Recently the infamous and notorious trash tabloid the 'Sun' newspaper carried an article titled "Arena of Ghosts " denigrating the DPRK's famous May Day Stadium , which is a great achievement of People's Korea . Of course we would never expect truth and accuracy from the 'Sun ' newspaper which is full of soft pornography as well as Tory and racist propaganda aimed at lumpens nor would we expect the 'Sun ' to be sympathetic in the slightest to the DPRK which is a proud independent socialist country . The 'Sun' is one of those publications in which the only accurate thing about it is the date it was published.
Where the 'Sun ' is correct is that the May Day Stadium is the biggest stadium in the world with a seating capacity greater than Wembley or Old Trafford . However the 'Sun ' then goes on to denigrate and pour cold water on this great achievement of the DPRK by claiming that the stadium is unused , 'left to rust ' and a silly bit about people being " forced " to go to the stadium . Of course 'The Sun' does not say anything about the high ticket prices for football matches in the UK . For example for Millwall the price of single ticket for a match starts at £22 and for £473 for the cheapest season ticket ! Sport in the UK has long been commercialised and turned into business for profit . This is not the case in People's Korea where sport serves the people and is not used to make money for big monopoly capitalists .
Is is not true that the May Day Stadium is rarely used . Back in June this year it was used for anti-US rally .
The 'Sun ' in their article mentions an international wrestling event in 1995 that was held at the May Day stadium but fails to mention the World Festival of Youth and Students that was held in 1989.
The 'Sun' comes out with claptrap about people being 'forced to' attend events at the May Day Stadium . KFA UK has been to many events at the May Day stadium such as 'Arirang ' and the 'Glorious Country ' mass games . Not one looked like they were forced to attend . In fact everyone seemed very eager and enthusiastic to get into the stadium and there was minimal crowd control and yet no sign of hooliganism and violence that is seen at English football matches.
What the 'Sun ' writer cannot understand is the patriotism of the people of the DPRK , their enthusiasm for the socialist system and loyalty to the Workers Party of Korea . People participate in mass events with enthusiasm no one forces or compels them too.
