Kaesong Koryo Insam

From remote days the Koryo insam of Kaesong has enjoyed worldwide fame as an elixir of life.

It was grown mostly in the Kaesong area, hence it was named “Koryo insam of Kaesong” or “Kaesong insam”.

The roots of insam usually resemble the form of human body.

In insam “in” means man and “sam” thick root.

Insam means panacea or cure-all.

It was named “Koryo insam” when it was widely exported during the Koryo Dynasty (918-1392).

It was known as a special remedy from the period of the Three Kingdoms of Korea and used as the most effective elixir of life during the Koryo Dynasty and the Feudal Joson Dynasty (1392-1910).

Insam helps a return to normal of the functions of the nerve, immune and endocrine systems of human body.

With a growing demand for wild insam it began to be grown from the period of the Koryo Dynasty and, thereafter, the artificial cultivation method developed into field cultivation in the late 17^th century.

The Kaesong area became the centre of insam cultivation and processing because the area had the particular soil and climatic conditions for growing insam and a developed commerce.

Insam dislikes strong sunlight and likes most the sunlight permeating through branches and leaves in the forest.

A perennial medicinal plant of Araliaceae, insam propagates with seeds.

It blossoms and bears fruit 3 or 4 years after seeding and roots are usable in the sixth year.

According to the methods of processing, Koryo insam is divided into different kinds.

Unprocessed roots are called susam (fresh insam) and roots washed with water, and dried in the sunlight with hairy roots and outer skin removed are called paeksam (white insam).

Susam steamed without outer skin and dried in the sunlight is called hongsam (red insam) and susam boiled down in thick sugar liquid without hairy roots is called tangsam (sweet insam).

Hairy roots of susam dried in the sunlight are called misam (hairy root insam).

Insam is used as tonic medicine against asthenia and for convalescence and recovery from physical and mental fatigue.

It is effective against anorexia, indigestion, diarrhea, chronic gastritis, atrophy, diabetes, palpitation of the heart, insomnia, low blood pressure, sexual disinclination, anemia, hepatitis and other diseases.

Recently, it is used against cancer.

The Association for the Study of Songun Politics and the Juche Idea Study Group of England today issued the following joint statement on the forthcoming 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Workers' Party of Korea(WPK) ;

The Worker' Party of Korea , the supreme general staff of the Korean revolution ,which was  founded on the 10th of October 1945 by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG  is an invincible steel-strong party of the Juche type that has travelled a road of victory and glory during its seven decades.
                  The Workers' Party of Korea is rooted  firmly in the revolutionary traditions of the Down With Imperialism Union (DIU) which was founded by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG  .The great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG led the new generation of young communists to break with the ideas of factionalism and flunkeyism . The WPK  has inherited the ideas of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle . Its foundation in 1945 was the fruit of years of struggle and preparation for party foundation.
  The Workers' Party of Korea is the organiser and guide of the Korean people and the general staff of the Korean revolution .  The Korean people under the banner of the red flag of the WPK built an advanced socialist system.  Korea was  transformed from being once a colony into a powerful socialist country of Juche , a country that is independent, self- sufficient and self- reliant in defence. Korea which had once not been able to make even the simplest weapons for itself became a socialist nuclear power with long-range rockets under the Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL and the WPK.
                The WPK is the mother party that takes care of the peoples lives. Free education and free health care were introduced, long ago, indeed the free health system was introduced in the flames of war in 1953. Korean people receive great social benefits such as free housing and taxation was abolished in 1974. Now under the leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the WPK is pushing forward all manner of projects to improve living standards.  . Thus the DPRK is becoming a people's paradise the envy of the world people and the model that the world revolutionary people dream of.
                                                                             
           The WPK under the guidance of the great leaders comrades KIM IL SUNG, KIM  JONG IL and KIM JONG UN has united the people solidly around itself, achieved single-hearted and single-minded unity the like of which is not seen anywhere else in the world. The WPK has achieved total oneness of ideology , a unique feat in the international communist movement. The leader , party , army and people form an integral harmonious whole . No other country in the world knows such unity and amity . This is due to the outstanding leadership of the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG and his Juche-orientated theories on party building. This has splendidly carried forward by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il who has built up the WPK as the party of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung. Now the dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  has ensured that the WPK is and will always be the party of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG and  general  KIM JONG IL.
                                        
                        The Workers' Party of Korea has staunchly fought against modern revisionism , opportunism , flunkeyism ,dogmatism and factionalism . It has upheld the red flag of socialism opposing the attempts of the modern revisionists, renegades and imperialists to stifle socialism. Under the leadership of dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un the WPK smashed the attempt of the counter-revolutionary factional clique in December 2013. Now the WPK is waging a revolutionary ideological offensive. As the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN pointed out
" The most powerful weapon for a party that wages a revolution shouldering people's destiny is ideology, and it is its one and only weapon. Without ideology, a party cannot be founded nor can it exist, and its work and revolutionary struggle are inconceivable separated from ideological work. The bloodline of the revolution is defended and the revolution advances on the strength of ideology."
                                                 

                                The WPK has maintained revolutionary and class principles such as  the line of anti-imperialist, anti US struggle when others compromised and kowtowed to US imperialism and still do.  Under the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism the WPK is  not only the leading force of the Korean people but a shock brigade of the world revolution. The WPK stands out as a model for revolutionary parties througout the world.
  Today under the Songun revolutionary leadership of the dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN the WPK is rushing forward under the unfurled red banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism to the bright future of a thriving socialist country and reunification. Victory and glory to the Workers' Party of Korea led by dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  !

The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) and the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA) made the following commentary about the independent right of the DPRK to launch satellites and to conduct a nuclear test;

The US imperialists and other forces should not try to interfere in or frustrate any potential launch of a satellite by the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea as it is the inalienable sovereign right to do so . The DPRK does not need the permission of the US or UN or anyone else to pursue space exploration . Neither the US or Soviet space programme's needed approval from the UN nor were subject to discussion by the UN Security Council. A number of countries have launched satellites without them being subject to sanctions by the UN. As to so-called UN resolutions concerning past satellite launches by the DPRK , this resolutions are illegal ones as they were concocted by the US and violated the sovereignty of the DPRK thus were in violation of the UN Charter itself.
                     Satellite launches by the DPRK are a powerful demonstration of its Juche-based independent national economy and the advance of Juche-based science and technology .
                   The US imperialists and their followers are also trying to take issue with the DPRK conducting a nuclear test . This is a matter for the DPRK to decide whether it has a nuclear test or not. It is the DPRK's right to defend itself against the ever-increasing US threat and the attempts of US and world imperialism to stifle People's Korea .

The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) and the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA) issued the following joint statement calling for the immediate repatriation  of DPRK Citizen Kim Ryon Hui  to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea , the socialist homeland:

We were shocked to read of the case of Kim Ryon Hui a  DPRK citizen who had been ad gone to China to visit relatives in June, 2011but was taken to south Korea by deception and trickery against her own will.   She has a husband ,  a child and her parents in the DPRK and wishes to return to the DPRK. She has no wish to stay in south Korea as there  and has many times requested that she be sent back to the DPRK her homeland where her family are living.
                    South Korea is a real tundra of human rights where workers are exploited a 100 and a 1000 times over and where the 1 per cent lord it over the 99 per cent.  Many of those who were decieved or forcibly taken to south Korea   now live hard lives in south Korea , only a tiny minority of treacherous scum manage to earn money by telling lies about the DPRK . Some 'defectors ' from the DPRK in south Korea have committed suicide and others complain about ill-treatment.

It is truly despicable that the south Korean puppets do not return Kim Ryon Hui to the DPRK and prevent her from returning . This is a real violation of human rights as well being contray to the spirit if not the actual letter of inter-Korean agreements . The south Korean authorities should be made to answer for this.

We demand that Kim Ryon Hui  should be returned to the DPRK  as soon as possible without any delay !
Her case should be widely publicised amongst human rights organisations as well as the labour , progressive and anti-imperialist movement.
