On the 9th of September 1948 the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK) , the homeland of Juche and a model country of socialism , was founded by the great leader President KIM IL SUNG , the legendary hero of the Korean people’s anti-Japanese war .
It has been remarked upon by more than one person that the DPRK is the only socialist country to celebrate its 75th anniversary ; the USSR was dissolved on the 25th of December 1991 before it could reach its 70th anniversary and the Eastern European socialist countries barely reached their 40th anniversaries. The Paris Commune of 1871 regarded by many as the world’s first proletarian state lasted a mere 2 months .After the great October Proletarian socialist revolution there were short lived ‘Soviet Republics’ in Hungary , Bavaria , Finland and other countries which lasted no longer than 6 months . In Ireland the Limerick Soviet lasted only 3 days.
The DPRK has outlasted other socialist states because it is a unique socialist country which has created a durable , invincible Juche-based socialism centred upon the popular masses .Juche -based socialism was created by President KIM IL SUNG and further developed and solidified by Chairman KIM JONG IL and respected Marshal KIM JONG UN.
Socialism in the DPRK was not the creation or a gift of another country but was based on the Juche idea . As the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL wrote “. Our Republic, which incorporates the great Juche idea in its State building and State activities, is a people-centred socialist country in which the people are regarded as God, an independent socialist State with a strong Juche character and national identity “ and respected Marshal KIM JONG UN pointed out that “ Our socialism is an independent socialism strong in the Juche character and national identity.”
The DPRK pursued independent and original policies rejecting dogmatism , revisionism and big power chauvinism .In the DPRK agriculture was co-operativised before mechanisation because it was the demand of the working farmers . The DPRK did not join the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance(CMEA) but instead built a powerful independent national economy built on self-reliance . The DPRK built its own defence industry and did not rely on others for military support .In recent years despite the global pandemic and the inroad of Covid 19 the DPRK rejected imperialist aid and resolved the situation by its own efforts displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance under the leadership of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN .
The Juche-based socialism of the DPRK is people-centred socialism . The DPRK since its foundation in 1948 has always pursued people-oriented policies. This is another factor in the durability of Juche-based socialism .In People’s Korea there is free education , free health care,even free housing , low cost food and cheap public transport (the Pyongyang Metro is famous for being the cheapest underground rail network in the world ). Taxation was abolished in March 1974.In People’s Korea everything is for the people .At present the DPRK is carrying out massive housing construction both in Pyongyang and in local areas. When floods and typhoons struck Marshal KIM JONG UN made sure the reconstruction of housing was the first priority .
Some socialist countries became mired in bureaucracy and socialism was corroded in those countries but the DPRK under the leadership of President KIM IL SUNG developed the Chongsan-ri Method and Chongsan Ri spirit in which leading officials go down to basic units and the superiors help their subordinates.
All the above factors have cemented the invincibility of the DPRK, an independent socialist power of Juche where the people are united in one mind and one heart around the great Workers Party of Korea, the socialist system , the Juche Idea and Supreme leader Marshal KIM JONG UN . We wish People’s Korea another 75 years and indeed another 750 years !
