Report of Online Meeting ‘KIM JONG IL and Juche-based socialism ‘ held to commemorate the 81st birth anniversary of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL 13.02.2023.



The Korean Friendship Association UK, the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK  held an online meeting titled ‘ KIM JONG IL and Juche-based Socialism “ to mark the 81st anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL. The meeting was held on 13.02.2023 via Skype at 1800 hours. It was participated in by KFA UK officials, activists and members and others from London, West of England, Staffordshire and other parts of the UK. Also participating were guests from Canada, Germany and Greece.


Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman of the Korean Friendship Association of the UK and Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea opened the meeting by saying that the birth anniversary of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL is celebrated by the Korean people and world progressive people as the Day of the Shining Star.


The DPRK Embassy in London sent a message to the meeting and a paper titled “ Recalling about Chairman Kim Jong Il’ which outlined the reminiscences of political figures from Russia and India who praised comrade KIM JONG IL as a great political figure who defended independence.


In his presentation on ‘ KIM JONG IL and Juche-based Socialism, “ Dr Hudson outlined the achievements made by comrade KIM JONG IL in guiding the work of socialist construction and concluded by saying that ‘the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL  made shining achievements in leading the work of socialist construction over several decades, laying firm foundations for a powerful and thriving socialist country of Juche based firmly on the idea of self-development, He was the genius of self-reliant socialist construction. His work is continued today by his worthy and loyal successor  dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN

Comrade Alan Bolon, KFA UK Organisation Secretary, head of KFA UK West of England and editor of “ People’s Korea Today ‘ read out a passage from the book  ‘ Kim Jong Il in his young days “ which told the story of how comrade KIM JONG IL as a young student was working on a construction site and helped an old woman get some coal but did not identify himself. The story illustrated the humble and modest nature of comrade KIM JONG IL who was a true people’s leader.


The head of Staffordshire KFA UK and special advisor to the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said that comrade KIM JONG IL defended socialism, developing the Juche idea and administering Songun (army first ) politics. The head of Staffordshire KFA read out a poem titled ‘"Epic To The Great Man" by the Russian poet Vasily Grishayev that was written in 1996.


A supporter of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain Marxist-Leninist stated that comrade KIM JONG IL defended socialism declaring ‘ Expect No Change from Me ‘ , thus confounding the imperialists.


A member of KFA UK resident in Greece and member of KFA Greece praised comrade KIM JONG IL as a great leader whose achievements are a shining example to the people of the world.


A 1-minute silence in memory of veteran revolutionary O Kuk Ryol who passed away on the 9th of February.


Dr Hudson referred to the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People’s Army (KPA). He said that the KPA had been established as an independent, Juche-orientated defence force. The 75th anniversary of the foundation of the KPA had been celebrated splendidly in Pyongyang with the magnificent grand parade of the KPA. Dr Hudson said that the parade surpassed the previous ones.


A letter to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted.


An excerpt of the documentary film ‘ "Always Working Together for the People" was shown and enthusiastically watched by the audience.
