KFA UK Response to Remarks of Barbara Woodward British Ambassador to the UN.

Recently, as if they had nothing better to do the UN Security Council (UNSC ) held a meeting to discuss the recent successful ICBM launch by People’s Korea and the US and other Western countries vociferated about the DPRK’s missile launch and slandered the DPRK.

Barbara Woodward ( not to be confused with the late animal trainer Barbara Woodhouse ) the British ambassador to the UN  slandered People’s Korea at the meeting of the UNSC.

Woodward claimed that the DPRK gave no warning of its missile test. However, the Press Statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry of 17th of February stated that “In case the U.S. and south Korea carry into practice their already-announced plan for military drills which the DPRK, with just apprehension and reason, regards as preparations for an aggression war, they will face unprecedentedly persistent and strong counteractions”.

The DPRK’s ICBM test was a legitimate response to the arms build-up by the US, south Korea and Japan as well as a number of planned military exercises by the US and south Korea. Anyway, why does the DPRK need to give a warning about its ICBM test ? . Ms Woodward’s statement smacks of imperialism, big power chauvinism, colonialism and neo-colonialism.

The DPRK is not a colony and is no one’s puppet, it does not permission from others to exercise its legitimate right to self-defence.

Woodward called for the DPRK to enter into dialogue with the US but the US talk of dialogue is false and a deception. Woodward is really calling for the overthrow of the socialist system in the DPRK through the disarmament of the DPRK.

Woodward slanders the socialist system of the DPRK claiming that ‘we know that while new missiles are displayed on the streets of Pyongyang, the people of the DPRK continue to face a serious humanitarian crisis.”. This is a big lie. In fact, the people of the DPRK enjoy virtually free housing, low-cost food, free education and free healthcare. It is Britain where increasing numbers of people are turning to food banks and facing rising food prices -even a tin of baked bins can cost £1 !!!. The DPRK is totally right to reject imperialist aid because it aims to undermine and destroy the socialist system of the DPRK. The DPRK’s ICBMs and nukes protect the happy lives of the Korean people under the socialist system.

The British FCDO should stop parroting US nonsense like a worn-out, tired old poodle!
