The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in Korea (BSCPRKP) issued a joint statement supporting the Report of the DPRK Society for International Politics Study titled "The U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises are the cancer-like factor harassing peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region" ' which was published on Sunday 4th of September ;
The report of the DPRK Society for International Politics Study rightly denounces the continuous war exercises of the US imperialists and south Korean puppets in south Korea as being ‘cancer like ‘ .This is indeed true .
The report gives a full history of the aggressive exercises of the US and south Korea which began back in 1954 , 68 years ago . It is correctly pointed out that “The number of all kinds of joint military exercises staged by the U.S. and the south Korean puppets from 1954 to 2013 are approximately 18 000 times, counting only those opened to media.” This means that on average 305 military exercises have been carried out each year by the US and south Korea , a staggering number which is unprecedented and does not exist anywhere else in the world .
Moreover the joint military exercises of the US and south Korea have been nuclear war drills and have involved nuclear weapons . Now the US plans to bring strategic nuclear assets in south Korea and deploy them in joint military exercises.Thus they are bringing the clouds of nuclear war onto the Korean peninsula .
A not so hidden aim of the US-south Korea joint military exercises is ‘regime change ‘, to topple the socialist system of the DPRK .
The US-south Korea joint military exercises also threaten neighbouring countries of the DPRK and are stoking up a new cold war in Asia .
We support the conclusion of the Report which states that “the DPRK's war deterrent is, indeed, the only and the most reliable means for defending peace and stability and preventing war in the Korean peninsula and the region’ .The DPRK is fully justified in possessing a nuclear deterrent and taking steps to increase nuclear deterrence.
The US and south Korea need to halt joint military exercises and the US needs to get out of south Korea !
