Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- Displeased with the atmosphere for detente being created on the Korean peninsula thanks to the peace-loving and proactive measure taken by the DPRK, the U.S. is openly going against it.
A typical example is the recent bluffing made by the U.S. charge d'affaires a.i. to south Korea, who at the instigation of the Trump group openly hinted that the joint military exercises with south Korea would be conducted as usual after the Winter Olympics and the issue of postponing the military exercises further has not yet been discussed.
The Trump group's racket for resuming the war exercises is a wild act of ruthlessly trampling even a small sprout of peace that has been now seen on the Korean peninsula, and it is a provocative act of chilling the active efforts of the DPRK and enthusiasm of the international community to defuse tension and create a peaceful environment.
This proves that the U.S. war shadow expected to loom after the Olympics has begun to be activated in its practical phase, not just as a hypothesis.
It is a well-known fact that whenever the DPRK-targeted U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises were held, the peace and security on the Korean peninsula were seriously threatened and hard-won atmosphere for reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south were spoilt in a moment.
What is more serious is that the Trump group recently announced it would expand the scope of the use of nuclear weapons so that they can be used even at the time of conventional weapon attack on the U.S. and its "allies", and the shipment of huge nuclear strategic hardware to and around the Korean peninsula is timed to coincide with this.
This has touched off the worldwide concerns. Lots of media and experts of the world are now worried that the resumption of the large-scale joint military exercises by the U.S. after the Winter Olympics would without doubt rattle the DPRK and chill the north-south ties that are showing positive sign, and would again push the regional situation to the extremes.
We have already clarified that we will resolutely counter any act of harassing peace and security on the Korean peninsula, and this is by no means any rhetorical threat.
However valuable the improvement of the north-south ties and the peaceful environment may be, the army and people of the DPRK will never remain an onlooker to the gangster-like acts aimed to encroach upon the security and interests of a sovereign state and to interfere in its internal affairs. The U.S. has to clearly understand this.
It is the principled stand and unshakable will of the army and people of the DPRK to counter provocation by prompt counterstrike.
The DPRK which has towered as a new strategic state will never flinch even an inch back from the path of defending independence and justice.
The Trump group has to ponder over the catastrophic consequence to be entailed by its reckless saber-rattling, and make a responsible choice. -0-

U.S. Is Left with Little Option: KCNA Commentary
Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- Recently the Trump group claimed that they can not but have recourse to a military option unless the "nuclear issue of the DPRK" is solved in a diplomatic way, which deserves serious attention.
On a number of occasions Trump hinted quite often at the possibility of the use of military muscle, uttering that options to solve the DPRK's nuclear issue involve both military and non-military ways and he wants to have the issue solved in a peaceful manner but there is a strong likelihood of solving the issue otherwise.
His confidants, including the vice-president and the secretaries of State and Defense, are vying with each other to build a world public opinion, prattling that if the DPRK doesn't select the road of dialogue and negotiations, they will pull the trigger for a military action and that they will solve the issue in a military way unless diplomacy succeeds.
At a time when the trend for improved inter-Korean relations is created on the Korean peninsula and the wish of the international community for peace and stability grows stronger thanks to the DPRK's pro-active efforts, it's hard to understand for the U.S. to tout a military option premised on the failure of what they called diplomatic ways.
It is obviously an expression of a hideous attempt to block the improvement of inter-Korean relations and again coil up the military tension on the Korean peninsula.
The U.S. tries to put a brake on the DPRK's additional military steps by threatening the latter with belligerent remarks and further inveigle south Korea and neighboring countries worrying about a war into the racket of sanctions and pressure against the DPRK and secure a justification for a risky preemptive attack in an extreme case. This is the U.S. aim at killing three birds with one stone.
But such nonsense won't work on the DPRK.
The DPRK is fully ready for both dialogue and war.
The whole world knows this fact but why the U.S. is unaware of it.
It is naive and foolhardy for the U.S. to hurt Juche Korea, unaware of its faith, will and grits.
The Trump group driven into a tight corner within and without is tying to seek a way out by triggering a war on the Korean peninsula at any cost.
The army and people of the DPRK are full of strength and will to teach the U.S. with resolute and merciless punishment that the latter's reckless military option will never offer a way to survive.
The Trump group spouted jargons that tourists should write a will before making a trip to the DPRK. If the U.S. dares to ignite a war against the DPRK, there will be left no one to keep a written will and bury a coffin. This is the answer of the DPRK.

A typical example is the "possibility of defection" of our personnel dispatched to the south which is given much publicity through U.S. media.
CNN and CBS of the U.S. reported that more than 500 north Koreans are staying in south Korea, "better-off and free", and the north side authorities are closely monitoring them because of the possibility of their "defection" during the Olympics.
They even said that north Korean athletes attempted "defection" in the middle of international games in the past, adding if the similar thing happens, the north can not but be embarrassed and the south side authorities may be put in an awkward situation.
By putting into use the defectors of sportsperson and artiste origin, they went vicious to shake the pure minds of our people through such rhetoric as "round-the-clock surveillance" and "the first look at the rich and democratic neighbor".
The rubbish made by CNN and CBS is a hideous anti-DPRK farce being orchestrated at the instruction and under the manipulation by the Trump group including the Central Intelligence Agency, upset by the present north-south relations wrapped by enthusiasm for reconciliation and unity.
In his recent "state of the union address", Trump viciously slandered the DPRK while raising "human rights issue". Not content with it, he met "defectors from the north", and the vice-president visiting south Korea took human scum to the "Warship Cheonan Memorial" where he made vituperation against the DPRK, shocking the world.
The wild act of the Trump group keen on turning the Olympics, symbol of peace, into a theatre for confrontation with the DPRK would only reveal its dirty nature as the kingpin of plot-breeding.
The Trump group bluffed about "calm before storm" and "fire and fury". Now it is using such human scum for the petty scheme.
Tragic is that the Trump group is going reckless, not realizing the transparent faith of the Korean people in socialism which can never be imitated, their mental power based on single-minded unity and the Koreans' strong desire for improved north-south ties and reunification.
The Trump group had better not exhaust themselves, giving up the pipe dream of "collapse of the system in the north" which can never come true.
It has to bear in mind that the south Koreans and all other Koreans see through the dirty nature of the U.S. as a cancer-like entity standing in the way of peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula in its perverse and obstructive acts of chilling the efforts for the improvement of the north-south ties.

In a few days time on the 16th of February it will be 76 years since the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL was born on the snow-swept humble log cabin on Mt Paektu, the base of the Korean revolution and the ancestral mountain of Korea.
The many decades of the life of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL were marked by great accomplishments in all fields of activities .Comrade KIM JONG IL was a man of many talents and versatility who was not only a great ideologist and political thinker but a brilliant military commander and a man of culture and art .Such multi-faced talents and abilities are indeed rare to find.
KIM JONG IL whose Songun revolutionary leadership spanned some 51 years was the revolutionary successor to the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG , who had authored the great Juche Idea and had most an independent socialist country with an advanced socialist system centred on the popular masses .The great leader Comrade KIM JONG IL made sure that these achievements were not only safeguarded but continued and carried forward . The question of succession to the leadership is a key one on which the continuation of the revolution depends . In a number of socialist countries is was not correctly solved leading to disaster and grief, for example renegade Khruschov came to power after the death of Stalin and introduced modern revisionism , wrecking the Soviet Union , putting on the road of eventual collapse in 1991. In China after Mao passed way 'reform ' and 'opening up ' was adopted , undermining socialism. In Albania those that came after Hoxha presided over counter-revolution.
Chairman KIM JONG IL developed in depth and systematised the Juche idea , the guiding ideology of People's Korea and acme of all progressive ,anti-imperialist ideas. In March 1982 he authored the immortal treatise “ON THE JUCHE IDEA “ and a number of other important works on the Juche idea . Indeed KIM JONG IL not only systematised the Juche Idea but was the standard bearer of the Juche era, an era of revolution in which the people emerged as masters of their destiny and fought for independence . The work ON THE JUCHE IDEA was translated into many languages and studied in many countries, being hailed as the “Communist manifesto' of the 20th century .
When imperialists , dominationists and big power chauvinists tried to put pressure on the DPRK not to follow the road of Juche , comrade KIM JONG IL put forward the militant revolutionary slogan “ Let Us Live Our Way ! “ in December 1978 and lead the Korean people to an upsurge in the revolution and construction.
Comrade KIM JONG IL built up the Workers Party of Korea as the party of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG by establishing the monolithic ideological system which ensured idealogical purity .
Chairman KIM JONG IL , an victorious general of Mt Paektu started the Songun –based revolutionary leadership on August 25 1960 at the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su No 105 Tank Division of the Korean People's Army. He administered Songun politics in the 1990s and 2000s thereby smashing the insidious schemes of the US imperialists to stifle People’s Korea militarily and make its people slaves of modern colonialism.
Saying “Expect No Change from me” KIM JONG IL made sure that Korea held high the Red flag of socialism when socialism collapsed owing to the treachery of the modern revisionists. He rebuffed those who urged the so-called “reform “ and “opening up” and led the march towards a thriving socialist nation .
Under the leadership of the great leader Chairman KIM JONG IL the DPRK became a proud independent nuclear power as well as a satellite launching nation. The first roar of nuclear thunder was heard on the 9th of October 2006.
Comrade KIM JONG IL was the great champion of Korean reunification and the architect of the June 15 Joint Declaration of 2000. He always strived for independent
reunification without outside interference, particularly that of the US , the sworn enemy of the Korean people.
Comrade KIM JONG IL was associated with militant anti-imperialism and the struggle for global independence . He wrote many works such as “The Characteristics of Modern Imperialism and its aggressive nature “ which gave a correct and useful analysis of modern imperialism . When the international communist movement was in a state of confusion , despair and disillusion due to the frustration of socialism in some countries he rebuffed those who said , socialism had failed by writing works such as “Socialism Is A Science “ and “The Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable “.
We remember the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL as an unparalleled great leader whose achievements will shine forever . Today the Juche revolutionary cause and Songun revolutionary cause are carried forward by his successor the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN who is leading the Korean people forward, under the banner of Juche and self-reliance , to the bright morrow of a thriving socialist country

The director of the press of the Institute for American Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued a statement in regard to the attempts of the US imperialists to revive and recycle the case of Otto Warmbier , a US student who had been detained in the DPRK for a criminal act and was subsequently returned to the US but died in the US . The US has gone to extreme lengths to make political capital out of Warmbier's death , using it as stick to the beat the DPRK with . The Warmbier family were invited to the State of the Union address by Trump and taken to south Korea for the
Winter Olympics .
The facts are that Warmbier a student from a wealthy American capitalist family committed a serious crime in the DPRK basically abusing the hospitality and the goodwill of the Korean people and as a result was punished . Warmbier had himself confessed to being involved in anti-DPRK plot concocted by US intelligence agencies. Warmbier passed away shortly after being returned to the US , he did not die on DPRK soil . It is the US that needs to explain why he died so quickly after being returned to the US .
Indeed the director of the press of the Institute for American Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry draws a parallel with the earlier case of Hunizker "who illegally entered the DPRK territory on August 24, 1996 and returned home on November 27 same year in good health, thanks to our humanitarian measure, accompanied by Bill Richardson, the then U.S. House representative, died less than one month after his return. At that time, U.S. completely ignored and mentioned no word at all of his death."
The US really needs to stop using the Warmbier case for the purposes of DPRK bashing .It is the US that has the worst human rights record as it is a society characterised by extreme racism and White supremacism. If the US is worried about students dying it should do something about the massacre of high school students on several occasions !
