Pagyon Falls

 

Pagyon Falls is one of the famously amazing waterfalls in the DPRK. On the top of the falls there is a singular pond called Pagyon, originally a broad and flat rock which was dug in the shape of a dipper. The pond is 24 metres in circumference, 8 metres in diameter and about 5 metres deep. Below the falls there is a pond called Komo, which is 120 metres in circumference and about 40 metres in diameter. Pagyon Falls, 37 metres high and 1.5 metres wide, is located in Kaesong Municipality in the southern part of the DPRK.

Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, met war veterans and persons of wartime merits, who took part in the celebrations of the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, and shared warm feelings with them on July 28.

War veterans and persons of wartime merits were filled with boundless emotion and joy as they were honoured to be present at the moment of happiness and glory they had wished even in their dreams after taking part in the splendid celebrations of the Day of Victory in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared, all the participants paid their sincere respects and gratitude to the most brilliant commander and great father who has been glorifying the tradition of July 27, the Day of Victory, and heroic spirit, both of which symbolize the immortal honour of the DPRK, century after century and inspiringly ushering in a new era of building a rich country with a strong army for which all the generations of this land are yearning.

Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly waved back to war veterans and persons of wartime merits, the defenders who wrote the first page in the history of the great power at the cost of their blood and the benefactors who provided the spiritual mainstay of our country which will be powerful forever.

He said that the annual events arranged to splendidly mark July 27, the Day of Victory, together with the wartime generation serve as a significant occasion of instilling into the hearts of the descendants the spirit of self-respect which was fully displayed in the heroic annals and the truth of sure victory which can never be bartered for anything, and those aimed to encourage the struggle for winning new victories.

It is a great pleasure of and encouragement to our Party, state and people that the victorious wartime generation, who demonstrated to the world the heroic position and reputation of our country which should be glorified through generations, are standing before us as the personifier and witness of miraculous victory, he noted.

He had a photo to be recorded forever in the history of succession taken with war veterans and persons of wartime merits, expressing his firm will to reliably carry forward the great and excellent features and the myth of the most righteous power created amidst the gunfire of the hard-fought war in 1950s as the lineage of the ever-victorious Korean revolution, and thus powerfully hasten the building of the prosperous power that the heroic wartime generation envisioned.

Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly shook hands with the participants who were trying to be the first to meet him with their eyes in tears of emotion and repeatedly hoped that precious war veterans and persons of wartime merits, who play the role of the inexhaustible strength and spiritual mainstay that nobody can perform in their place even today when their hair turned gray, would be full of energy despite their advanced age. -0-

Military Miracles in Fatherland Liberation War

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, the invincible and iron-willed commander, the service personnel and people of the DPRK defeated the enemy's numerical and military and technical superiority by means of their politico-ideological and strategic and tactical superiority and won a brilliant victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950 - July 27, 1953).

When they ignited the Korean War, the U.S. imperialists miscalculated that the young DPRK would be easily conquered by their huge military muscle.

During the three-year war, the U.S. imperialists hurled into the Korean front the troops amounting to more than two millions, including one third of the U.S. Army, one fifth of the U.S. Air Force, most of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and the armies of its satellite countries they mobilized by abusing the name of the UN, and spent over 73 million tons of munitions, 11 times those they consumed in the Pacific War.

But the myth of "mightiness" of the U.S. imperialists, who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, was shattered and their new-type weapons destroyed since the start of the war.

During the war, the Korean People's Army killed, wounded and captured more than 1 567 120 enemies including 405 490 U.S. imperialist aggressor troops and captured and destroyed a huge amount of combat equipment including 12 220 aircrafts, 3 250 tanks and armored vehicles.

This was nearly 2.3 times as much as the losses the U.S. imperialists suffered in the four-year Pacific War during the Second World War.

Taft, the then commander of the U.S. forces, said that it was very clear that the U.S. was defeated in Korea, and that there was no enough army to repel the Korean People's Army in the world. Ridgway, commander of the "UN Forces", said that the U.S. should not forget the bitter mistakes and lessons it suffered in the Korean War and the armistice talks with the DPRK.

Clark, commander of the U.S. forces in the Far East and commander of the "UN Forces", also deplored that he came to be dishonored as the first commander of the U.S. forces who did not win victory and signed the armistice agreement in the history of the U.S.

The U.S. imperialists' fate was so miserable as to ignite the Korean War, and the victory won by the brave army and people of the DPRK in the war was recorded as a miracle in the world history of wars. -0-

BGSJI and KFA UK support press statement of comrade Kim Yo Jong on ASEAN

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI), and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK )  , issued a joint statement in support of the press statement of comrade  Kim Yo Jong, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea that was made on the 27th of July;

As stated in the international media recently the ASEAN Regional Forum  foreign ministers took place in Manila , Philippines and a statement was issued by the Chairman of the meeting (the foreign minister of the Philippines ) which called for the so-called "denuclearisation " of the DPRK which of course goes against the DPRK's constitutional rights and independence and is basically an affront to the dignity of the DPRK.

Comrade Kim Yo Jong in her statement says "I express strong dissatisfaction with the forum's undisguised hostile attitude of going along with the U.S. trumpeting about "denuclearization", ignoring the constitution of the DPRK and running counter to it, and resolutely denounce and reject this with the sternest rhetorical expression.

Such an act of the U.S. and its vassal forces to change the status of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state, permanently settled by its state constitution, only with a piece of document without any legal restraint is nothing but a foolish attempt"

The DPRK is absolutely correct to denounce and reject the statement of the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers meeting and reject.

ASEAN should stop acting as mouthpiece for the US. These days ASEAN is presenting a poor image as a collection of neo-colonial countries and reactionary states . 

We support the press statement of comrade Kim Yo Jong and strongly denounce the 'statement ' of the ASEAN  Foreign Ministers !

Report of the International Online Seminar “Cheers of Victory Reverberating Down Many Decades “ 26.07.2026

The International Online Seminar “ “Cheers of Victory Reverberating Down Many Decades “ organised by the Korean Friendship Association and the European Regional Committee For Friendship with the Korean People was held to mark the 73rd anniversary of the Korean people’s great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War Against the US imperialist Aggressors .

The seminar received written  papers from Austria , Croatia , Denmark , Germany , Greece ,Hungary , India , Italy , Iraq, Mexico , Pakistan ,Poland,Singapore ,  Sweden ,Switzerland, Turkey , UK  and from the KFA President Alejandro Cao Benos and the KFA International communications secretary .

On the afternoon of the 26th of July an online symposium took place hosted by the Korean Friendship Association . It was participated in by the following countries ;UK ,  Austria , Croatia , Denmark , Germany,India, Pakistan, Poland  Spain , Sweden and Switzerland . KFA UK members from London, the north west and Staffordshire .

 A message from the DPRK Embassy in London was received and read out by KFA UK Chairman Dr Dermot Hudson . The message read in part ; “The great victory of Juche Korea heralded the dawn of history in which a small nation defeated a major power.

DPRK thwarted the U.S. imperialists' strategy for world domination, prevented a new world war, safeguarded peace, and saved the planet from a potential nuclear catastrophe.

The Fatherland Liberation War marked the prelude to a new world war. Having emerged as the ringleader of imperialism after World War II, the United States sought to realize its strategy for global hegemony.”

Christer Lundgren chairman of the European Regional Committee for Friendship with the Korean People(ERCFKP) and head of the Sweden -Korea Friendship Association said that July 27th was the great victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation against the US and pointed out “It should be remembered that the South Korean puppet regime, hell bent on continuing the war, refused to sign the armistice agreement, so any talk about a Korean north-south armistice is simply wrong. The conflict remains one between the People's Korea and the US imperialists”

Martin Lotscher head of KFA Switzerland and vice-chairman of the ERCFKP said that “The Korean people's great victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War encouraged all peoples in Asia, Africa and Latin America who were still fighting for their own liberation and freedom.

Korea's Great Fatherland Liberation War became the model for antiimperialist and national liberation struggle”

Alejandro Cao De Benos , President of the Korean Friendship Association in his contribution stated  “Today, we declare with absolute confidence that such a war will never happen again. The tragic suffering of the 1950s will not be repeated. Thanks to the steadfast military development of the Republic, it now possesses a reliable and effective war deterrent. The nuclear forces serve as the core of military sovereignty and the centerpiece of self-defense strategy. As Comrade Marshal KIM JONG UN has emphasized, the DPRK has advanced along the path of a nuclear-armed state, overcoming all oppression and challenges to secure absolute power capable of preventing and deterring war itself. The military capabilities—from the nuclear arsenal to the recently commissioned Choe Hyon Destroyer—stand as an unbreachable shield. The imperialists know well that any new adventure on the Korean Peninsula would invite a catastrophic response”

Dr Dermot Hudson head of KFA UK and Secretary general of the ERCFKP explained that “The title of this seminar “Cheers Of Victory Reverberating Down Many Decades “ is very apt and relevant because the cheers of victory on July 27th 1953 in Pyongyang still echo today not just in Pyongyang but around the entire world . Today, when US led imperialism is carrying out aggression all over the world and some countries are crumbling, it is important to recall the great victory of the Korean people against US imperialism in the 1950s.

Often the imperialists like to refer to the Korean War (more correctly called the Fatherland Liberation War ) as the “unknown war “ or “forgotten war “ . The reason for this can be found in the statement of right wing US military historian Bevin Alexander , himself an officer in the US imperialist aggression forces during the war , who wrote that the Fatherland Liberation War was the “first war we lost”. The infamous reactionary senator JR McCarthy said that ““we suffered a serious defeat in Korea “.”

Paula A , KFA International Communications Secretary said that “May we never forget the glorious achievements Eternal President KIM IL SUNG, the Korean People’s Army and the Korean people made to liberate their country, remain sovereign and guarantee the bright future of their children”

Speakers from KFA Austria , KFA Croatia , KFA Germany  and  KFA Hungary addressed the meeting. Javed Ansari of the Pakistan Korea Friendship and Solidarity Committee greeted the meeting .

Written contributions from KFA Greece and Marta Grelak of Poland were read out by Dr Dermot Hudson.

A message to respected Marshal KIM JONG UN was adopted.

The short documentary film “Victorious Fatherland Liberation Museum “ was streamed to the participants .

The event concluded at 1455 hours BST.
