Report of the European Regional Seminar on the Juche Idea -by Dr Dermot Hudson chairman of the Juche Idea Study Group of England

The European Regional Seminar on the Juche Idea was held on the 14th and 15th of September in Sofia , Bulgaria. The theme was 'Independence , Sovereignty and International Co-Operation '. The seminar was organised by the European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Korean Association of Social Scientists  of the DPRK .

The event was hosted by the Bulgarian Juche Idea Study Group who formed the Preparatory Committee and took charge of the hard work of organising the seminar . A high degree of professionalism was displayed by our Bulgarian hosts. Some veteran Bulgarian communists were present including the former Bulgarian consul to the Libyan People’s Socialist Jamahiriya .There were also a number of Bulgarian young people at the event .
                                         

   Chairman of the Juche Idea Study Group of England Dr Dermot Hudson addressed a meeting of Bulgarian youth and students  which was held in the evening of the 13th of September


 Delegations were present from Britain, Russia , Germany , Bulgaria , Czechoslovakia , Italy , Spain , Ukraine ,Romania , Finland , France and Austria . A delegation from the International Institute of the Juche Idea also participated . Officials ,activists and members of the Korean Friendship Association  from Britain , Italy , Spain , Germany and  Slovakia were present.

The delegation of the Korean Association of Social Scientists delegation was led by the general secretary of KASS , comrade Ri Song Chol .
                             

During the first day many speeches were made about applying the Juche idea to Europe. In his speech Dr Dermot Hudson said  "We must apply the Juche idea in Europe by building an independent Europe under the banner of the Juche idea . All European countries should become independent .

 For us Juche followers in Britain is the question of leaving the European Union ,popularly known as Brexit .The government of Boris Johnson has pledged to leave the EU by the 31st of October this year. Will Britain  become more independent as a result or will it become even more dependent on US imperialism ? Will there be a reactionary Brexit representing the opinion of some narrow chauvinistic sections of the ruling class or will there be a People's Brexit benefiting the people of Britain , that we British Juche idea followers must address. To achieve real independence European countries should not only expel US troops and bases from their soil but also build independent ,self-reliant national economies and build an independent national culture.  In the past we we formed the Juche Idea Study Group of England , some backward and ignorant elements opposed us saying what we were doing had no relevance to the country but the Juche Idea shows the way to achieve independence and the experience of Juche Korea is a great example for an independent and an independent Europe"
  Jean Claude Martini of KFA Italy said that " The question of sovereignty has always been a central question in the international affairs of the modern world.... What does the struggle for sovereignty in Europe mean ? It means exploiting the contradictions between imperialist groups in the interests of our common cause , creating tens of Brexits all around Europe but without Theresa May , Boris Johnson and other representatives of the capitalist exploiting class".

The seminar adopted a letter to dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN , supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

 On the second day general secretary Ri Song Chol of KASS gave a lecture on titled "Miraculous  Reality of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea brought about thanks to Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism 'in which he said "The DPRK's socialism where the people-first principle is being applied is the most superior one ensuring the worthwhile political life to the masses"

The Bulgarian Preparatory Committee hosted a meal at the Forest Restaurant for us which even had live entertainment . There was also a sightseeing programme on the Sunday morning which included some buildings from the socialist era in Bulgaria though regrettably the tomb of Georgi Dimitrov had been blown up by mad anti-communist reactionaries  although a metro station named after him still exists.
  All in all it was a very productive and pleasant meeting .
