Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- The 22nd Taekwon-Do World Championships took place in Astana, Kazakhstan from August 18 to 26.
The championships brought together more than 860 excellent men and women Taekwon-Do players from over 60 countries and regions including the DPRK, Russia, Mongolia, Greece, Argentina and South Africa. The DPRK players won 64 gold medals and 31 cups including the trophy and five individual technical prizes and came first in the countries' standings.
The championships were held, divided into senior, youth, juvenile and veteran categories. The DPRK players took part in senior, youth and veteran categories.
The DPRK players took the first place in the men's and women's team pattern competition of senior and youth categories, women's team pattern competition of veteran category (silver and gold level), women's team special techniques matches of youth category, men's and women's self-defense matches of senior and youth categories, men's and women's team sparring matches of senior category, women's team sparring matches of youth category, and women's team sparring matches (silver and gold level) and women's team demonstration matches of veteran category (silver level). -0-
