February 16th is celebrated by the Korean people and by people all over the World , as the Day of the Shining Star . It is the 80th birth anniversary of the Dear Leader Comrade Kim Jong il . Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea from 1997 until his sudden passing in December 2011 .
The Dear Leader Kim Jong il was born 80 years ago on Mt. Paektu , a son of anti – Japanese revolutionary fighters . He became the successor to the Great Leader and founder Comrade Kim IL Sung .
Comrade Kim Jong il led the Korean revolution during his leadership by further developing the Juche idea and administrating Songun politics that led to many successes and victories . Under his leadership the DPRK continued to grow as a great military socialist power and a nuclear state .
During difficult times , comrade Kim Jong il worked ceaselessly for the Korean people and turned the DPRK into a mighty socialist power that defended socialism and fought for global independence . Despite sanctions imposed on the DPRK by imperialist forces , comrade Kim Jong il still managed to make his people more prosperous and happy . The people loved the Dear Leader and the Dear Leader loved the people .
His many achievements included the first ever inter-Korean Summit and made reunification a major priority as well as reuniting many families that had been separated by the war . He made visits to China and Russia to help foster better relations with the DPRK’s allies .
It is for these reasons and many more that the Day of the Shining Star is so venerated and celebrated throughout the World , especially on its 80th anniversary . It reminds us of his untiring leadership , unswerving devotion to the DPRK and the people and his everlasting impact on world geopolitics .
