people and all the glories and happiness of their lives can be brought into full bloom only under the red Party flag of Juche.

The military parade to commemorate the Ninth Congress of the Party will be recorded in the history as a significant political and military festival which powerfully demonstrated the invincibility of the cause of the WPK, the revolutionary cause of Juche, which is shaping a rosy future with confidence by putting forward the elite revolutionary armed forces remaining absolutely loyal and obedient to the cause of the WPK as the vanguard. -0-
