Strategic Cruise Missile Launching Drill Conducted

Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- A relevant sub-unit of the Korean People's Army's combined missile unit in the western area conducted a strategic cruise missile launching drill on the West Sea of Korea on the morning of February 26.

The purpose of the launching drill was to let the enemies, who are fostering and escalating the confrontation environment while seriously violating the security environment of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, know the KPA's counterattack capability in any space and the readiness of its various nuke operation means, to demonstrate the reliability of the state nuclear deterrent and to make the strategic cruise missile sub-units get adept in fulfilling their sudden firing mission.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, oversaw the launching drill.

He was accompanied by Full General Kim Jong Sik, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK, and Full General Jang Chang Ha, general director of the DPRK Missile Administration.

The strategic cruise missiles precisely hit the targets after making flights along a 1 587km-long oval trajectory for 7 961 and 7 973 seconds.

Expressing satisfaction over the result of the launching drill, Kim Jong Un said that continuously testing the reliability and operability of the components of nuclear deterrent of the DPRK and demonstrating their power is itself a responsible exercise of its war deterrent.

What is guaranteed by a powerful striking ability is the most perfect deterrent and defence capability, he said, stressing that it is the responsible mission and duty of the DPRK's nuclear forces to durably defend the national sovereignty and security with the reliable nuclear shield by making them more thoroughly ready for combat and fully prepared for their use. -0-

 

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Visits Completed Pyongyang General Hospital

Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- Thanks to the steadfast will and energetic guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to develop the public health of the DPRK into the most advantageous and advanced socialist one so that the people can fully enjoy the benefits of modern medicine and lead a happy life in good health, a world-class medical service base has been wonderfully built in the capital city of Pyongyang as a perfect embodiment of the Workers' Party of Korea's plan for modernizing public health and its idea on Juche-oriented architectural beauty.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited the completed Pyongyang General Hospital on February 27.

He was accompanied by Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, and officials of the Party Central Committee, public health and other sectors concerned.

He was greeted on the spot by senior officials of the hospital and construction and design units.

Guided by the officials, he went round such parts of the hospital as emergency department, specialized treatment departments, general operating theatre, conference hall, service facilities and helipad to learn in detail about its overall construction.

Saying that all demands of advanced architecture were thoroughly embodied in every element of the hospital and building work was done perfectly in conformity with the public health policy of the WPK, which gives precedence to the promotion of the people's health and regards their lives as the most precious ones, and with the construction policy for its implementation and that the specialized facilities of all systems including outpatient and inpatient wards were furnished on a high quality level, he added that this is attributable to the substantial three-party agreement of design, building work and operation the relevant units made as intended by the Party.

He noted with high appreciation that in particular, the general operating theatre with 30 modern operating rooms is well furnished to ensure best public health and sanitary conditions and scientific accuracy and smoothness of treatment, as befitting the most important core facility of the hospital.

He also toured a restaurant and other public service facilities on the top floor of the building. He said that he was very pleased to think that our people can be completely recovered from diseases and promote their health while enjoying the most advanced medical service as well as civilized and excellent convenience, adding that the hospital is another proud asset of our state which absolutely subordinates everything to promoting the people's wellbeing.

He expressed great satisfaction, saying that he felt really proud to have the world-level modern medical service base and medical science research centre capable of more reliably protecting the people's health and wellbeing, that we can see our great strength rapidly growing, overcoming ordeals, and that a solid springboard has been laid for restoring and radically developing the country's public health sector on an advanced basis.

He highly praised the ardent patriotism, loyalty and devotion displayed by all the builders who contributed to the successful construction of another monumental edifice representing the era, upholding the WPK's policy with heroic creative practice.

Saying that there should be no slightest weak points in making preparations for the hospital's operation so that it can fulfil its inherent mission and role in curing people of illness and completely recovering them from it after its opening, he stressed the need to reinforce its emergency system, which can be called the first gateway to it and its face, in aspects of practical utility, rationality and efficiency so as to ensure the promptness and mobility of emergency treatment more thoroughly.

To develop the overall public health of the country on the basis of the completion of this hospital as a model medical centre is an important revolutionary undertaking to defend and develop the advantages and original feature of Korean-style socialism centred on the masses, he said, setting forth important tasks arising in building modern new hospitals that will appear not only in Pyongyang but also in cities and counties across the country in the future. He continued:

What is most important in building a hospital is to design all elements, ranging from site selection to building layout and arrangement of the line of flow, in conformity with the specialized technical requirements on the principle of guaranteeing the level of specialization and functional qualities peculiar to the public health facilities so as to make it convenient for medical service activities including diagnosis and treatment of patients.

The design sector should lead other sectors at the present time when the scope of construction is steadily expanding and the struggle for achieving comprehensive national rejuvenation is being accelerated. The design of an architectural structure to be built by our socialist ruling Party for the people should properly combine modern character with national identity while prioritizing the defending of people's life and safety and the promotion of their wellbeing, and reflect the great ideology and ennobling political creed of our times that aspire after higher ideals and civilization. In this sense, it can be said that designers are "political artists" who draw the ideas and policies of the WPK in reality.

He gave instructions to be regarded as guidelines in architectural design, adding:

Whether or not this wonderful hospital, provided by the Party, contributes to promoting the people's health entirely depends on the medical workers' thoroughgoing spirit of serving the people and specialist qualifications. The public health sector should decisively strengthen the medical forces and effectively conduct the work of raising medical science and technology to the world's advanced level, so as to ensure that all doctors and nurses devote their utmost sincerity to medical treatment with warm humanity.

In particular, continuous education, internship, experience-sharing workshop, sci-tech achievements presentation and others, aimed at broadening the regional medical workers' horizons and improving their medical skills, should be organized and conducted with a correct methodology in line with the full-scale construction of hospitals going on in cities and counties under the WPK's new regional development policy. The central-level hospitals should dispatch guidance and assistance forces to regional hospitals and introduce telemedicine and other systems and methods for giving more reasonable and effective medical service conducive to diagnosis, treatment and health promotion and provide necessary conditions, so as to contribute to making everyone enjoy substantial benefits and protection from the advantageous socialist public health system wherever they live.

Enjoying a panoramic view of the modern medical service centre on the bank of the picturesque Taedong River for a long time, he said with pride that the hospital is, indeed, a symbol of socialist public health in our era aspiring after the building of a highly civilized state and a monumental entity as well.

Saying that public health is a criterion for evaluating the political climate of a country, the level of its civilization and the quality of the life of its citizens, the soil growing the strength of life and an important index of evaluating its national power, he stressed once again that it is the firm determination of our Party to bring about a revolution in public health in the new era and thus turn our public health into the most advanced, modern and world-class one.

It is necessary to perfect the Pyongyang General Hospital, to be opened this significant year set by the WPK as the first year of the public health revolution, as the best medical service centre without any slightest defect and present it to the people, he said, laying out the detailed tasks to this end.

The Pyongyang General Hospital is expected to be inaugurated in October this year marking the 80th birthday of the WPK after undergoing the process of assembly of medical equipment and facilities and their trial operation. -0-

BGSJI and KFA UK on the 79th anniversary of Agrarian Reform in People's Korea

   The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea  (BGSJI),  and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK ( KFA UK) issued the following joint statement  on the 79th anniversary of the proclamation of the Law on Agrarian Reform in People's Korea;  

                        

 On the  5th of March  79 years ago, the  Provisional People's Committee of North Korea proclaimed the law of Agrarian Reform. The law confiscated without compensation the land of landlords with more than 5 hectares of land and distributed it free of charge to landless and land-short farmers. It was probably one of the most radical, revolutionary and thoroughgoing land reform ever carried out in history. It was radically different to land reforms carried out in other countries.

                                           

   The Agrarian Reform Law smashed the chains of ossified feudalism which had existed for centuries. It freed the farmers from the exploitation and oppression of cruel landlords and made them masters of the land. Indeed more than mere masters of the land, it made them masters of their own fate and masters of the country.

The Agrarian Reform Law broke the fetters on the rural productive forces and led to a big upsurge in agricultural production. It marked a fundamental and irreversible redistribution of wealth and power in the northern part of Korea. Thanks to the Agrarian Reform Law and later measures People's Korea is one of the most egalitarian societies in the world.
  

 Since the enactment of the Agrarian Reform Law the socialist agricultural working people have triumphantly marched along the road of Juche-oriented agricultural development.

 
  We are sure that greater successes will be made in the future. We applaud the 79th anniversary of the Agrarian Reform Law.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Inspects Kang Kon Military Academy

Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) --The prestigious military academy, which has recorded innumerable brilliant feats in its glorious colours while creditably performing its duty of training the primary commanding personnel, the backbone of basic combat units reliably supporting the immortal mightiness and invincibility of the heroic Korean People's Army, has greeted the glorious moment unprecedented in the proud 80-year history of its development.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected the Kang Kon Military Academy, a parent body of military education institutions in the country and the most prestigious commanding officers training centre, on February 25.

He was accompanied by Pak Jong Chon, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and secretary of the Party Central Committee, No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK, and other members of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.

After arriving at the academy, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the bust of Kang Kon, an anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter, who was one of the most faithful comrades-in-arms of President Kim Il Sung and a competent commanding officer, and laid a wreath before it.

Written on the ribbon of the wreath were letters reading "Our army will remember your name, Kang Kon, forever."

Recalling the distinguished feats of Kang Kon, the first chief of the KPA General Staff who dedicated as a solid cornerstone his precious life to the sacred cause for the birth and remarkable development of the DPRK's regular revolutionary armed forces, Kim Jong Un paid high respects to the great army founding generation.

There was a ceremony of greeting the head of state.

All the teaching staff and students of the academy broke into stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" looking up to the invincible and iron-willed commander who is ushering in a golden age of strengthening the military capabilities, most brilliant in the history of the country, by wisely leading the cause of building a powerful Juche-oriented army.

An educator and a student of the academy presented fragrant bouquets to Kim Jong Un, in reflection of the unanimous mind of loyalty of all the teaching staff and students.

Acknowledging the enthusiastic cheers, Kim Jong Un extended militant greetings to all the educators who are devoting themselves to the steady innovation and development in the training of military cadres, standing with their pure conscience on the sacred teaching posts entrusted to them by the Party and the country, and to the students who are preparing themselves as excellent commanding officers for the future.

He reviewed a march-past of the teaching staff and students of the academy and then saw a kyoksul (a Korean martial art) demonstration by the students.

Full of high morale and great emotion at having Kim Jong Un, the supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, in the campus of their academy, the students powerfully demonstrated their militant stamina, with which they are fully preparing themselves politically, ideologically, militarily, technically and physically, true to the Party's policy of bringing about a radical turn in training and military education.

Guided by the senior officials of the academy, Kim Jong Un made rounds of various places of the academy, including a tactical study room, unit command and management study room, military topography study room and shooting gallery.

The worthy feats of the military education institutions, which have firmly defended the core positions of the army, are clearly imprinted in the course of brilliant exploits of our armed forces which have led the dynamic upswing of the revolution as the main force of national defence, but there is no military academy with such a noble and proud history and traditions as the Kang Kon Military Academy, he said, adding:

The academy's distinguished position in the glorious army-building history can be well understood through the fact that it was awarded the first colours of the armed forces of the Republic and it stood in the van as the first column during the first military parade of the regular army.

The academy should firmly defend and carry forward its sacred history and traditions in the vanguard of military education institutions at all levels, and this holds an important position in implementing the military policy of the WPK determined to open up a new avenue for strengthening the whole army by further consolidating its basic units.

After learning in detail about the state of military education at the academy, he referred to the fact that the management and operation of educational facilities and the educational environment are not meeting the policy-oriented requirements for building a powerful army of the WPK aspiring after modernity and advanced character. And he added that the Party Committee of the KPA and the policy-oriented guidance departments in charge of the military education institutions have not fully fulfilled their responsibilities and roles.

Saying that we can see what important role this academy has played in strengthening and developing our revolutionary armed forces through its unique names, the first military educational institution of our state, a "pedigree farm" for training military cadres and a symbol of the regularized appearance and combat capability of the KPA, he gave instructions on correctly implementing the military educational policy of the Party, adding that we can now wonderfully renovate the commanding officers training bases related to the future of the KPA in line with the principles of modern pedagogy and the level of modern culture as we have the precious traditions bequeathed by the army founding generation that brought about a legendary miracle of army building from scratch and have the might that has been further strengthened in the trials.

He said that the WPK attaches importance to the academy because its graduates are to be posted to important positions closest to the soldier masses, the lowest echelon of the army, though their first posts are not high, and they can grow into competent warriors who always know victory only when they took their first steps properly as military commanders. And he expressed the steadfast will of the WPK to develop the KPA, by making a radical turn in the military education sector, into a powerful army that always wins victory in every battle and that conquers any fortress when it is determined.

Saying that the military education front is the eternal first echelon and forefront in increasing the military capability and it is our Party's constant view that a shortcut to training a powerful army is to further raise the flames of revolution in military education, he affirmed that it is his unshakable determination to successfully build this academy as a standard unit in training army commanders, in which modern educational culture is perfectly embodied, and to upgrade the military education sector of the country.

He saw the live shooting contest of teachers and students of the academy and their physical exercises with multi-purpose apparatuses.

Saying that the qualitative strengthening of the KPA and its might largely depend on how primary commanding officers of tactical-level units are trained, he stressed that the military education sector should surely instil in the students the resolute revolutionary consciousness to make the revolution before transferring military knowledge to them, and at the same time prepare them to be fighters of combat type, possessed of crack-shot marksmanship, skilful combat methods and strong physical abilities, and continued:

The basic task facing the academy is to firmly consolidate the cornerstone of a powerful army by training heroes who devote their all on the road of faithful service for the Party, the revolution and the people and creditably carry out any difficult task. The academy should make sure that all its students carry forward the faith of loyalty and patriotic spirit consistently cherished by the commanding officers of the revolutionary armed forces, from the first generation of army founding to the present one.

Today the aggressive and bellicose nature of the imperialists is most openly expressed in history and war and bloodshed have become commonplace; this international situation demands that our armed forces be perfect in readiness for a war.

He then set forth important tasks facing the military education sector in intensifying military practice-centred education and preparing all students to be reliable military personnel of field-officer type, who win only sure victory, by making them learn about in our own way the actual experiences in modern battle fields, master the rapidly-developing weapons and other combat and technical equipment and acquire the commanding abilities for modern warfare.

That day, Kim Jong Un had a photo session with the teaching staff and students of the academy.

The campus resounded with the boundless gratitude and enthusiastic cheers of all the teaching staff and students, who came to enjoy the greatest glory and happiness they had desired even in dreams during their honourable military service and the greatest trust to be dearly cherished in their minds forever.

Kim Jong Un expressed expectation and belief that the academy will steadily carry forward the sacred traditions and valuable feats of having firmly consolidated and defended the core stronghold of our revolutionary armed forces, the cornerstone of a powerful army, train a larger number of competent military commanders boundlessly loyal to the Party, the revolution, the country and the people and possessed of every capability to fight a war, and thus make a positive contribution to accomplishing the Party's cause of building a powerful army.

The loud shout of "Death-defying Defence," reflecting the unanimous pledge of loyalty of the teaching staff and students of the military academy to the great brilliant commander, resounded far and wide.

Kim Jong Un's historic field guidance at the Kang Kon Military Academy serves as a decisive turning point that provided a foundation for vivid changes and progress in bringing about a radical improvement in military education in the new era and as an important occasion of landmark significance in developing the KPA into an invincible and matchless army forever. -0-
